Each month an Arena Football League collaboration of the month topic will be picked using this page. This is a specific arena football-related topic which initially either has no article, has only a basic stub-like page, is in need of more information, or needs to be thoroughly sourced and copy-edited to make it a good article candidate. The aim of this project is to improve the quality of Wikipedia's professional wrestling-related articles through widespread cooperative editing. It is our hope that some of these will go on to become featured articles. The Sunday of the final week of each month, the votes are tallied, and the candidate with the most votes will be promoted for one month to potential contributors.

For general discussion of the tasks of WikiProject Arena Football League, please see the project's talk page.

The monthly featured article collaboration

[edit]

For the weeks which the 28th day of the month falls on, one of the two COTM articles will be chosen from good article candidates instead of articles rated a lower class. This is done in hopes of making the article reach featured article status. This collaboration will be different from all of the others, as rather than simply focusing on expansion and copy-editing, this will show much more attention to detail, as the goal is to make sure the article passes all of the featured article criteria. The reason for this monthly drive is to make sure this project produces featured articles at a relatively constant rate.

Selecting the next Arena Football League COTM

[edit]

How to nominate

[edit]
Guidelines
  • A previous COTM article can only be renominated after two months, and only if it was rated below good article class when promoted.
  • A pruned article can only be renominated after two months.
  • You must be a registered user to nominate an article.
  • If you have already nominated an article, all your existing nominations require at least two votes each for you to nominate a new article.
  • An article cannot be nominated if it is a current good article nominee or featured article candidate.
Considerations for nominations
  • Giving reasons why an article should become the Arena Football LeagueCOTM may convince others to support your nomination.
  • Can the wider arena football/American football community easily contribute to the article? Or is it something only a small number of people will know about?
  • Is the article a stub or very short?
  • A good place to look for articles that might be worthy of a nomination are the Arena Football League stubs and bio stubs.
  • If you are looking to nominate an article for the FACOTM, consider the Arena Football League GA-Class and A-Class articles.
  • Consider renominating a past candidate for COTM which had strong support but didn't quite make the cut.

Voting

[edit]

A vote or a show of support for an article shows your commitment to support and aid in collaborating on that specific article if it is chosen. Although you are not required to fulfill that commitment, we ask that you only support articles that you are able to contribute to so that this collaboration's goals of expanding and improving articles can adequately be achieved. Feel free to vote for as many candidates as you like.

Any registered user is encouraged to vote so long as you abide by the policies of Wikipedia, specifically Wikipedia:Sock puppetry.

Please add only support votes. Opposing votes will not affect the result, as the winner is simply the one with the most support votes (see Approval voting).

To vote for a nomination, edit the nomination and add the following to the bottom of the Support section:

# ~~~~

This adds your username and a time stamp to the numbered list item. The vote will look like this:

  1. Username 08:59, 1 July 2005 (UTC)

If you wish to withdraw your vote, do not remove your vote; instead, add an asterisk and strike-through tags to your vote as shown:

#* <s>[[User:Username|Username]] 08:59, 1 July 2005 (UTC)</s>

This allows Wikipedia to correctly calculate the remaining votes and will appear like this:

  1. Username2 08:39, 1 July 2005 (UTC)
  2. Username3 08:39, 2 July 2005 (UTC)

Note: We do not choose the article through consensus; we choose it through a majority voting system.

Ties

[edit]

In the case of a tie, voting will be extended for 24 hours. If there is still a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. During the extended voting period the old collaboration will remain active. In the case of extended voting, the collaboration period will be reduced to six days.

Pruning

[edit]

Nominations will be removed if they do not receive three votes for every seven days. ie. Three votes after seven days on the list, six votes after 14 days, nine votes after 21 days, and so on. A pruned article cannot be renominated for at least two months after the fact. Good article candidates are not subject to pruning.

Candidates for next month

[edit]

Next month's "collaboration of the month" will be decided on last week of the month. A maximum of ten nominations are allowed.
