Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Thecamkirk. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Cam Kirk, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 19:23, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- I am not writing anything just simply updated photos that are more relevant and not poor screen grabs. I am in no way causing a conflict of interest by simply uploading a quality photograph of the celebrity. Thecamkirk (talk) 20:12, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, Thecamkirk, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as Idrisrabdullah (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Joyous! Noise! 19:29, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. Yes IdrisAbdullah is my assistant. I am a notable photographer who owns the copyright to the images we are uploading at the request of the celebrity individuals I have photographed. We will stop using multiple accounts and use my main account. Apologies if that is against guidelines. Thecamkirk (talk) 20:07, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- The other issue is that it appears that you are using Wikipedia for promotion of your photography. If you'll read over this guideline, you'll see that crediting the photographer in photo captions isn't something we do, except in very rare cases. Joyous! Noise! 21:37, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- OK that is good to know. I thought Wiki was all about giving credit to sources so that was all that I was attempting to do. If that is not correct I will no longer do that. It was not to promote my photography it was simply just giving photo credit to the source of the photograph. Thecamkirk (talk) 21:51, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
