Line breaks in Israel

New page about Israel and the UN

[edit]

Hello TelAviv1, you recently edited the page Israel and the United Nations. I invite you to have a look at my rewrite of this subject, Israel, Palestine and the United Nations. I intend to replace the first with the second. Let me know what you think. Emmanuelm 14:49, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this template should be removed from Israel because it does not link to the article. -- tariqabjotu 14:48, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I see it does link to Israel in the template's header. I think I have another solution. -- tariqabjotu 14:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to have given offense

I meant my comments only to address the probable outcome of the Israel article being considered for featured status, but clearly I ought to have let the metaphor go before I did. Tegwarrior 15:26, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Israel intro

[edit]

Please note that the intro posted in Talk was a temporary backup waiting for things to be added, as I invited. When looking on to countries with ancient pasts, such as Japan and Greece, a good part of history is devoted to it. I dont want the history of Israel to be so mixed up with the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. I am working on editing an intro. Greetings

[edit]
Hello Telaviv1. Well, that's nice of you! But I'm afraid that to give details about myself would be a violation of WP:Fringe since I appear to many as a crashing pedantic bore! I would reply to your query, but I fear that in doing so, someone might edit out my remarks by noting that they do not come from a WP:Reliable Source! I will say this, that my father fought on the right side in WW2, and brought back vivid memories of Palestine, and I had a wonderful time in both Israel and contiguous areas for several months as a young man, everywhere from Gaza city to the Golan, from the Sinai to Jerusalem. Shalom uv'rakhah/salaam. Best regards Nishidani 10:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli Media

[edit]

The Israeli press is dominated by three newspapaers, the intellectual and left-leaning Haaretz, and two more populist papers, Yediot Ahronot (which claims about 70% of readership) and Maariv. A military censor exists with the right to prevent articles being published if they are certain that an article will damage national security. Journalists can protest to the high court. In practise the censorship is easily circumvented, though editors generally abide by its decisions.

Over two thirds of Israelis have access to the internet and, although newspaper readership remains high, there has been a decline in newspaper sales as many people have switiched to reading the news online.

In addition to the Hebrew press there are Arabic newspapers and a large Russian language press as well as newspapers in Yiddish, English and French.

Television was introduced to Israel in 1968, out of concern that the newly occupied Palestinian territories would recieve most of their news from neighbouring Arab states. The national TV station is funded by a license fee. In 1993 a second channel funded by advertising went live. There is also one cable service ( Hot) and one sattelite service ( Yes). Most Israelis subscribe to one of these services which relay a wide variety of programs including broadcasts from across the Arab world and Europe.

A tag has been placed on telaviv1, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. While your improvements to the article are greatly appreciated, if you could help find some sources, that would be great; the history section (and the entire article for that matter) needs to be completely sourced if it is ever going to make it to WP:FA status. I am looking the army compositions of the forces that assaulted (and defended) Latrun during the 6 assaults of 1948.
I have them for Bin Nun A but not for the others.
Would you have them (with referenes).
I guess, maybe wrongly that you have the book of David Tal about the War of 1948. I think it could be there...

Please put accurate texts (back) in the article: [[1]] --JaapBoBo (talk) 12:49, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see no reason to doubt the figures given by Tal. He gives a period for his figures whle the figures you cite don't say to which period they refer. Perhaps you could check your sources to see where they get their figures from? that is what sources they cite? This might help see how reliable they are.

A lot of Palestinian fighters were peasants and I doubt that anyone really knows how many of them were involved, while Jewish forces were clearly growing all the time as they inducted people and immigrants arrived. i think it makes sense to inform the reader that these figures are not reliable and that different opinions exist.

POV pushing and edit warring

[edit]

You have been making some inappropriate edits to a number of articles, and I have reverted them. Instead of acting in good faith by attempting to dialog and raise consensus on the talk page, you have instead engaged in edit warring by re-insterting the disputed content (at least at Anti-Zionism). I ask you now to please stop. It is more than fine to make bold edits, but if you get reverted, the right and proper thing to do is to go to the talk page and make your proposal there. It is never ok to re-insert your controversial content, if an editor in good faith has reverted you. Please take this under consideration in the future, and try to work with the community, instead of fighting and edit warring. Thanks for your consideration.-Andrew c [talk] 16:38, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re the assassination of Lord Moyne and whether his friendship with Winston Churchill was relevant to British Conflict with Zionism, and also whether his alleged antisemitism is as relevant as his enforcement of British anti zionist policy, I responded on the talk page of that article, unless you respond on that talk page then at some point I'm liable to make a new edit - though I'll try to make it clearer why the assassination of a close friend and ally of the then British Prime minister was relevant to "British conflict with Zionism". Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi. Please use edit summaries when you make changes to an article.

