When you schedule mottos, please add the links that were in the nominations. Some mottos make little sense without the links! --Gray PorpoisePhocoenidae, not Delphinidae 02:55, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November schedule

[edit]

All of the links for November, 2006 pointed to Novemer whatever instead of November whatever. I created Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Novemer 7, 2006 so the MOTD template would pick it up. I also changed all of the TBD links from 8 November forward to point to November whatever, not Novemer whatever, so the template will display the motto for whichever day it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WODUP (talkcontribs)

Will edit for food?

[edit]

This is not particularly enlightening and has no wikilinks. What's up? Benjiboi 13:52, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not all mottoes need Wikilinks. They just speak for themselves. --Tewy 16:44, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And for our global audience what are we being enlightened with on "Will edit for food?" Seems dubious at best, confusing or some weird cultural dig at worst. Benjiboi 18:11, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Messy, messy, messy

[edit]

This looks like a project in need of a major overhaul. Especially the Nomination and Scheduling process, but other things could stand to be rewritten, or the styling to be redone. Since I haven't done much with MOTD on this account, and quite a bit on an old account (where many, many, many new mottoes were posted daily), I do need to get back in touch with the processes that drive this project.

But here are a few questions:

  • Who is still here, actively contributing with new mottoes, closing old ones and approving/denying/reopening as per consensus, scheduling, etc?
  • About how many new mottoes are submitted daily?
  • Who is for reworking the nomination process?
  • Who is for restarting the whole project?
  • What "needs" to be kept? Can old archives be deleted if this is restarted?

Please get back to me. Do not reply below this post, it is in many locations. Please leave all concerns here. Thank you QAE 01:43, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nominating dates

[edit]

Is there a way to create many new dates on this page at once? Say, a whole month's worth? --Smaug123 (talk) 20:10, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I could help if that's what you're asking for

[edit]

To editor Pjoef: So is the break in coverage deliberate or are you that short-handed? There are nominations that could be used, not to mention recycling previously used mottoes. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:29, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Chris troutman: it is much appreciated, and very kind of you! Thank you, Chris!
The 12 to 17 June 2014 scheduled motto, "This motto is under construction and you can help!", is producing some results, but we still need more active contributors involved into this project, especially regarding the nominations procedureany help much appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:17, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

¡¡¡¡¡Proposed Merging!!!!!

[edit]

This project has gone very far south and is pretty much inactive. I am noticing the Tip of the Day is also starting to go down this path. I believe that this project and the tip of the day can both be saved if we merge the two and basically put a quote at the bottom of the tip of the day and mark this project as defunct. Then, I would redesign the tip of the day page to be more user friendly and work for quotes as well. I believe that with one project covering both these topics, we can combine the little interest left and bring these projects back. With no opposition, I will probably go a head with this in a week as long as the reamaining tip of the day people are cool with it. If you leave a message here, please ping me as I will not be monitoring the page. To ping me just copy and paste this somewhere in your comment: {{ping|User:Tortle}} Thanks Tortle (talk) 02:13, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
