I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Many precedents show that a Wikipedia article about a sanctioning body should not have external links to driver's websites. A discussion can be done with members of WikiProject Motorsport to confirm my assertion, but I am certain that the external links to the drivers will end up being deleted. Be forewarned, there is a possibly that the increased exposure for the article could easily result in someone nominating the article for deletion since the series is definitely non-national and it is barely regional. I'm sure you don't want that result. Royalbroil 13:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can compromise on changing the external links to an external link placed on the driver's name above the external links (in the championship and ROTY sections). Royalbroil 13:25, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have contested the speedy deletion for his article as I am well aware of some of his many racing accomplishments. I saw your edits to Slinger and Rockford's articles which I developed. I'll help you develop an article on Shear. Next time I suggest writing an article in your own person sandbox (known as your userspace). After you have completed the article, then you first post it in the viewable area (known as mainspace). Next time you want to develop and article, leave me a message here and I'll guide you through it. Do you plan to work on the article any more right now, or should I have at it? Several things besides our discussion on my talk page. First, please sign your comments by typing in 4 tildas (~~~~). Then anyone can tell who said what. A bot is wasting time marking your edits as unsigned. Second, images on Wikipedia are real complicated. Basically, you should not upload any image unless you took it yourself. Images from other websites won't stay, except under a few circumstances. Please save yourself time and don't bother with images. Royalbroil 03:54, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the article is in much better shape. It is still missing his ASA championships, so please add that information. I can't find the exact years.
Please make sure that you expand using sentences instead of bullets. There's a chance that I might nominate it for the main page's Did You Know section for the best new articles (after saving from speedy deletion!!!). So please be very careful to cite your sources. It's fine if that means providing me the source information so that I can format it properly. Time is of the essence with DYK, because nominations have to be less than 5 days old. I won't have time to get that Grubba book from the interlibrary loan to see the content on the page that is missing in the google books preview. Royalbroil 13:37, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I already nominated the article T:DYKT#Articles_created.2Fexpanded_on_October_12 using the hook: Did You Know ... that despite failing health, American racer Joe Shear won four of his last five races? Sorry, I should have notified you. You will get credit for starting the article as long as it runs. Royalbroil 03:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Joe Shear

[edit]
Updated DYK query On 18 October, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Joe Shear, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