Your recent changes to New antisemitism would be a lot easier to follow if you explained your rationale in edit summaries. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 21:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Identifying examples of "new antisemitism" without citing reliable sources that identify them as examples of new antisemitism is considered "original research", and Wikipedia policy expressly prohibits original research.

It doesn't matter whether it seems obvious that this or that is an example of "new antisemitism", without a reliable source that clearly identifies it as such the article cannot mention it as an example.

If you have questions about specific examples or sources, please discuss them on the Talk page. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 15:25, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources on Hamas

[edit]

Hi Telaviv1,

I saw your recent edits on Hamas and thought I should point out that MEMRI is not considered a reliable source (see discussion here). Do you have a better source for that quote?

Furthermore, the aljazeera.net link for the Khaled Mashaal quote does not seem to be working. Do you have a better one?

Cheers and thanks, pedrito - talk - 03.07.2008 12:47

Hi Telaviv1
Thanks for fixing the link! As for the MEMRI bit, it doesn't matter how clear the video is, if no media outlet other than a partisan watchdog group picked it up, it is not WP:NOTABLE...
Also, is there any special reason for making the word "Culture" boldfaced?
Cheers, pedrito - talk - 03.07.2008 14:28

Zionism and Racism

[edit]

Telaviv1, your welcome but I must tell you that I am giving serious consideration to nominating the article for deletion again, or at the very least merge it as a subsection with Zionism or Israel or anti-Zionism or racism or discrimination or Allegations of Israeli apartheid or Resolution 3379 (since defunct) or some such. My last edit to the article talk page crossed with your post on my talk page. As you might guess from my comment, I am anti-nationalist and think one of the biggest disasters of the last two centuries is the left's belief that certain nationalisms are progressive. Palestinian nationalism being a current vogue, but support for ZANU in the 70s which has created oen of the two biggest murderer's among African dictators of today, excuse making for Saddam and the Kuwait invasion are other relativey recent examples of why nationalism isn't progressive.--Peter cohen (talk) 15:00, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I intend to respond to it relatively soon. However, in the mean time, can I just ask why you've opted for two sections on the theme of AS and AZ? In the Jewish one there is a quote from the European Jewish peace group which is a response to a paper mentioned in the other section. My instinct is that the material is better grouped together. About this

[edit]

Although tonight might not be the most sober of nights to note this, I believe that our mutual 'bumpings into' may have developed some level of mutual recognition, if not acceptance; at this point in my Wiki-ishness, I consider this a positive development, compared to other things that are happening here and in the real world. It will take some time for me to digest the depth and content of this edit (and at #history, elsewhere) before I comment/edit.

I should note that I look upon the world in a very broad different light. I see the world situation (and our editing part in it) in terms of Mother Nature (my professional bias and likely the primary impetus for religion), God (as that might be differently defined and recognized), survival of the fittest (scientific non-God Darwin, my professional learning), humane survival of all (human rights), and the fact (like it or not) that shit happens. For me, these truths/impressions should be recognized and considered with a typically American acceptance that many different pieces are required to make the puzzle complete, neutrally; I believe that a reasonable definition of this would be "Live and let live" (which I feel is considerably more American than currently indicated on the dab page).

Based on that, I can say with impunity that, "Life is a sexually transmitted, fatal disease." It is neither incorrect nor inaccurate, yet it misses several important steps along the way between the truth expressed and a factual expression of those truths.

