Who does this?

[edit]

Who does this, and how do I help?Eagle (talk) (desk) 22:02, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

currently me - very early days yet, just get stuck for the moment and make small additions, changes as you see fit. We can talk as we are about the appropriateness if we disagree at all. It just needs more people to make use of it as a general project work list. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 10:11, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Content overlap

[edit]

I'd say that, if the content here is partly the same as in WikiProject Books/Worklist - it really doesn't interfere with the compilation of the WP:Version 1.0. The list of books here will be bigger than in the WikiProject Books/Worklist list anyway. feydey 19:53, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested novels

[edit]

A couple of novels that seem to be missing from the list in my opinion would be Frankenstein and Dracula. Grey Shadow 13:21, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spot on - bit an oversight those. Added - if you spot such obvious novels that are needed - just add them. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 14:37, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The table is a bit beyond me at present. Another novel would be Dune (novel). Grey Shadow 23:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, understand. All i do is copy and past the line change which is the "|-" characters and the folloing line of title data, total 2 lines. Then paste it in the new location and then ammend the title, importance rating, article grade, and then added any comments thought useful. I'll do Dune though, good call! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:37, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been working, almost single-handedly, on this guy's novels for some time:

  • The Borribles (1976); reissued in the USA in 2005, ISBN 076535005X
  • The Borribles Go for Broke (1981); reissued in the USA in 2005, ISBN 0765350068
  • The Borribles: Across the Dark Metropolis (1986); reissued in the USA in 2005, ISBN 0765350076
  • Reissued in the UK in one volume as The Borrible Trilogy (2002) ISBN 0330490850
I have made a few refinements myself - you might like to add these "Borribles" to the "New article" list in the appropriate "start" month and also add the three basic article to the "Worklist" in the mose appropriate genre. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:36, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers Kevin, I've added all the Larrabeiti works that have been categorized to the appropriate lists. If I wanted to add further novels, should I just go ahead and do it? I realise I should just Be Bold but I wasn't sure if there was a different protocol that applied to WikiProjects. -Jim 08:43, 11 July 2006 (UTC) (crossposted to User_talk:Kevinalewis).[reply]

Other works

[edit]

I think that Foxes' Oven and Rose Beyond The Thames have got the WikiProject Novels template on their talk pages, but I'm not sure if that means anything in terms of whether they are being worked on as part of the project or not.

How do I go about getting other people to help out on these novels? I have added cover pictures for most and am able to add pictures for the rest, but do not have the time to write full pages for each novel - plus, it's a bit disheartening working on wiki pages on your own!

FYI, The Borribles books are probably the most important books to get up to scratch, as they are the most well known (quite a cult classic here in the UK) and there is a movie in the pipeline. Foxes' Oven was on the longlist for the Booker Prize. Also, I think that Journal of a Sad Hermaphrodite' is probably de Larrabeiti's best work; it is up there as a bit of a masterpiece in my opinion.--Jim 10:07, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Worklist priority?

[edit]

As I just joined the project, I put up the announcements on my user page. Now, under "Improve" it lists a bunch of books I've never heard of. Shouldn't priority for Improve articles follow the importance rating? For example, shouldn't it be of more urgency to improve Bleak House (which doesn't even have an infobox!!) than to work on the article for the obscure novel Ice?--Ibis3 23:18, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anywhere where we can ask for help on stubs?

[edit]

I know that most people wouldn't find this page successfully - I only found this after three days of endless surfing! (or is it just me)?

So is there a place where we can openly ask for help on these book stubs that I know -

So far...I'm still surfing the wide range of fantasy book stubs...cheerio!

Any suggestions on how to improve the navigation would be helpful, with a large project like this there is a lot to find! and a lot needed to keep things together.
on the specific question, on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Worklist in the relevant section. A note on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/GeneralForum and you might like to suggest them as Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration candidate. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:57, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bias

[edit]

You should coordinate with the systemic bias project, there are many important novels (of top) that are not here —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.175.97.113 (talkcontribs)

Carl Sagan FAR

[edit]

Carl Sagan has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Middle Age : A Romance by Joyce Carol Oates

[edit]

I'd like to add Middle Age : A Romance by Joyce Carol Oates [1] to this page (in the romance subsection), but I am a bit unsure as to how to do it exactly...Hopefully the page can be expanded!Zigzig20s 08:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added - bit slow but I missed this when it first arrived. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:43, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newbie help?

[edit]

Hi, can somebody explain to me how I can get a novel rated or re-assessed? Cheers 80.5.157.81 (talk) 13:08, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add an entry on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Assessment page in at the end of the request section. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:21, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Subcategory on Caribbean Literature

[edit]

I note a lack of adequate articles covering Caribbean Literature. The Caribbean has seen a rich and varied array of novels, short stories, poetry over the years but these authors and their work have gotten very little recognition. I'm looking for person willing to help me building a database of articles focusing specifically on Caribbean Literature. I already have a list of authors and work that I'm willing to share.Legally Sher (talk) 23:08, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
