International Women's Day, India

8th March is International Women's Day and to celebrate, women in India are organizing edit-a-thons and meetups to create and expand articles of importance to women in Wikipedia in English and various Indian languages. The goal of the month-long event is to encourage more women to contribute to Wikipedia and increase representation of articles related to women in Wikipedia. The event aims at creating new articles, expanding the existing stubs and translating English articles to various Indic languages.

Women Parliamentarians Edit-a-thon

This event is aimed at increasing the number and quality of articles related to women members of legislative bodies in India. Everyone is welcome to come edit Wikipedia with us at this event. Women, transwomen, Indians and those who are interested in articles related to Indian women are particularly encouraged to attend. Feel free to edit articles in the language of your choice. If you have any questions, contact User:ParulThakur who is leading this event.

  • Dates: 8 and 9 March 2014
  • Time: throughout the day (Can't be there on all two days? No problem, join us as long or as little as you can)
  • Location: At your homes, over a cup of tea or coffee!
