[edit]

reverting an edit

[edit]

hi! actually reverting an edit is very easy, but first you should read WP:3RR. Okay, as for reverting, in every article, there's a history right on top of the page, just beside the "edit this page" tab and "move tab. Click the history, then compare the edit changes from your edit to the latest version. After comparing, choose the revision you want and click "edit" of that revision. Then thats it! Hope it helps =] †Bloodpack† 14:14, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey!

[edit]

I'm happy to help with any questions, and am equally happy to adopt you, show you the roped and pass on a slice of my (very limited) wisdom!

As for reverting edits, you may like to consider using a script like Twinkle or Popups. Twinkle, the script I personally use, allows you to easily roll-back vandalism to the last good edit, and even opens up the talk page of the user who committed the vandalism, ready for you to place appropriate warnings.

It's always nice to see another wikipedian dedicating to making Wikipedia a better place!

Whoops!

[edit]

I've just realised that I cant officially adopt, as I have not edited enough. Still, I'm happy to show you the ropes on a less formal basis! :)

Is there anything you'd particularly like help on to start with? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aiyda (talkcontribs) 15:48, 26 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Reverting

[edit]

Hey - good work on the recent changes and warning vandals! I just noticed that you wanted more information about reverting and I thought I'd point you in the direction of a few things you might be interested in (if you didn't know about them yet). Firstly, there's Twinkle which gives you a button to rollback edits by a particular user, as well as giving buttons to make warning users quicker and lots of other handy things. Also, if you're interested, I personally use VandalFighter which is a program that automatically gives a list of the recent changes. Hope that's helpful. Cya. Adoption

[edit]

Hello! If you have chosen an adopter or no longer wish to be adopted please remove the adoptee's userbox from your userpage. If you still need to be adopted, please contact me on my talk page! Hope to hear from you soon, Matthew Yeager 03:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption Program

[edit]

Hello again and welcome to the adoption program!

Please take some time to think about what you would like out of this program and what you can devote to it. After you have thought about this please message me on my talk page about which areas you would like to focus on. As well, if you are completely new or you are not sure, you can let me know that and I can give you a general overview. You will get as much as you put in with this program. If you would like me to be someone that you can ask questions to every once and a while, then thats who i'll be. Yet, if you wish to be in constant contact with me and have me go over your work with you each day or so, then thats who i will be. This is your choice, just please let me know :P

Also if you could please remove the adoptee userbox from your userpage so that others know you have been adopted. If you like you can replace it with this user box:

Thank you for your time, Matthew Yeager 16:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just wanted to let you know a brought in an awesome adopter to help you out as well!!! this way you have twice as many people to always help you out. To make it easy for you, only post questions on his talk page and i'll check that. the other adopter is Karrmann. He will be able to answer most any question, and i'll be here to help look over your edits and review any work you would like us to look at. i figure the more people you have checking your work out the faster you can learn and grow! if you have any questions just let Evilclown93 know and he'll be more then happy to get back to you. Hello

[edit]

Hello, I am your new adopter Matthew Yeager has told you about. I am Karrmann, and I have been editing about two years with about 5,000 edits. But numbers dob't really matter. I am here to help you for whatever you need. If you have any question about editing or the mechanics of WIkipedia, please feel free to ask, No question is a stupid question unless you intend it to be that way. Remember, I am here to help! :) Karrmann 23:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are very welcome. I am happy to help you get acquainted here. As for your userpage, I helped you out a bit, and got your userboxes nice and neat. When adding new ones, just add them above the {{Boxboxbottom}} tag and they will stay neat. Karrmann 20:21, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting vandals to WP:AIV

[edit]

Hi Witchzilla, thanks for your report! In future, please format reports like this: * {{IPvandal|IP Address}} below the User reported section. If you format it otherwise, the bot which removes blocked users from the list gets confused. Don't add new sections - it's all done for you already :) Thanks, and keep fighting the good fight. – Riana 14:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Subst User Warnings

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When using certain templates on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:uw-test1}} instead of {{uw-test1}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thank you. -- pb30<c.t> 00:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry

[edit]

