Cross Tantei Monogatari (クロス 探偵 物語 Hepburn: kurosu tantei monogatari) is an adventure game developed and published by WorkJam for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. It was released only in Japan in 1998.[1] The Sega Saturn version was released in one bundle, while the PlayStation version was released in two different releases, Zenpen and Kouhen, the first and seconds parts of the game respectively.
Plot
[edit]Cross Tantei Monogatari is a visual novel, and is mostly played as a young 18-year-old detective named Koruso Ken. Aided by his partner Nishiyama Tomoko, they must solve 7 cases. Each case takes place in different parts of the city and involves different suspects.
In each case, background information is provided first, and then a crime happens. The player then examines the crime scene for clues to solve the case.[1]
PlayStation Release
[edit]WorkJam later launched the game on PlayStation in two separate releases: Kouhen and Zenpen. Each release is one half of the game. It was released on October 23, 1999.[1]
Reception
[edit]Since the game was only released in Japan, the game did not receive critical attention elsewhere.
However, Japanese reviews have been generally positive. segaretro.com aggregated known reviews, and it averaged at 83/100. In Japan, Famitsu gave the game a score of 30/40.[2]
