From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Family murders are:

  • Mass murders (defined by the United States Congress as the killing of three or more victims in a single location around the same time)[1] where the victims are predominantly members of the same family, of more than one generation, or;
  • Triple murders where the victims are parents and one of their children, and
  • The perpetrator(s) is/are either unknown or not (a) family member(s).

Killings which meet the first two criteria but were carried out at least in part by a member or members of the slain family go in Category:Familicides in the United States.
