This course will explore the online media environment that is often the unexamined background of so much of our social and intellectual activity and consider how to be wise consumers and creators of digital content in a world of information overload and filter bubbles. By getting "under the hood" of Wikipedia and making improvements to articles, students will gain understanding of how Wikipedia works and what kind of content is appropriate for this medium, as well as practice finding and evaluating appropriate sources and writing for a particular audience.
