"It may be used freely without permission, but may not be altered without permission" - I think that last clause means it's not freely enough licensed to meet our standards. It might qualify under fair use, but not anything else. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:59, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Accidental deletion (as a redirect to a non-existent article - the target was temporarily removed by {{db-move}}) that nuked pre-merge edit history of material that is still in the encyclopedia. This page is not in the interest of Tamil Nadu in this dispute and has therefore been deleted. old fisherman's blues

the page was ok -77.46.166.30 (talk) 08:13, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning music. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning musicians or music groups will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. It's sometimes okay to restore pages that don't appear to meet these inclusion guidelines, but you need to show how restoring this page would be useful for the encyclopedia; unless you're willing to improve it yourself, there's essentially no chance of this page being restored. Done This should not have been deleted in the first place, since you never claimed permission to use it based solely on a noncommercial license; if this image had qualified for deletion on those grounds, every other non-free image on Wikipedia would be equally deleteable. I've restored the image to allow you to improve the rationale. If you have a noncommercial permission, please mention it on the page with {{Non-free with NC}}. Since we need to demonstrate that we won't hurt the owner's commercial opportunities by claiming an image under fair use, this template helps: it demonstrates that the owner has already allowed people to use it like we're doing and doesn't expect to benefit financially from it. I am editing information about myself.

Hi. I created this image from publicly available information that was free of copyright (the image was created by the government of the state of Missouri). I overlayed the image with hand-drawn boundary lines to create a derivative work. If I recall correctly, I placed the derived image in the public domain after I created it (although I can't seem to view that meta-data since the image was deleted). If it's necessary, I also hereby license the image under the Creative Commons license. -Diabolical_Mdog (talk) 02:51, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Not done and will not be done Works by US state governments (except for Minnesota and Florida) are copyrighted and not released freely, so derivative works cannot be freely licensed. Of course, a unique image owned by a US state can fall under fair use claims, but a simple state map is definitely replaceable. Please go to http://www2.census.gov/geo/maps/general_ref/cousub_outline/cen2k_pgsz/mo_cosub.pdf and take a screenshot of the county-level map on the first page: this is a public domain work of the US Government and should serve your purposes just as well as the nonfree state-owned map. Since it's not burdened with a sharealike clause, you may release your derivative work into the public domain, or you may use any of the Attribution or Attribution-Sharealike Creative Commons licenses. Ben inspired thousands if not millions and has become a household name known in the public as well as by A-list celebrities. Ben deserves to have his legacy shown and preserved on wikipedia so he can continue to touch people's lives. -192.54.242.165 (talk) 20:17, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Scroogle

After two years, I feel that Scroogle users and contributors have markedly increased (350.000 searches everyday), and I personally know many people from different surroundings who use it daily. I'm concerned that that page was deleted, first because was useful, second because it has an Alexa rank higher than MediaWiki. I believe we have to give it another chance. --Ogoorcs (talk) 12:08, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

  •  Not done The article was deleted in 2010 after an WP:AFD discussion. As such, the article cannot be undeleted in this forum - however, WP:DRV could be a better place. That said, due to the age of the deletion, info in it would be horrifically out of date - your better choice would be to create a WP:USERSPACEDRAFT. 350,000 search is peanuts - clearly does not meet notability there, and comparing Alexa rank to MediaWiki? Seriously? There would of course be some concerns that your username is pretty much Scroogle backwards ... (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Långaryd family

It is NOT hoax. The family's is in Guinness Book of World Records in two places so it is wrong to say that the family is just a invention. One can argue whether it is correct to call it a family by definition, but the concept is a reality. There are many proud members of the family around the world. Please undelete it so that I can improve. See http://langarydsslakten.se/english.htm -Magol (talk) 08:28, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Hermann Leopoldi

I was just about to start an article on this celebrated composer (celebrated in Germany/Austria but also USA in past years) when I found this:-

   05:23, 5 June 2007 Kusma (talk | contribs) deleted "Hermann Leopoldi" ‎ (g5)

I am not Wikiskilled enough to find the "deleting administrator" as requested by the template - but have reached this page, hence my request. It may be that the original article was awful (I have no access to it) but the subject is certainly notable and deserves inclusion (cf eg His entry on German Wikipedia and An online biographical summary drawn from respectable sources in both English and German) Testbed (talk) 08:35, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

This article was deleted back in 2007 by Kusma (talk · contribs), an admin who's now only editing sporadically. However, the article was deleted in accordance with speedy deletion criterion G5, i.e. by a blocked or banned user while evading his block or ban; furthermore, the article is very short... You can create a new article about Leopoldi, if you wish! You can use the Article wizard. Salvio Let's talk about it! 13:01, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Good news - I'll start now. Many thanks. Testbed (talk) 14:46, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

reasoning -74.14.48.229 (talk) 09:07, 4 January 2012 (UTC) Two sections on the Hornblower (TV series) page concerning the future productions went missing on January 3rd-or-4th. Have they been deleted or moved to another location? Can they be restored?

I believe you may be referring to these sections, which were removed by another user. Please note that this noticeboards only deals with articles which were deleted and not with content disputes, such as the one here. If you wish, you can raise the matter on the article's talk page, but please first familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's rules regarding original research and verifiability. El Pomar Foundation

a)- I did not know there was a prod so unable to contest. b)- Reasons for deletion were "Expired PROD, concern was: small local charity, does not appear to fulfil WP:ORG". c)- Reasons to keep: The article concerns an area of significant interest to the entire state of Colorado both current and historically. The foundation was formed in 1937 and has supported many cultural and civic institutions throughout Colorado. With close to 500 million dollars ($471,530,109.00; 2010 Form 990-PF) in assets and annual grant disbursements close to 20 million dollars ($18,778,434; 2010 Form 990-PF) the "charity" is not exactly small or local.

The El Pomar foundation administers the "El Pomar Carriage Museum", the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, and the "Penrose House" which is used by local, state, national, and international organizations.

The foundation also administers:

  • Anna Keesling Ackerman Fund; providing local grants to nonprofit organizations.
  • The Hambrick Fund; provides grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado for the "prevention of cruelty to animals, educational programs for the proper care of and attention to animals, and research grants and assistance in these regards".
  • Karl E. Eitel Fund; funds various Colorado state "youth at risk" programs.
I believe the deleted article may be able to be enhanced (or the alternative rewritten) to provide encyclopedic content with current and historical significance. In the future I plan to create an article on co-founder "Julie Penrose" and it will include a section on the foundation.
  • Supports
    Central City Opera
    Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.
Regional Partnership Program: 9 regional councils that give advice to the trustees. The program provided 1.6 million in grants in 2011.
Wildland Fire Fund; has provided over 2.7 million in statewide grants to 170 volunteer fire departments.
Colorado state Boys and Girls clubs.
  • Coverage satisfies WP:ORG: There is extensive coverage including: News articles; www.gazette.com- many multiple times, www.chieftain.com, www.bcdemocratonline.com, www.alamosanews.com, www.vaildaily.com, www.canoncitydailyrecord.com, www.lajuntatribunedemocrat.com ). Other organizations; www.foundationcenter.org (Philanthropy news Digest), www.aims.edu (Aims Community College), www.bizjournals.com (Denver Business Journal), www.spacefoundation.org.
