2024 University of Mississippi confrontation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On May 2, 2024, a confrontation between pro-Palestinian protesters and University of Mississippi students took place at the university's campus in Oxford, Mississippi.[1] Videos of the confrontation were captured by bystanders, including an incident of a student imitating a monkey in front of a black graduate student.[2]

Responses

[edit]

Representative Mike Collins applauded the video publicly.[2]

Phi Delta Theta announced that a member who had been filmed making monkey noises towards a black protester had been removed from the fraternity.[3]

A video played by the 2024 Republican National Convention praised the student making monkey noises, saying that it gave "some hope there that not all college students have gone woke."[4]
