Your signature
Hi. Your current signature, as seen here, does not meet the minimum recommended contrast per WP:SIGAPP (see the footnote there). Per this, the color 00FFFF against white gives a contrast of only 1.253:1, well below the recommended minimum of 4.5:1. That's why it's difficult to read the word "talk" in your signature. The color of your username, CC4E5C, is slightly below the minimum at 4.364:1. MOS:ONWHITE makes it easy to choose recommended colors, although it only covers named CSS colors.
Contrast is important for accessibility, something Wikipedia takes somewhat seriously. ―Mandruss ☎ 19:19, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. Thank you for making me aware of this, my signature should now be changed and meet the minimum recommend contrasts. I've taken a look at the colors in MOS:ONWHITE and changed the userpage and talkpage to #800000 and #000080. Could you check if I meet the minimum recommended contrasts? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 19:31, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- That's well above the minimum in both cases. Thanks. Just FYI, you could code Maroon in place of #800000 and Navy in place of #000080, with the only difference being that the coding would be four characters shorter. Also note that the "(talk)" will be bolded, and its link disabled, only when you post on this page. ―Mandruss ☎ 19:49, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking, replaced the color codes with Maroon & Navy, I don't think it is too big of a problem if you can't click talk when you're already on my talkpage, is it? Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 20:19, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- No, of course that's not a problem, I was just making sure you understood that your sig will be different on other pages, and why. I recommend you replace the sample you added at Wikipedia:Signature tutorial#Real-life examples, as it's a poor example for new editors. ―Mandruss ☎ 20:30, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- Alright, I replaced the signature at Wikipedia:Signature tutorial#Real-life examples. Thank you for making aware and for the help. You're amazing. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 20:38, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Good luck with your pilot training. I completed the U.S. training back in the 1990s. By the time I reached my final checkride, I was unsure I was cut out for flying, for several reasons including having panicked and barely pulled out of a solo spin. I failed the checkride because I failed to see an approaching aircraft above, and decided to give it up. I'm glad I had the experience, however. ―Mandruss ☎ 05:09, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you, too bad you failed your check ride. I'm very fortunate that in this era we have computer simulation software that can be run at home, and are a great preparation before you actually start your training as you are already familiar with some aspects of flying. And in some cases you can even get familiar with ATC if you fly on networks like Vatsim and IVOA where they try to use real-life procedures as best as possible. In about 3/4 years I'm going to hopefully start Pilot training, but I'll see what life brings me. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 09:18, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Biographies
Hi, when you linked Michael Brunström to biographies you misspelled his first name as Micheal. I don't know how to correct this.
- Hi. Thank you, I've changed it. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 12:50, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- The Wikimedia servers use HHVM to run the PHP code. They are going to use PHP7 and stop using HHVM. You can test PHP7 with a new beta feature. That way you can help find and report problems.
Problems
- When someone moves a page to a name that already exists that page that had the name the article is moved to is deleted. For a couple of months this didn't always work. Some users saw an error message instead. This has now been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 30 January at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Teahouse responses
Thanks for your help in answering questions at the Teahouse - it's much appreciated. It would really help if you would try not to engage in an identical 'webchat'-like way when responding to random posts, like the weird one about Mercury today. Instead, it's far better simply to warmly welcome the poster, but pointing out that we are a Helpdesk for those struggling to edit Wikipedia, and not a forum for general observations or random musings. That particular user had already been warned a number of times on their Talk page about that innapropriate style of communication so, by responding in a similar way, it only serves to encourage them, which is not really something we want to do. But I do appreciate you being the first responder to that person and please continue helping out whenever you can. Best wishes, Nick Moyes (talk) 14:41, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for making me aware, I obviously knew he wasn't serious but I still replied (my fault), I'll just welcome a user like that next time and point out that we are a Helpdesk not a forum. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 14:54, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

January 2019
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at User talk:Outlineincolor, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:00, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Jax 0677: Woah, thank you for for reporting this to me. I had assumed that the template would automatically do it, I'm a bit used to Twinkle (:, I'll double check next time. Kind regards, TruthToBeSpoken (talk) 18:03, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
- TruthToBeSpoken, no need to give up on Twinkle - you can add {{uw-coi}} to a set of custom user warnings as described at TW/DOC. Obviously, not useful for every template under the sun, but if there's a set of templates you use a few times, that's a handy thing. And don't worry too much, when using this reply-link script, I didn't get my post signed (it failed and I forgot to add 4 tildes). ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 17:58, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
