WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:55, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced living people articles bot

Your project uses User:WolterBot, which occasionally gives your project maintenance-related listings.

User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project.

Here is an example of a project which uses User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects:

There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.

The unreferenced living people articles related to your project will be found here: /Unreferenced BLPs.

If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.

Thank you. Okip 08:13, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification. The specified list (Wikipedia:WikiProject Slovenia/Unreferenced BLPs) has been transcluded at Wikipedia:WikiProject Slovenia. --Eleassar my talk 09:28, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
I appreciate you taking the initiative on this, have a great weekend, and happy editing! Okip 04:41, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Slovenia/Archive 3/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 23:07, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Slovenian municipalities

Hi. I noticed that the majority of these are neglected and mostly unreferenced sub stubs. Given that they form the backbone to the country I see them as a project priority. I was wondering if anybody here would be interested here in collaborating with me or creating a "Municipality of the week" collaboration drive the help get these articles up to start class level and perhaps we could have a series of DYKs for them on the front page. It is quite disheartening to read a full articles even about someehre in say Croatia, clicking on a sister city in Slovenia and it being an unreferenced sub stub. I've begun expanding Žužemberk and Zreče. With some fluent Slovene speakers helping I think we could do a lot to quickly improve a lot of these articles and bring them up to an acceptable status. First of all, I think it would be useful to put info about settlements and municipalities in separate articles. But the sheer scale of the project is probably the reason why nobody starts doing it. — Yerpo Eh? 14:25, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Well if nobody gives a damn about either the town or municipality I'd hardly recommend creating seperate articles on them... If however there were people writing full articles about them it would be different... Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:40, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I suppose there's no harm in putting the data in a single article for the time being. It can always be split later. Only the question of interwikis remains. At :sl we have articles about both. What link do you think would be more appropriate? — Yerpo Eh? 09:01, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Actually you can add both links for town and municipality. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Demographic History

I recently made this, Demographic history of Slovenia, and I leave it to you guys to go forward with it. (LAz17 (talk) 16:10, 25 March 2010 (UTC)).

The newer census data are very useful. Are there sources to improve what is said about the 19th century? I would help present data, if I had some starting points. This was a time of great demographic change, as Slovenes began to emigrate to the US from the Austrian Empire. Has any source totalled up the number whose parish record was marked, gone to America, for example? Are there population totals for years in that century? If we had the data available to Jernej Zupančič, perhaps we could present the 19th century more clearly, separate from the Austrian Empire's efforts to make it appear that 'Germanization' was successful. I have read in other places that 1880 to 1920s was considered a mass emigration era, related to population growth, increased industrialization, and the speedier steam ships across the Atlantic. Emigration had started by the time of the uprisings in 1848. Such an outmigration would change the percentage of who remained, by language spoken. Plus, the cross reference to Styria of modern Austria does nothing to clarify geography, rather muddies the issue. Slovenia contains the old duchy of Carniola (upper, lower and inner), Carinthia, Gorizia and Prekmurje, not just a part of the old Styria. This is a topic of interest to me, but I do not have the aggregate numbers. Can anyone guide me to sources? Prairieplant (talk) 22:22, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Josip Broz Tito

Hi! Just a note. On Talk:Josip Broz Tito all WikiProjects rated Tito as High or Top importance, except WikiProject Slovenija, which rated Tito as Low importance. Is this an error or a correct rating? Kebeta (talk) 20:44, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

I've intentionally rated the article as Low importance. I don't think Tito is really important for Slovenia but is in the scope of the wikiproject. --Eleassar my talk 09:35, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons

The WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons (UBLPs) aims to reduce the number of unreferenced biographical articles to under 30,000 by June 1, primarily by enabling WikiProjects to easily identify UBLP articles in their project's scope. There were over 52,000 unreferenced BLPs in January 2010 and this has been reduced to 32,665 as of May 16. A bot is now running daily to compile a list of all articles that are in both Category:All unreferenced BLPs and have been tagged by a WikiProject. Note that the bot does NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others previously - it just compiles a list.

Your Project's list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Slovenia/Unreferenced BLPs. As of May 17 you have approximately 49 articles to be referenced, a 9.3% reduction from last week. The list of all other WikiProject UBLPs can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects.

Your assistance in reviewing and referencing these articles is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please don't hestitate to ask either at WT:URBLP or at my talk page. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 17:24, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
