Opps. I don't know where that error re the Canadian Privy Council came from, especially as I had a copy of the British North America Act in front of me at the time. Well spotted. FearÉIREANN 04:04, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)
I noticed that you separated "Legislative Branch" out of Legislature, which may be a good idea. There was however an earlier article existing at "Legislative branch", which was redirected to Legislature. I restored that entry and moved text there. The two texts still needs merging however at Legislative branch. -- Mic 09:05, Mar 3, 2004 (UTC)
409
[edit]The article DOES reflect that the 409 is owned by the GTAA west of the 427, as, if you had read my alterations, I added the sentence: "The portion of Highway 409 west of Highway 427 is owned and operated by the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, though it is still signed as Highway 409."
In the future, please sign your comments on people's talk pages (by using ~~~~), especially if you expect a response. Darkcore 22:49, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- It's not really the same thing. Park Lawn Road was a QEW exit, but is now a Gardiner Expressway exit as a result of the downloading, so if there was a Park Lawn exit listing in a QEW article, it would just be moved to the Gardiner article. That section of the 409 is still called the 409, even if it is no longer owned by the provincial government, so they are still "409" exits even if, officially, they are not part of the 409. Great maps!
[edit]Just wanted to note that I really appreciate your 400-Series Highway maps. Very well-made and illustrative. Radagast 13:47, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)
From what I can tell, the original article at [[low-budget freeway]] was intended to cover more than just freeways with RIRO ramps, but also super-2s with normal interchanges. I'm not all that sure that that article should exist, so maybe it should be moved to RIRO and talk specifically about those ramps.
I moved super-2 expressway back to super-2, as that term is always used, but whether to add freeway or expressway on the end is a regional thing. A super-2 expressway can refer to a two-lane surface road built to high standards. I also readded the part about the possibility of a median barrier; some super-2s like RI 78 have them. --SPUI (talk) 03:37, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It may be inconsistent, but the term super-2 is used for divided two-lane freeways. --SPUI (talk) 03:42, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I've seen roads like I-93 through Franconia Notch and RI 78 called super-2s; both have a Jersey barrier with one lane on each side. --SPUI (talk) 03:52, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You added a claim to the Digital AMPS page stating that: Rogers Wireless removed all 1900 MHz IS-136 in 2003, and is slowly doing the same with their 800 MHz spectrum as the equipment fails. It is not unusual for a Rogers D-AMPS customer to have coverage in a specific location one day, and then none in that same area the next. I was wondering what you had based this second sentence on? I'm an 800 MHz TDMA user and find the coverage to be really good. But then my phone is also AMPS capable, so perhaps I'm switching over to old analog sites. Anyways, I'm just wondering if you can substantiate this claim in any way, it seems like POV to me but if it's true then perhaps it just needs to be reworded. Musser 21:15, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedians in Niagara?
[edit]Hey there,
I noticed you categorised yourself as a Wikipedian in St. Catharines. Instead of me just making Wikipedians in Welland, Ontario for myself, would you be interested in creating a more broad Wikipedians in Niagara category, much like Wikipedians in Toronto did?
--qviri 16:14, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
- OK, I made Category:Wikipedians in Niagara, hopefully I didn't mess up too much. 'tis my first time creating a category... --qviri 13:21, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Strategic Counsel polls
[edit]Thanks for adding the Strategic Counsel polls to Opinion polling in the Canadian federal election, 2006. Can you use the date the polling was completed though, rather than the release date? I'm assuming that what you just added was January 10th, as the January 9th report came out yesterday (and got to SC's website today), and it can't be January 11th, as it's was only just after 10 pm Eastern, 7 pm Pacific when you posted, so they will still be on the phone doing the polling. [edit]Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Honorific prefix
[edit]Hi there. I noticed you added "Hon." to Emerson's name in the David Emerson page. The Wikipedia manual of style, which is generally followed for other ministers, suggests this not be used (presumably to reduce clutter). For example, there are no honorifics at the beginning of the articles on Tony Clement, Stephen Harper, or Paul Martin. Nevermind, I was confused (someone else did this, but what you added was an image, which is fine). Sorry about that. --Saforrest 18:15, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Colouring on Image:StCatsOntario.png
[edit]Hey, I'm wondering if there's any particular reason as to why the Town of Grimsby and Township of West Lincoln are coloured in with a different colour than the other municipality in Image:StCatsOntario.png? It also seems like Wainfleet's colour is slightly different... I'm just curious. --Qviri (talk) 21:05, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
St. Catharines article
[edit]Glad to see your time and effort put into the article, it's encouraging for me and pays off large! (Trappy 08:09, 16 April 2006 (UTC))
Hey man, I was thinking the exact thing about the Facer article, I plan to get out and take some pictures this week, as I would love images of the church you have mentioned, the Mary Shrine off Garnet Street, plus some images of commercial signs in polish, italian etc...if you ever have a suggestion for photos, just let me know as I would be happy to take them.
- Hey there, I spent an hour today walking around the Facer street area, and took quite a number of photographs; images of churchs, stores, signs etc.. I hope to add a few of them to the page, I also took a photo of the St.Cyril & Methodus church which provided for some beautiful colours ( I took it at 1pm when the sun was bright). In speaking with a woman that works at the ABC daycare on Facer, she mentioned graffiti being a HUGE problem in that area and indeed I noticed...so i took some pictures of graffiti too, perhaps we can include a graffiti problem section to the article. I should be uploading the pictures sometime late tonight, let me know what you think. Trappy 18:52, 20 April 2006 (UTC)::: I added a photograph to the Facer article, however I found the Wiki Commons very frustrating for uploading photographs, I managed to upload only one picture of the Sts. Cyril Methodius Church but didn't bother uploading the others I have of storefronts and signs, check it out --Trappy 05:29, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hey man. I just wanted your personal opinion on the changes I recently made to the article. I felt that the Notable Figures section was getting a bit too long and taking up too much valuable space, so I moved it to its own article like many of the major city articles have been doing. I also revamped the Shopping Section because much of the information I had originally typed up was simply repeated in the individual mall articles. I just deleted the information I had typed on Lincoln Mall because I dont really think it was that important to begin with. But if you recommend I put the information back, I'll just give Lincoln Mall its own page (though I don't think its worthy of one). Should there be links as to where each retail destination is located within the city? Let me know Trappy 22:08, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Instead of just reverting, you could tell me what you think is broken with my edits, then we could work together to fix it, instead of just going back and forth. ed g2s • talk 10:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Facer St.
[edit]Hey, I'm wondering if you would be able to snap some photographs of the Facer St. area during the World Cup Italy-France match this Sunday. Apparently, there is going to be a big celebration (and possibly street closure) with large scale displays of Italian patriotism. I would do it myself, but I am going to be in Ottawa all weekend...I thought it would be great for the Facer article. Trappy 00:44, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
St. Catharines Ward Map
[edit]You've done a great deal of work on the St. Catharines page - THANKS! - The ward map you created has a minor, though significant error. You've exchanged St. Andrews' and St.Patricks' wards on your map. St. Andrews contains Brock and sits south of the 406, whereas St. Patricks is the Ward in the Downtown / Martindale Area.
- Doh, you're right. I'll fix that ASAP. Snickerdo 22:56, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Snickerdo,
I want to drop by and ask you a question, kindly. Where did you get the 407 Logo from? Did you create it yourself, or copy from the internet? (Don't worry, I am not here to prosecute you or something). I am just curious, and whether or not I should do the same thing.

