Hi, I am a college student writing a research paper on China's takeover of Tibet, so I came to Mao's page for some information but I don't see anything about Tibet on his page. Why do you think that no one has written or mentioned anything about Tibet? Would you consider adding something about Tibet on his page? I know that there are people who reject Tibet as its own country but don't you think there should be at least something about Tibet? Thank you for your time.--Madeintibet59 (talk) 04:11, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
Ngari/Shigatse Prefecture border
I made and uploaded a map of modern Tibetain administrative boundries in 2008. Recently I was told that the maps I made had an error relating to the Ngari/Shigatse Prefecture level borders. I fixed it on the maps that highlight the Prefectures in question, but have yet to do the fix on the maps highlighting other Prefectures (making the change much less noticeable, but still visible) Before I put the work into making the change on the other 6 maps, I would like to ask if there is any reason *not* to do it. It seems like I had drawn the map using out of date info, or that it has since become out of date. Please let me know if there are any issues with making the change to the other maps. Thanks! The maps in question:

- Well, I'm a bit disappointed not to get any feedback, but as best as I can tell the change is the right thing to do, so I've gone ahead and made the change to the files in question:

The article Buchasergyi Lakang Monastery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Alternate spelling of Buchu Monastery, unreferenced, contains no additional info
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Djembayz (talk) 23:00, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation page in need of attention from subject-matter expert
Lingpa is several different kinds of wrong: not part of this project; categorized as a "surname" though it's more like a title; missing many of the most important related articles. Unfortunately, what is needed to fix it goes beyond my level of expertise, and hopefully this is the right place to seek people more knowledgeable than myself who are also active editors. --KGF0 ( T | C ) 02:12, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Merger Proposal: Dorje Shugden controversy → Dorje Shugden
I've proposed that the article Dorje Shugden controversy be merged into the article Dorje Shugden. I am making this proposal as there is considerable overlap in the contents of these two articles and because the Dorje Shugden controversy cannot properly be explained or understood without context of the (various) explanations of the origin, history, and nature of this protector deity. The discussion for this merger proposal is at Talk:Dorje Shugden#Merger proposal. Chris Fynn (talk) 20:36, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Can anyone offer guidance to a new contributor who seems to be wanting to create articles about a Buddhist sect whose current head is based in Taiwan but is using Tibetan sources? WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Removal of alternate names from Battle of Chamdo
A user has removed two sourced, and extremely common, alternate names from the Battle of Chamdo article,[1] and has repeated the removal after my reversion. Tibet flag data
Hello all. If you are interested, there is a proposal at Template talk:Country data China to use the PRC flag for Tibet instead of the current Tibetan flag. Potential article?
I just declined a speedy deletion for the article Anti-Tibetan Sentiment, as it was tagged with no context. There's enough there to where I can tell what it's about, although it needs a lot of expansion. It seems like it could potentially merit an article with a little TLC, but this is out of my typical editing zone and would benefit from someone more familiar with the topic. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:53, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
I've created the page 70,000 Character Petition as a translation from the French article using the Translation tool. There's a lot of post-processing to fix up cruft left over from the tool, but wanted to let you know about the article.
As a side issue, there seems to be a vast number of Tibet related articles on French WP that do not exist here. We might want to enlist FR->EN translators to translate some of them. Alternatively, anyone could rummage around the French portal for ideas on article topics that could be added here. Mathglot (talk) 05:37, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Finished editing the translation and fixing the cruft. Now we need new eyeballs on this, so we can improve the somewhat poor article structure, and flesh out more detail. Mathglot (talk) 05:28, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
eat half, walk double, laugh triple
I'm looking for an attestation and commentary (or debunking) about this phrase which seems to be popping up all over the place on Facebook and other social media (e.g., here) and attributed as "a Tibetan proverb":
"The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure..." —Tibetan proverb
Is this really Tibetan in origin? Can someone supply 1) a source, 2) the original in Tibetan, and 3) an accurate translation?
A search on the internet for the phrase turns up many sites which quote it, many of them claiming Chinese origin. Plenty of such so-called "wise quotations" are just made up on the spot by Random Dood who wants to stake out his 15' of fame, and I suspect this is one of those, but I'm really not sure.
Is there a "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations" for Tibetan, and is this in it? Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 06:31, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- I found a list of Tibetan proverbs that does not claim to be exhaustive, but is very long. And it doesn't have that quote. --nhinchey (talk) 22:54, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
