Aamna Sharif (born 16 July 1982) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi films and television. Sharif is best known for her portrayal of Kashish Sinha Garewal in Kahiin to Hoga, Muskaan Duggal Mishra in Hongey Judaa Na Hum and Komolika Chaubey in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2.[3] For Kahiin To Hoga, she won the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role and Fresh New Face – Female.[4]
Early life and education
[edit]Aamna Sharif was born on 16 July 1982[5] in Mumbai, Maharashtra to an Indian father and a Persian-Bahraini mother.[6][7] She studied at St. Anne's High School, Bandra.[7]
Personal life
[edit]In 2012, Sharif revealed that she has acrophobia from her childhood.[8] After dating for almost a year, Sharif married her film distributor-turned-producer boyfriend Amit Kapoor, on 27 December 2013.[9][10] The couple had their first child, a boy named Arain, on 2 September 2015.[11][12][13]
Career
[edit]During her second year in college, Sharif started receiving offers for modeling of various brands. Sharif started her career by featuring in music videos. She then made her acting debut with the Tamil film Jjunction.[14]
Sharif career marked a turning point with her television debut, Kahiin to Hoga. She played Kashish Sinha Garewal opposite Rajeev Khandelwal.[15][16] The series won her the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.[17]
Post Kahiin to Hoga, Sharif made her Hindi film debut in 2009, opposite Aftab Shivdasani in Aloo Chaat. She later appeared in the films: Aao Wish Karein (2009) and Shakal Pe Mat Ja (2011).[18][19] After a five year hiatus, Sharif returned to television with Hongey Judaa Na Hum, where from 2012 to 2013, she played Muskaan Duggal Mishra opposite Raqesh Vashisth.[20]
In 2014, she appeared as a serial killer's wife in the film Ek Villain, opposite Riteish Deshmukh. The film was a commercial success.[21] Sharif returned to television after six years with Kasautii Zindagii Kay, playing Komolika Chaubey from 2019 to 2020.[22][23] Sharif appeared in two web series in 2022: Damaged and Aadha Ishq.[24]
