Happy April Fools Day to the RedWan team!

I cannot believe I got rickrolled by the people who are supposed to be protecting us from deception. I guess we all need to prank people from time to time. Thank you all for creating the best anti-vandalism tool on Wikipedia, and happy April Fools Day! Scorpions13256 (talk) 22:29, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Same! I was about to post on here that I got rickrolled when I saw this... I guess I was Wikirolled. Noah 💬 23:11, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Ed6767 Hi, by the way (this is serious and I am not joking here) Can you please remove the RedWarn Premium April fools joke from the recent changes page as it is affecting my use of Recent Changes special page and if not I may have to use something like huggle or SWViewer as the announcement has already been implemented. Thank you. User3749 (talk) 03:43, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
@User3749: We can't help if you're not descriptive of how exactly RedWarn broke your Recent Changes page. That being said, it is highly unlikely that the RedWarn Patrol logo did any real damage unless your screen size is extremely tiny. More information would be very much appreciated. クロッド (RW • say hi!) 04:24, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
Chlod, So being more descriptive the "RedWarn premium" April Fools joke on the RedWarn patrol is quite annoying and that is why it is affecting my use of the Recent changes. User3749 (talk) 04:29, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
To add on, it isn't causing real damage but just a bit annoying and affecting my use, so I recommend removing it as others are already aware. Thank you. User3749 (talk) 04:30, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
@User3749, the April Fools version is no longer present as of now as it is nearing April 2nd in my timezone. ✨ Ed talk!22:50, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

Feature request: tagging pages with protection template

This feature is present in TW, so can you please add it to RedWarn (together with some links that links to the protection policy, and different protection templates (as this is in Twinkle but not in RedWarn, it would be very helpful if those were in RedWarn)? Thanks. User3749 (talk) 12:32, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

(add on) It also says "extended protection" in the protection menu, please also change it to extended confirmed protection. User3749 (talk) 12:33, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@User3749: I believe the feature is currently being work on or already planned as on Wikipedia:RedWarn/changelog#Unreleased Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:35, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Paper9oll Thank you, once it is implemented it can be very helpful. User3749 (talk) 12:48, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@User3749: No problem, I'm not the developer btw. Also waiting for the feature to arrived. Currently, it's best to use RedWarn together with Twinkle. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:50, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Paper9oll, Agree. I have both redwarn and twinkle installed and I also use huggle, but I think that "extended protection" should be fixed very quick. User3749 (talk) 06:40, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

automatic spacing at UAA/elsewhere

Hello all. It looks to me like RedWarn automatically adds a blank line at the top when adding new reports at WP:UAA? I certainly appreciate the sentiment, that page and others like it can be very confusing to edit when all the reports flow together with no spacing. However (and our bad for not reaching out at the time) when we asked for something like this from Twinkle, the objection was that an entirely blank line can cause problems for people with vision issues who use screen readers, per WP:LISTGAP. So, the solution that was developed was a line with nothing but an asterisk below the report, automatically spacing out the next one and apparently making screen readers read it properly. If that same functionality could be added to RedWarn that would be awesome. Thanks in advance! Beeblebrox (talk) 21:11, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Beeblebrox, thank you for informing us and I would like to send my apologies for the delay in responding to this accessibility issue. This should be now fixed in the latest release. ✨ Ed talk!21:20, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! Beeblebrox (talk) 21:54, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Error message on Special pages

Hi Devs, I'm not sure if this is intention or bug. When using the In the "more" dropdown menu (like Twinkle, plain links) for the Locations of RedWarn controls, however when I go to any Special pages, I will get this error message (RedWarn isn't compatible with this theme, or another error occured when loading control buttons.) on top-right corner. The error message doesn't appear if other options are selected and only when "More" dropdown menu option is selected. This is the error in console log:

TypeError: rw.topIcons.generateHTML(...).forEach is not a function
    pageIcons http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=User:RedWarn/.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript:455
    initRW http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=User:RedWarn/.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript:718
    getConfig http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=User:RedWarn/.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript:1736

Adding on – This is not an issue with browser, I tested it on both latest version of Chrome, Edge and Firefox. The theme i'm using is Vector skin, basically the default skin.

Paper9oll (🔔📝) 01:46, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Paper9oll: Hello, this is probably due to the fact that MediaWiki does not allow userscripts to interact with special pages. As you may have noticed, Twinkle deactivates on such special pages too. ―sportzpikachu my talkcontribs 03:51, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
@Sportzpikachu: Hi, yea I noticed Twinkle is not working on special pages. Erm, is it possible to make it the same for RedWarn as well even though it doesn't causes any functionality issues, it is quite annoying to see the message as I often navigate through special pages. Question

What is RedWarn Patrol and what advantages does it have over Special:RecentChanges? Lomrjyo (talk) 03:10, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

"Introducing deliberate factual errors"

I think I have asked this before, and I apologise for not remembering the answer. I think it may have been "we are working on adding more flexibility, and it may be possible to change things later". Anyway, just in case things have changed, I hope you don't mind me coming back to an issue that I still find worrying.

When rolling back an edit with Quick rollback factual errors the tool provides the sensible edit summary "likely factual errors (RW 16.1)", BUT when sending a message to the offending editor it uses "Note: Introducing deliberate factual errors (RW 16.1)". The word "deliberate" is almost always inappropriate. It's really aggressive and suitable for obvious vandals only. Much more usual, as here, is where a user gets something wrong, but there is no evidence that it's deliberate. Can the word "deliberate' be removed, or is there now any way I can remove it in my own Redwarn configuration? MichaelMaggs (talk) 17:37, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

@MichaelMaggs: I've changed the text on the edit summary. To see the changes, please go into your RedWarn settings, open the "Warnings" tab, and select "Clear Changes and Sync with Public Database". Chlod (RW • say hi!) 17:42, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Chlod, that was very quick, thank you! MichaelMaggs (talk) 20:39, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

How to uninstall?

While I appreciate the great effort behind RW, I don't get to use it often as a Mac user. Therefore, I would like to uninstall it. How? NotReallySoroka (talk) (formerly DePlume) 03:20, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

@NotReallySoroka: You can do so by removing this line mw.loader.load('/w/index.php?title=User:RedWarn/.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); from common.js. To install it again, simply go to Wikipedia:RedWarn/Install. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 04:46, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
You can also comment it out by prepending // before the import code itself. That way, you can easily re-enable it again if you need to. pandakekok9 (talk) 05:15, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Remove colon before {{Shared IP advice}}

A minor cosmetic note: {{Shared IP advice}} includes its own indentation, but RedWarn adds a colon before it. Wasn't as much of a problem before this change but now the indentation of messages from RedWarn is relatively enormous [1]Thjarkur (talk) 17:13, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, Þjarkur. I've replied on the original thread on the template talk page. Chlod (RW • say hi!) 17:15, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

AIV report with multiple selections

Hello, and thank you for this tool! It feels like Twinkle, but faster! It would be helpful if the AIV report feature let you select multiple options, such as with checkboxes, instead of there being a single dropdown. (For example, I could report an account which is vandalism-only and has vandalised past 4th warning.) Twinkle already does this in its ARV/AIV module. Thank you!