With that said, I look forward to our future collaboration. Regards, CasualObserver'48 (talk) 15:40, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Zionism

[edit]

Hi Telaviv1, I'm sure that your edits are in good faith, but to begin the article on anti-Zionism in its first section with contemporary debates about a relationship with antisemitism, before any overview of the topic whatsoever, seems an extremely odd way to write an article. Certainly I've seen articles that start with a history of the topic, along with articles that begin with an overview, but I'm hard pressed to think of any that would, or do, start with a discussion of one type of contemporary debate. Can you explain this? It seems you've also replaced it, even removing the overview paragraph, without any comment. Mackan79 (talk) 07:45, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rev Cells

[edit]

(P. S.: I know this is a bit much, but I wanted to make the point that the Rz, contrary to german Wikip (and then en Wikip) did not just explode on the scene from nowhere.) I have not found much serious stuff on the net about the early rz. But I am now even more convicted, that this group at that time was basically a Frankfurt-only affair.

Rz different in style from the Raf? Rz' s founders were not at all that different in outlook and livestyle and experiences from raf people like Holger Meins and Jan Carl Raspe. Raspe had been in the Berlin Kommune 2 and his Diplomarbeit in education (actually quiet good, sadly enough) was published with Frankfurt maoist publishers Roter Stern Verlag, not yet called Stroemfeld ("field of streaming energy"), still a very non Hölderlin-facsimile publishing thing. (Even later on Weather manifesto Prairie Fire will be published there)
One of Red Star's steady sellers was a maoist journal in communist education, "Erziehung and Kommunikation", around which a militant group seems to have established itself at the heart of publishers. The name of these people is not well known, at least not well published, and I really don't know how many of those MLers (if any) will later opt for the urban guerilla lifestyle. (But it is also clear that even very early Rz was not just the 4 known names. There will also have been contacts to Berlin and other places. PP Zahl?).

Back to firmer ground and the rz proper: My main sources here are H- J Klein and then Werner Olles, ex-german sds, also from Frankfurt, who says he was with early rz guys in the "Red Panthers" group, (but publishes now in a very rightwing and perhaps not that serious journal).

Anyway, what it boils down to is: The early Rz was in a thing called Frankfurt Black Panthers Solidarity Group, and esp. in its follow-up group Red Panthers, who had the same Cleaveresk "lumpenproletariat -strategie" as pre-raf raf. Most of early RZ also worked at the Roter Stern Verlag. This enterprise was founded by KD Wolff, SDS student protest leader, after a time at then also half maoist März Verlag. Wolff was for some time to come a fanatical Kim IL Sung worshiper. To say it bluntly: it looks now as if the Rz were for a while the armed wing of KD Wolff's enterprise.

The early Black Panthers solidarity group was very popular with many people from different groups on the broader left (it was the time of Angela Davis). It said it helped black-power and BPP soldiers from the US army HQ nearby, it said it collected money for the poor BPP prisoners in fascist KKK land (which means Eldridge's private purse): collected moneys were fueled into Cleaver's Algiers cartheft enterprise. The BP Solidarity Committee published 4 small things with Roter Stern publishers. (A bit later a book with loose sheets, educational material on "Amerikka" to be taught by radical teachers at gymnasiums everywhere in the Federal Republic was also brought forth at Roter Stern).

KD Wolff was also in this BPP Solidarity thing, made Weinreich ((not in en Wikip)) (Red Panthers) his right hand man at Roter Stern, RZ founder W. Böse (long on the scene, BPP solidarity group) was put on the Roter Stern payrole. Pro forma photographer for Roter Stern, but really used for underground work with passports etc. was Weinrich' s soon to be girlfriend ....(later long time common-law wife of Carlos). Brigitte Kuhlmann (who will die at Entebbe) had also been with the Red Panthers.

Böse was already well known in Frankfurt for his more-extreme-than-thou and outspoken attitude (as far as I know he was then not denounced by "the scene"). On this "scene" Böse and H-J Klein openly advocated the (to many radical leftists) off-putting execution of June2nd traitor Ulrich Schmücker.

Böse (says Klein, but Böse was then already dead) later told Klein, he had fetched the arab Munich September massacre terrorists from the airport to Munich (this is in Klein's autobiography, rororo aktuell).

