2013 European Athletics Junior Championships – Men's 400 metres hurdles

The men's 400 metres hurdles at the 2013 European Athletics Junior Championships was held in Rieti from 19 to 21 July.

Russian athlete Timofey Chalyy won the gold medal in a championship record.[1] His performance was described as "remarkable".[2] His mark of 49.23 seconds was also the second fastest of any European U20 athlete ever, earning him the European Athletics Rising Star award.[3] It was also a national U20 record for Russia.[4]

Qualification: First 3 in each heat (Q) and 4 best performers (q) advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, first 3 in each heat (Q) and 2 best performers (q) advance to the final.[5]