[edit]Snickerdo,
Wasn't Partington a St. Catharines Representative on the Regional Council in the brief period before he was re-elected as chair? Response to AMA Request
[edit]Hello Snickerdo, I'm Dfrg.msc (talk · contribs) and I'll be your Advocate for your case: Wikipedia:Association of Members' Advocates/Requests/January 2007/Snickerdo. It is apparent that the user that you have been involved in conflict Yankees76 (talk · contribs) has launched a counter-AMA Case Wikipedia:Association of Members' Advocates/Requests/January 2007/Yankees76. I will find a resolution to this, hoverer, you must be patient and civil. You have done the right thing in requesting an Advocate.
If you have any questions, just ask me at my talk page. Regards, Dfrg.msc 06:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- No problems at all, it may take me a few days to get started though, there is a huge amount of information to trawl though. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 06:15, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Official Response
[edit]Thankyou for your patience. It seems a case of the classic, incivil edit war, although yours was more of a skirmish. I understand the amount of work you have done. Quite a lot, you are to be congratulated on that.
Perhaps Yankees76's choice of template was not suitable or that he though you were a vandal. It seems his intentions were to get you to stop you deleting content he added.
The only point of conflict that remains is is:
- Does Yankees76 still want the information in the Article? If so, then we will find a solution and compromise as to where to put it and how to put it in there. Yankees76 has a point, no-one owns pages, and we all have a say in what goes into them, if the information is true and relevant, there should be no reason to omit it.
It is true that you were:
- In-civil
- Offensive
- Un-cooperative
- Irrational
However, it is good that you have realized and acknowledged your mistakes and actions and are seeking to make a means, and if you (and it appears you already are) adopt a new style of editing based around civility and co-operation, no further action should be taken against you and we can forget your discrepancies.
It would be a great show of good faith is you apologized to Yankees76 for your personal attacks. Regards, Dfrg.msc 07:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Right, as it seems you have found a solution I am officially declaring this case closed. Reagards, Dfrg.msc 04:45, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- No problem Snickerdo, I'm happy to do it. I'm sure those involved have already forgotten about it. Your a good editor, and if you need anything, just ask. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 21:51, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:NichoR.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You are invited to a WikiProject!
[edit]Hi Snickerdo,
I, hereby represent the whole team of WP:GHR, invite you to join us at WP:GHR! I had reviewed your contributions and have found that you are extremely proficient of Niagara Region! We are in need of users like that since we have none in our team. Before I forget, I have to mention the scope of the project. Well, WP:GHR is a project where we are trying to include all important roads (the regional roads, and the arteries, and the historically-significant ones) in the Golden Horseshoe (both inner ring and outer ring), that is, the area east to Peterborough, west to Kitchener Waterloo, south to Port Colborne, and north to Gravenhurst. Well, you might think we are pretty boring because we are just creating articles for roads. Well, the truth is, we are not! We are currently expanding the project, so that we will no just include roads, but buildings, landmarks, communities, and et cetera. Nhl4hamilton is doing a good example of that. Also, we set up some Outreach department, and we are starting to work on newsletter, and template. Don't forget, the project is very young, only 3 months old!
As a part of WP:GHR, WE REALLY WANT YOU TO JOIN US!