Don't worry about it. What he was pretty much saying was that when adding a warnign template, instead of just putting the template name, put {{subst:templatename}} That was all he was saying, there is nothing to worry about. Karrmann 19:03, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this IP (64.56.141.163)

[edit]

I noticed you messaged this IP just now. This is a school IP, and thus, over 2,000 views happen. We can try to control the spam by blocking editing, but as long as we can still access pages. If this is possible, thanks! 64.56.141.163 18:15, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article

[edit]

It depends on what the subject is going to be on. There are many different standards that apply to articles of different subjects. Let me know what subject it is on and then I will be able to tell you what you need to do/look out for. Karrmann 00:37, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the wait, I just got caught up on some things with the project. Anyways, I think that what you should do is a normal sized paragraph about the subject, maybe a single picture, and then put {{stub}} on the bottom. Also, don't forget to catagorize it! When you are done, let me know and I will look it over if you want. Karrmann 23:37, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thank You

[edit]

No worries. Sorry for labelling them "bad" reports, that was a bit mean of me. Waggers 14:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"do we have a phrase on here for "this user is a well intentioned idiot"." - I think that comes under WP:AGF and particularly WP:BELLY. We're all well intentioned idiots. :) Waggers 14:57, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for the help on the Kingsland Explosion. It was my first article and as you can see, I am not very good at this yet. Any advice or assistance is appreciated. --Witchzilla 18:37, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • My pleasure! The main point I would make is to start providing sources for specific portions of the article. The sources you have added cover the whole article, but not specific items or claims in the article. Each paragraph or section should refer to a specific source to document the statements made. Just point to a link, book or article, and I will be happy to start showing you how to format the references. Be very careful of cutting and pasting text from other websites, which can result in articles being deleted as copyright violations, which are absolutely verboten. Welcome aboard! Alansohn 18:47, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nozzlehog

[edit]

No problem; actually, another admin blocked him (though I'd have done the same), and I just put the template on his userpage. By the way, when reporting someone at WP:AIV, it's often useful to include a brief description (e.g. "Vandalism after last warning" or "Apparent vandalism-only account"). I'm not a stickler about it, but sometimes reports get denied in high-traffic areas like AIV for formatting reasons. Anyhoo, glad to be of some service. Keep up the good work. A notice

[edit]

Hello Witchzilla, I just seen you give an anon a level 3 warning which is the wrong 1 I think you should put a level 1 or level 2 warning not a level 3 for the first vandalism edit,Regards-Arnon Chaffin (Talk) 18:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The anon has got the warnings 24 hours ago and every 24 hours you start over with the warning template, please be sure to ask your adopter User:Karrmann I sure he will explain it to you too if you don't trust me, Regards-Arnon Chaffin (Talk) 18:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't forget you also have an been adopted, your adopter is User:Karrmann right? So you could ask him any questions to, and you can also ask me:),Take Care-Arnon Chaffin (Talk) 19:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there

[edit]

Hey there! I just wanted to check in, as I haven't heard from you from a while. Is everything going OK? Karrmann 19:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no! I don't dislike you. Heck, I even left you a birthday notice with that large WIkipe-tan. I admit that I have been a bit busy lately, but I don't dislike you at all. I think you are a great editor. Keep at the vandal fighting, that Barnstar will come soon enough! ;) Karrmann 21:13, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shopanonymously

[edit]

I've properly formatted the AfD listings for this article. I wouldn't have bothered with the AfD, though. If the article creator keeps removing speedy tags, I would just keep slapping them back on, issuing successive uw-speedy2, 3, 4 warnings, and simply reporting him to WP:AIV if he persists past the final warning. The article should get speedied soon enough, with the AfD getting a speedy close as a result. --Finngall talk 16:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing the skin problem

[edit]

Hello, sorry that it took me so long to get back to you. It just goes to show how little time I have been spending here lately. Anyways, I tried to do the same and it worked for me. Are you using any kind of obscure internet browser? Make sure that you click the button on the top of the page, that is what will take you there. If it does't work, your only option to change your skin back is to click a button near the bottom of the page that says "Restore all default settings". Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask. I'm sorry that I have been such a bum.. Karrmann (talk) 16:13, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
