Hi Coltsfan! What went wrong with my edit?Just asking.

Welcome

[edit]

Your recent bold edit has been reverted. Per the bold, revert, discuss cycle, after a bold edit is reverted, the status quo should remain while a discussion is started instead of edit-warring, and it should be resolved before reinstating the edit, after a needed consensus is formed to keep it.--VVikingTalkEdits 23:06, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I believe my edit was not biased.That's all.I totally don't get it.How does consensus work? VBra02 (talk) 16:27, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Answering as an uninvolved editor: VBra02, your edit was reverted because, as Viewmont Viking explained in his edit summary when he first reverted it, it gives undue weight to a particular point of view. (Admittedly, one would have to have been around Wikipedia a while to understand the shorthand he used in his summary.) You are free to agree or disagree with VV's assessment of your edit, but the guidelines of Wikipedia include a section on how to deal with this situation. It's called the Bold, Revert, Discuss (or BRD) process. So, you made a bold edit. But then you were reverted. Your next step is to then discuss the matter, preferably on the subject talk page (Talk:Jair Bolsonaro in this case). Create a new section, describe the statement that you were trying to add, and invite the reverting editor (using the {{ping}} template) to respond. Other editors may also respond. Ideally, the editors involved will eventually agree on a path forward (i.e. they will come to a consensus). I hope this explains what's going on here.
