Here are the links for warning templates. Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace To warn someone, you first need to familiarize yourself with the circumstances that would require a warning. There are four levels of warnings for vandalism. The first one you use if it is a first time vandal. Then so on and so forth. When you click on the IP address that committed the vandalism, there should be a tab at the top that says 'discussion'. Click on it. If it is red, then the user has not received any warnings yet, it would be appropriate to give them a level one warning. If they have been warned before, pick a certain level warning that would be appropriate. Cheers. --GandalftheWise (talk) 18:38, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Custom signatures

It's possible to customise your signature, and you can put 'code' in it to have different colours.

You put the code in your preferences signature box, and checkmark the 'user raw signatures'; please note that it's fiddly, and easy to get it wrong, so it's best to best signing in a user sandbox area.

When using 'raw signatures' in your preferences, you need to manually include the links to your user and talk pages.

An example code is;

<small><span style="border:1px solid #0000ff;padding:1px;">[[User:Chzz|<b>Chzz</b>]] : [[User_talk:Chzz|<font style="color:#accC10;background:#0000fa;"> Chat </font>]] </span></small>

Which displays as Chzz :  Chat

Note that you should always include your name (or part of it), a link to your user page and talk page.

Perhaps the easiest way to learn more is simply to look at other peoples signatures, by editing the page they've signed on, and looking at the code. For an example page with several, ahem, interesting signatures, see the April 1st Request for signatureship.

Make sure things are OK before signing on any talk pages (particularly that the links to your own pages work). If it all goes horribly wrong, see Wikipedia:How to fix your signature.

For much more info on this, see Wikipedia:SIGNATURE#Customizing_your_signature.

If you need any help with it, ask here or talk to us live.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  23:55, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Blocking disruptive IPs

Hello there, I saw on GandalftheWise's talk page that you mentioned you did not know how to report disruptive editors and/or IPs so that they can be blocked. I just wanted to let you know for the future that the place for this is Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. It's OK. I just try to clean out vandalism from Wikipedia. Wireless Keyboard: Chat 13:31, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Please tell me why you consider my edit to be vandalism: [1]. You did read my edit summary, right? 66.57.4.17 (talk) 21:05, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Of course I did! When I read your changes versus the original article, I thought that your edits barely described UPILEX and its uses. When I compared the two articles, I found that the original article had more explanation on UPILEX then yours. This is why I rolled back your edit and gave you a level 1 warning on page blanking. Don't think that it's bad to get a warning, but you should consider using the sandbox and thinking if your edits were better or improved on the original article. Cheers! Wireless Keyboard: Chat 21:12, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

So your saying that you used Twinkle to revert my edit, and then gave a vandalism warning, for what is a content dispute: that you like the copy-pasted version better does not make my edit vandalism. 66.57.4.17 (talk) 21:18, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
OK, I can see your point. Maybe I shouldn't have given you a warning for your edits. But my point here is that I prefer and in-depth article that actually gives examples and tells about the certain thing then just a summary. That would probably make me go to a different site. I apologize for giving you a warning and I considered it vandalism. I probably wasn't thinking right. Sorry. Wireless Keyboard: Chat 21:25, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
OK thanks. Now we can deal with the content dispute. The text you restored is the abstract to one specific experiment and it certainly does detail the setup to it in detail (but doesn't even mention what the results are). You may like in depth articles, but Wikipedia is indented for a broad readership. Lets start with these two statements for the article:
  • "This paper describes laboratory ..."
  • "Data obtained are compared with previously published data for radiation durability testing of these polymer film materials"
Do you think that these two statements are appropriate text for a Wikipedia article? If not, how do you think they can be improved?

66.57.4.17 (talk) 21:40, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I think that the second one is great. The first one...well, I don't understand what paper that you're talking about. Maybe you could try simplifying the article, but keeping the original text there. Hope this helps! Wireless Keyboard: Chat 21:43, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmm I made a typo: those two statements are actually in the article text that you restored. That you are confused by the first statement should indicate that the text has serious issues. I disagree completely that the second is appropriate - it conveys nothing at all - encyclopedias need to present facts, not state that someone did something and leave the reader hanging.
Lets try another statement in the article
  • "Samples of fluorinated polyimides CP1 and CP2; and a polyarylene ether benzimidazole, TOR-LM™, were exposed to 40 keV electron and 40 keV proton radiation"
Nowhere in the article, or apparently anywhere in Wikipedia, are CP1, CP2, or TOR-LM defined. Sure it is in depth, but they are meaningless words. 66.57.4.17 (talk) 21:56, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
And per you message on my talk page, I had an account which I have abandoned in preference to anonymous editing. Thank you for the encouragement nonetheless. 66.57.4.17 (talk) 22:07, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the above, please check out WP:COPYVIO. The copyright to the text is owned by the original source and as such it cannot be included word-for-word in wikipedia. Cheers Nouse4aname (talk) 08:26, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Class I Laser, just a quick note to say that though your signature looks absolutely splendid, I rather suspect that it breaks at least one of the guidelines at wp:signature#Length. {{adminhelp}} Is there any other place I can report disruptive editors other then Wikipedia:Administrator Intervention Against Vandalism? Thanks Class I Laser (talk) 01:16, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

WP:AIV is only for simple vandalism. Various complex forms of vandalism can be brought up at WP:ANI.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
By the way, your signature, besides being overly long, is missing a closing span tag (</span>). I've added it manually so your signature doesn't color my post bright blue, but it's going to mess up every page you sign it to. Please go to your preferences and fix it.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
