I saw categories for "song contest categories by year" were created. Shouldn't that be moved to "music competitions by year" instead? Right now the category is just for competitions between songs like the Eurovision Song Contest and its preselections in various countries. Probably not even singing competitions like Idols in various countries are "song contests", just "singing contests" since it's between singers. Or if there are also competitions for intrumental compositions (probably common within classical music). J 1982 (talk) 17:55, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@J 1982: Music competitions is a much broader scope, while this one is quite concise, but sure – I bet there are enough articles, or at least enough articles can be written to have a parent scheme Category:Music competitions by year. It's not true though that these ones here are only for the ESC and its preselections. Bundesvision, EuroVoice, Intervision, Türkvizyon, the ABU contests, MGP Nordic, and the Junior Eurovision are separate contests. Many more exist, but currently don't have separate articles by year, see the preexisting Category:Song contests. Idols and other Category:Singing talent shows are a related but distinct concept, though at least the junior contests (Junior Eurovision, Bala Türkvizyon, MGP Nordic) may be considered borderline cases. --PanchoS (talk) 22:40, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