There were many people in Black Panthers Solidarity (and in Angela David support), some happily boasting about it on tv chatshows, and many more on the "scene". Only a tiny part of which went on to put up the gun. The marxist and militant Revolutionärer Kampf, Joschka Fischer's and Danny Cohn-Bendit' s group, to just name 2 of H.-J. Klein' s friends, did work at Opel and strangely enough continued for a while to dream of a working class revolution (Fischer is said to have had Stalin's real name as a nickname then), they fought mock battles in the woods (often with Klein) and real battles in the Westend ("Häuserkampf"), "always" with Klein, but Klein' s good friends from the scene (Werner Olles gives the names) did not become terrorists.--Radh (talk) 14:15, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could I ask you to discuss your reversion of my edits to Holocaust denial on the Talk:Holocaust denial page, please? These were not done "quietly", as you suggest in your edit summary. I advised on the Talk page ahead of time what I was going to do, I included a descriptive edit summary with each change describing briefly why I was removing them, and I listed each removal on the talk page with a more detailed explanation. Can we discuss this? - EronTalk 20:49, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hist of Jews in Poland

[edit]

I think the way you put it in now is probably the best. There are other sources which give some comparable figures in a time period of about + or - 100 years, though usually lower (basically 50% to 70%). Personally, my guess though is that all the sources are probably being Eurocentric about this and what they mean when they say 80% of World's Jews is 80% of Europe's Jews.radek (talk) 05:08, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A delayed response

[edit]

A long overdue reply to your nice February note awaits you on my talk page. Please forgive the delay. Hertz1888 (talk) 02:30, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

my addition is directly from the source. if you have sources to add that further explain the situation, please add them. however, don't continue to remove sourced information in a section that specifically says it needs expanding.

in addition, there is a section on the talk page to discuss this - please reply there.

also, those links you have added to antisemitism are not relevant to that section. Criticism of Zionism is not equal to antisemitism, and it is undue and misleading to include all those links implying that they are the same thing. untwirl(talk) 14:14, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Jonathan. Upon looking back in the edit history I see that the major deletion you made in this article two days ago has been restored, deleted, and restored again (the latest by me, as initially I saw no explanation for it). You may wish to redo this edit, along with giving a more elaborate justification. Hertz1888 (talk) 18:45, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry Notice

[edit]

I have blocked indefinitely the account, Boatduty177177, as a sockpuppet of your account. Please note that using multiple accounts disruptively on wikipedia is prohibited. If you were to continue to use accounts disruptively, your main account will receive a block. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me on my talk page. Icestorm815Talk 16:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser evidence has found both your accounts to be unrelated. As such, I have unblocked the account of User:Boatduty177177 and removed the sockpuppetry tags. Due to checkuser policy, checkuser can only be used in specific instances, so a majority of our cases at WP:SPI are handled by behavioral evidence. I'm sorry that your account was incorrectly involved in this situation and I apologize for any inconveniences this has brought you. Icestorm815Talk 20:04, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Following up my comments at your arb request, I trust this is an end of the matter. I'm disappointed that you still think I'm prejudiced (if you do), because my reaction to those comments of yours on Talk:Self-hating Jew should have made my feelings on that subject quite clear. Talk:Self-hating Jew

[edit]

I'm sorry you thought my comments were patronizing. I didn't intend them to be.

I understand why you're upset about the unfounded accusations of sockpuppetry and other comments. If you feel that Rd232/Disembrangler should be reprimanded or punished for her/his conduct, you should complain at WP:AN/I (but be advised that you may not get a sympathetic hearing now that a couple of days have passed). — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 17:36, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the interests of moving things forward, it might be helpful to delete or archive the "Rd232 false accusations" section on that page, since clearly this is over and it distracts from the ongoing issue about the article. Also, I haven't actually apologised for the WP:SPI thing; I felt I had good reason to ask the sockpuppet question, but clearly the answer was "no", and it wouldn't have been a pleasant experience for you. Sorry. Also, I did overreact originally to your interpretation of my remark about your username (though it was combined with something about rudeness which was a massive stretch, which didn't help...). I don't have a racist bone in my body and your insinuation of anti-semitism (which I see now from your point of view why you might have thought that; I hope you also see that this wasn't the case) made me quite angry and lose my ability to assume good faith. Sorry. Rd232/Disembrangler (talk) 19:00, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the section for reasons noted above. If you think it needs to be archived instead, feel free to undelete and archive. Disembrangler (talk) 19:32, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration request declined

[edit]

Hello, Telaviv1. A recent Arbitration request in which you were named as a party, "telaviv1: "trial" resulting from sockpuppetryaccusation", has been declined by the Arbitration Committee. You can review the reasons why the Arbitrators felt this case was not appropriate for arbitration at the archived version here; most probably, the declination would have been because the dispute appeared to be primarily a content issue only or because there was not enough effort to address this problem through other forms of dispute resolution prior to the filing of the request. If this issue is still in need of resolution, please consider pursuing other forms of dispute resolution (such as a request for comment or informal or formal mediation). Should you have any questions, feel free to contact me or another clerk.

