GAR closing

Many thanks for helping with the closing of a couple of GAR discussions recently. The project really benefits from having many closers, and I know only too well that it can be a bit tedious to update the GA page, count, article talk etc. Anyway, I just wanted to remind you to add the discussions you close to the bottom of the current archive. This means you can link them from the talk page rather than using a diff, which is more convenient for users. In contested discussions, you can also add some justification for the closure. Sir, A banned user:PONDHEEPANKAR has been targetting a featured article and leaving abusive messages on its/my talk page also. Please softlock these articles. He was banned from wiki for abusive language and sock puppetry. Hi. Congratualtions on your featured and GA work by the way but we seem to be having some difficulty over the Times of India as a source for the Indian film related articles. Its just finding completely reliable sources for Bollywood pages is incredibly difficult and whereas most people would consider Times of India as a reliable source , is it because you work for that paper that you don't consider it reliable? Most people would but is there some inside info about the paper that deems it unreliable? You are the one who gives away hand to POV - "even though she only does all these "pretty stupid girl" roles." Nobody says that she is the best. It only says that she is prominent. That's all. Nobody glorifies her. And your opinion is mainly based on your personal opinion of the actress (you criticize her. Meaning, you don't like her) If you see Jolie, you will see how many quotes are there. But because Zinta being Indian whom many don't like - so everything is permitted. BTW, neither you nor other editors on Wikipedia have authority to invalidate "The Times of India", even if you really want to do that. Well I looked at her awards list and compared it to the tone of the article, and there seems to be a discrepancy. Also, there is one part where a columnists said she was brave and your sentence said she was acclaimed by Indians [in a general sense] as being brave. I checked them and it looks as though you have copied things mostly verbatim from teh US government. Although that is allowed for copyright purposes, I do believe that the DYK rules don't allow for articles that have been pillaged from PD without being reworked to be displayed.

Ranks and graphs...

Hi Blnguyen -- always appreciate your work and your interesting user page! I'm a little confused by the graphs on the front page -- have you explained how to read them anywhere? What's the Rank of the articles mean, how is it generated, and do the dots on the lines have any particular significance? Hehe, I'm just disturbed by any data I can't understand! Oh I just ranked them in terms of the article size. So the largest article was 88kb, the second was 81kb, the third was 62kb etc.... the green dots are GAs and the orange ones are FA or FLs. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:39, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been doing some AFD stuff. I got involved in the schools debate but they are bailing the titanic. ie They spend 40 minutes debating an article that took 30 mins to create, meanwhile another 10 similar articles have been created. Although I don't think wikipedia is the Titanic ... it won't sink.

Thanks for your comments here, I will take them on board. There is one, however, which is not clear: "It is crossed by" -> "it is intersected by". Intersection implies that they actually meet at this point, whereas the river is taken physically over the canal by an aqueduct, so the only place at which they meet is their confluence. I'd also argue against merging because it's difficult know where to merge. There is a Category:Rivers of Wiltshire into which it fits, and if you think the article is short, see River Ebble! What is the reasoning for continually deleting references citing Ben Cousins in popular culture by Australian sporting commentators?
