4 of these items do not fit the criteria.

The massacres in 4 of these events were indiscriminate of gender. The Manila Massacre was a massacre of men and women, the Nanjing massacre was a massacre of men and women, the Skourvoula executions were mass executions of men and women, Wounded knee was a massacre of men and women. None of those 4 involved killing anyone because of their gender thus should be removed.

Analysis: The mass murders in Nanjing and Manila were indiscriminate of gender, they were both committed against a city. It appears these 2 items are included in error most likely because these events also included a mass rape - which was predominantly but not exclusively of women. While tragic, mass rape is a separate category from massacre and this is a list about massacres. Skourvoula was the extermination of an entire town regardless of gender. It included 22 women and 14 men but this is not because of their gender rather because that's simply who was left in the town (e.g. the other men of the village had already been slaughtered on the battlefield). Wounded knee was a massacre of a native american tribe indiscriminate of their gender.