Image:StCatsGlenridge2.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on Image:Image:StCatsGlenridge2.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a redundant (all pixels the same or scaled down) copy of Image:Image:StCatsGlenridge2.jpg, in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not Commons), and all inward links have been updated (CSD I1).
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}

Unspecified source for Image:Leslemfrost.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Leslemfrost.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Logo407.GIF)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Logo407.GIF. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Art Deco Facade
[edit]Thanks for reverting that information, as it was originally correct. St. Catharines City Hall may not be the most stunning example of the Art Deco style, but it definately was designed in that way. I was planning to change to the information myself, thanks for doing it. Trappy 19:14, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:John black aird.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:John black aird.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

First of all, thank you for joining us!
We will soon be expanding from a road project to a local project (which means including landmarks, and pretty much everything in the Golden Horseshoe), and I hope you can help us!
Enclosed is a map of census divisions (so, counties/ regions / cities), and colour coded to show how are we doing in different parts of the Golden Horseshoe, and how much articles are written. Over the summer, I will create another similar one. The white parts of the map means that we will start to work on these areas, after the expansion of the project. (So, that is, after the creation of WP:QCWC (WikiProject Quebec City-Windsor Corridor).
I am sorry to say, but the region you live in (I believe it's Niagara Region is one of the census divisions on our "Red List", meaning it has none or very few articles about the local roads. I have to admit my team members and I were focusing a lot at York Region, Toronto, and Hamilton, Ontario.

Niagara Regional Roads template
[edit]Hi Snickerdo,
Thanks for making such a good job on the Niagara Regional Roads template. It's just good to see that Ontario has SO many road navigational templates than other provinces, and our project is certainly expanding, if you look at this. I remember when I started it, it was barely 2 lines, now it has almost 3.
I am starting to work on some of the Niagara Roads. The first one I've finished is Niagara Regional Road 81. It is quite short, but not too short that I would call it a stub. Myself is not quite familiar with Niagara Region, since I live all the way across the lake. So, it's up to you if you want to add something to the article. I also need some more shield images to go with the articles. What font and colour did you use? If you don't want to tell me, that's fine, but just make some more for Niagara Regional Road 81, like the ones for York Road, St. Paul Street, Main Street, King Street, with the Niagara Regional Road 81 shield. Guess I have to visit Niagara Region more to know more about it, eh?
Smcafirst | Chat at 19:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I just visited the region like, last week, and it surprised me it changed since the last time I visited (that's 4 years ago)

Hi, in March 2007 you added the statement: preporations[sic] for the new Canadian Victoria Cross were underway in 1987, pre-dating the Australian award. You wouldn't happen to have a reference would you? I am going for FA status and everything needs citing. I cannot find a reference for this statement. Unless a reference is found i will have to delete it. Thanks. Woodym555 17:44, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

- I've recently dealt with this; all appropriate tags have been placed, rationale provided, however, now ST47 insists non-free images cannot be used in templates while every single politics (and many other) templates on Wikipedia use non-free images. I've restored the image in question to the teplate until ST47 can explain why this image is being singled out of the hundreds of others being used in a similar fashion. You may wish to join the discussion at the template's talk page. --G2bambino 19:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:CSIS Crest.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:CSIS Crest.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