[edit]

In History of Israel, I saw that you added 'In 1799 Napoleon briefly occupied the coast and prepared a proclamation offering to create a Jewish state but did not issue it.' - what is the source for this? LoverOfTheRussianQueen (talk) 16:34, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tel Aviv airport massacre

[edit]

I like to ask a favor from you. On German Wikipedia the early 70s Lod massacre perpetrated by three Japnese Red Army cadre is said to have happened rather spontanenously. My random lecture on the JRA says no way, but I need a serious source, so far the best I can do is an interview with a hard-core arab-JRA film-director. Would you know of anything more presentable? But if you think it really was a completely illogical act (measured against the logic of the PFLP, who loved the idea of non-arab terrorists or the logic of a small JRA then fresh in exile in Palestine) or if the general idea in Israel is, that it was such an act, please say so.--Radh (talk) 18:08, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, ĩt is very appreciated. I am just reading a Sept., 9 and following dates 2007 Neojaponism interview with Patricia Steinhoff on the whole JRA mess and also on the Lod attack, in this interview she comes on very pro-JRA, which is a bit strange, she may have been under the influence of the autobiography of the former Arab-JRA leader, Shinegobu. She calls the attack a non-suicide attack, which goes against all my convictions. [2].
Just read that the lawyer for the Lod guy Okamoto was in the Entebbe plane and talked to Böse! It is a small world. Found in a book by Oliver Schröm on Carlos (google-books, but in German).
Just finished by notes for the history of the JRA, a subject which I know next to nothing about. But I learned something about Japanese terrorism, I guess: 1.) When the newly formed United Japanese Red Army, not much more than 20 people all in all from two different groups met and started training in the winter of 1971/'72, the result of this merger was 12 dead, murdered by their comrades in orgies of selfcriticism. 2.) the hard-core of the group of the Red Army that went to Lebanon in the early 1970s, the ones that were not sympathisers, film-makers and so on, but real terrorists numbered not more than 6 or 7 people. 3 of those went on the suicidal Lod mission. The female leader of this Arab-JRA group, who planned the Lod attack had lost her best friend in the 1971/'72 massacre and was to loose a boy-friend at the airport. All the most radical Japanese militants from '69 and all the terrorists were from elite universities or at least from good technical schools, Bis bald, Ralf.--Radh (talk) 23:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:04, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to use edit summaries. I don't know why you made your edits and they don't seem an improvement, so I've reverted them. Maybe you need to discuss them on the talk page if they are meant to make some sort of point. Dougweller (talk) 14:50, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ostrovsky conspiracy & Waldheim

Hi, in this edit you removed referenced material. Why? This was already in the bullshit section of the article so there is no reason to do this - unless the references were in fact not supporting the statements in the text or completely made up. April 2011

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to History of Israel. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. You clearly know you should be making edit summaries as you do at times, and of course you've been reminded above about them. Your edits can be reverted at any time simply because you haven't explained them. Dougweller (talk) 13:55, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses

[edit]

I don't want to get into an edit war with you, and I sure as hell am not a Nazi sympathizer. However, the Jewish boycott of German goods article appears to imply that the Nazi boycott was a counter-boycott that was afterwards and in response to the Jewish boycott of German goods (although there is only one source to back this up). I'm sure that a Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses was inevitable, and they probably were only using the Jewish boycott as a convenient excuse, but nonetheless, this seems to me to be important context that should not be removed entirely from the article. I'll let your edit stand; what do you think? Wingman4l7 (talk) 00:48, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response to this on my talk page; that article from The Independent definitely puts The Daily Mail's article into a proper historical perspective. Sorry for causing the ensuing mini-edit war! Wingman4l7 (talk) 01:18, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it. There is now a notice on the talk page, so you must not exceed 1RR. It's not a voluntary code, and I think I should add that I calling ordinary edits vandalism is not a good idea(and certainly caught my attention), and if you revert anything that is not vandalism according to WP:VANDALISM that counts as 1 revert. Differences of opinion don't count as vandalism. Dougweller (talk) 15:26, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal

[edit]

It isn't strange that the only tiny developed democratic country in the Middle East (the only place where Arabs are truly free) is the only one that has an entire article dedicated to their enemies' accusations (real or invented), but countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran or the Palestinians don't have one. My proposal is to create a page about Criticism of the Iranian government... starting with simple facts: it's a theocratic regime which finances terrorism (Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Revolutionary Guards, etc), kills dissidents in Europe, bombs Beirut and Buenos Aires, helps to violently suppress protests in Syria (where its allied dictator is facing major problems) and inside Iran, promotes violence against defenseless civilians in Israel, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq, possesses ambitions in Bahrain, scares Sunni Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and threatens to close the strait of Hormuz, violates Human Rights, threatens to erase Israel from the Earth, it's an oligarchical-clerical dictatorship that hangs homosexuals, denies the Holocaust, perpetrates terrorist attacks in Thailand, Georgia, India, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, Cyprus, Bulgaria (at least 24 countries in five continents)... kills diplomats and tourists, assaults embassies, has an antisemitic imperialist ideology full of dangerous suicidal fanatics and misogynists, stones women for committing "sexual offenses", has genocidal aspirations against another nation, oppresses minorities, has religious ambitions of regional and global power... a danger for the world in general and Israel and the Jewish people in particular. I mean, don't you think we should remove Wikipedia's double standard regarding criticism of other countries?? I'll let you think about it and if you want starting the new article. Greetings.--JellWaffle (talk) 23:37, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

6th Airborne Division in Palestine is currently one of Wikipedia's Good Articles, written largely by two talented military history contributors. Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your long-term diplomatic efforts to improve Wikipedia . Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Editor RightCowlLeftCoast submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate User Telaviv1 to be Editor of the Week for being a fair-minded and quality editor for many years. With 80% article-space editing among his 6000 edits, his ability to edit fairly on articles with often contentious subject matters due to real world global politics is commendable. His main interest is the article History of Israel. He has edited with an understanding of mutual editorial recognition and the collaboration of equals. He was willing to discuss contentious material which was constantly at issue. His own statement, "(my) edits are made in good faith and are not out of a desire to sell political points." is a clear indication of his awareness that Wikipedians, when working together, can create quality content together, even across disputed boundaries.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Editor of the Week : nominations needed!

[edit]

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to History of Israel may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • ===Persian and Hellenistic rule (538 BCE - 135 BCE ===
  • history_9.html Jerusalem in the Crusader Period] Jerusalem: Life throughout the ages in a holy city] David Eisenstadt, March 1997</ref> The [[Pogroms of 1096|murder of Jews]] began as the Crusaders

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:06, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Elisha Medical Center

[edit]

Hello Mister Telaviv1, recently I have written an article about a hospital in Israel: the Elisha Medical Center, but now they want to erase this article because they say it's "promotional" and "not encyclopedic", what can I do?, I honestly think that this article has interest and deserves to be in the english wikipedia, I dont have an agenda nor I dont try to promote a bussiness or something, I just think that the article is good enough to be in wikipedia, I read that you are in the so-called "Israel project", and that's why I have wrote to you this message, I'm also interested about Israel, and also write articles in Spanish and Catalan sometimes, I'm from Spain. Tag date changes

[edit]

What is up with that? You failed to respond to my objection. Can you explain? Also, sources need to accompany additions — we are not mind readers. Thanks. El_C 14:55, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what you mean by tag dates. As I can see from the previous comment, you were very hasty in changing the section and your reversal does not seem to be based on familiarity with the subject. Not sure why you call yourself "we". I am just me. I am the author who originally entered the Persian conquest in this article. I think it is both very interesting and relevant to modern affairs. I am still learning about the subject. I have a job and childern and so am pressed for time. My apologies if my changes does not meet your high standards. I am open to suggestions for improvement.
You changed the tag from July to Oct., for no apparent reason. It is at the top of the page. By we I mean both myself and the other editor who was about to revert you as well, as well as the community of editors, overall. My standards are grounded in Wikipedia policy. Other editors have no way to tell whether you're going to be adding sources or not. One way to instill patience on that regard is to employ the {{In use}} template, so that would be my suggestion to you. El_C 15:39, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please always sign and date your comments by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end. Thanks again. El_C 15:42, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

[edit]

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar
