Should we gradually start replacing the succession boxes that many managers' articles have with these templates? I personally think the templates look better and give more information. Having both the succession boxes and the templates in articles is essentially pointless. Sir-Nobby 20:13, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, and that's actually what I did when I started implementing these templates. It was reverted in many cases, though, maybe the number of templates needs to be more comprehensive in order to fully replace succession boxes. ArtVandelay13 22:27, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. Someone on another talk page also made the point that the articles of managers who have managed many clubs over the years (such as Ron Atkinson) might begin to look a bit cluttered once templates have been added for all the clubs they've been in charge of. So, I suggested each template could have a show/hide option, like on the Template:UKPrimeMinisters. Sir-Nobby 16:57, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Anyone got an opinion on having a show/hide option on the templates? Sir-Nobby 22:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'll give it a go when I get around to it; it's quite complicated but I've done it before. The main problem is that you can't adjust the colour - so the [hide] link will still appear blue on a blue background. But perhaps it's better than nothing. ArtVandelay13 22:19, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Why not, like we have with clubs templates, have them all standardised, and so the boxes would link together anyhow as opposed to having lots of separate ones, making them all have a bit less space. This would mean using the {{fb start}} and {{fb end}} template style. Although, the templates for things like players at a club and world cup squads aren't standardised in the same way, so maybe not. But it's an option?--Simmo676 15:47, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Another thing I was thinking about that might improve the templates is, when you are viewing one of the manager's articles, their name on the template is in bold, like on the squad templates. This would help the manager stand out more and should make it clearer as to who they succeeded and were succeeded by. Is there any way this can be done and if so, do you agree it would improve them? - They already do, providing the actual article is linked to, and not a redirect. ArtVandelay13 19:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Show/Hide option
[edit]OK, I've added the show/hide option on Newcastle United managers template, but does anyone know how to set it to hide on default? Sir-Nobby 17:47, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
