Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:48, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo2.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo.JPG. The copy called Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Orphaned non-free media (Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo2.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ProjectRunwayPhilippinesLogo2.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:03, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Wyngard Tracy

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Wyngard Tracy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Adding an open copyright tag to an image such as Image:Adele_Adkins.jpg that is not yours is not a good idea. Wwwhatsup (talk) 04:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I merely helped the original uploader. What's wrong with that? Starczamora (talk) 13:31, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How could you divine the uploader's intent? It's like giving away someone else's property, just because they haven't locked it up. Wwwhatsup (talk) 13:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't Wikipedia about "helping" other users? If what I did was wrong, fine, delete the image. Starczamora (talk) 13:36, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Helping other users is one thing. Placing open copyright tags on other people's images is another. To help the user, it would be best to leave advice on his/her user talk, as I did. Wwwhatsup (talk) 00:02, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Non-free promotional discussion

[edit]

Hello, Starczamora. Since you recently contributed to the lively deletion discussion for Template:Non-free promotional, I thought I'd let you know that I've continued the discussion about this template at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#Template:Non-free promotional. The result of the deletion discussion was to keep the template, but there are still some questions about whether the current template serves a useful purpose and how to prevent its misapplication. Please contribute to the discussion if you are interested. —Bkell (talk) 17:55, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored it per your request (?) on my talk page. This has nothing to do with a systemic bias. It has to do with the fact that there's no mention of this Wikipedia in any third party sources, and that it doesn't seem notable. I was not aware it was monitored under the WP:TAMBAY WikiProject, but if its notability isn't established I will nominate it for deletion. Yonatan talk 05:14, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then that would have deleted ALL article about different versions of Wikipedia, would it? Starczamora (talk) 05:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, just the ones that are not notable. Being a Wikipedia does not qualify a website to be an article. The English Wikipedia, and for example, the Hebrew Wikipedia, are very well known throughout their respective languages and are covered by third party sources. If the Tagalog Wikipedia is as well, then it may very well be notable in which case it deserves an article - if it isn't then it probably doesn't. Yonatan talk 05:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Gucci Gang controversy

[edit]

An editor has nominated Gucci Gang controversy, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gucci Gang controversy and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've also done more than 3 reverts in a 24-hour period at Gucci Gang controversy. Unless your reverts fall under one of the exceptions listed in the WP:3RR policy, you might want to self-revert back to the IP's version so that you'll no longer be in violation. --Coppertwig (talk) 16:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for the current situation with Pinoy-related topics on Uncyclopedia. It would appear that various English-language articles on Philippines have been repeatedly vandalised, deleted or locked. The main article on that nation has been reposted here - http://uncyclopedia.info/wiki/tl:Philippines/en - in case you'd like to recover any content from it. And no, there's nothing preventing the creation of Tagalog articles, just so long as they're named with the prefix Babel:Tl/ (if on English Uncyc) or are posted to the tl: wiki. Sorry about that. --carlb (talk) 19:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The best thing we can do is to be vigilant and report on any sockpuppet sightings. Starczamora (talk) 15:02, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He is blocked now but will likely turn up again on another account. I was considering reverting back to before the latest socks started editing but see that others have made significant edits since then. It would be good if someone knowledgeable about the subject would go over what he did and remove stuff that doesn't belong. --NrDg 15:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think he's at it again, this time with another username - admins, please investigate on User:Mhtsw... God Bless and see you around... Blake Gripling (talk) 01:45, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. He hasn't fit the pattern yet but could be a cached sock. --NrDg 01:56, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should a ban or an arbitration case be necessary on him? Blake Gripling (talk) 02:01, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He may be OK and just another fan-boy who wants to turn the article into a shrine. Gerald has a pretty standard pattern he follows - I won't describe it as he does watch these conversations, but it is somewhat obvious. The restore of fancruft is consistent but not proof yet. You might be able to appease him a bit if you can include some of his stuff in a summary or compacted form instead of just removing it. Your choice, I don't know the subject well enough to edit the article. He is mostly benign annoying but disruptive none the less. --NrDg 02:41, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but the act of sockpuppetry is bad, right? And judging from his edits, I think it's either comment out, or just remove the unnecessary stuff; for example, he said that Angel's the most wanted product endorser, then why not state it in a favorable and neutral point of view, sans the excessive knick-knacks, such as the products that she endorses? OK, I'll revise the article a bit... Oh, and look at the profane comments he made above; isn't that against WP:CIVIL? Blake Gripling (talk) 02:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if we can prove it, which we can't yet. If he behaves himself I would be willing to give him another chance. Comments not shown to be Mhtsw. Best would be to try to cleanup what he adds, he generally adds references, to remove the puffery and cut to the key points. --NrDg 03:05, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
