Nonsensical question

[edit]

@Jéské Couriano, A Muslim who believes that there's currently no established Caliphate like the Rashidun, would not honestly search such a string on Google. It is similar to searching who is the current prophet of Muslims but believing that Muhammad was the last. As such even first: searching the question on google and then giving feedback is utter nonsense. Why should we suggest others what they should do if their nonsensical question gets a wrong algorithm based answer on Google. Avoid searching these strings? ─ The Aafī (talk) 05:49, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's (i.e. not searching that string) basically what I've been suggesting as of late whenever it's popped up on IRC. I'm half-convinced there is some sort of video or some social media post out there inviting others to search the string in order to gin up outrage, since this seems to me to be a string nobody who wasn't already somewhat aware of the issue would search. —Jéské Couriano (No further replies will be forthcoming.) 16:58, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed I've seen several websites and videos which say, "hey look how offended you'll be if you search this string". The problem isn't really the search engine, or the question, the problem is thinking that a search engine answers questions. We should be encouraging people to be a bit more critical about what information represents. There is a secondary issue, which is that any results suggesting that Ahmadis are Muslims is going to offend some, particularly in countries where it's basically against the law. But then many people with a religion are going to offended by something or other. -- zzuuzz (talk) 08:52, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop searching the string and actually read the page. We aren't the ones making that claim; Google is. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Source assessment notes 15:51, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
