Lady in Satin
[edit]Thanks, Sean! It is a great album. I was listening to the reissue CD tonight and found all these extras outtakes at the end with Billie cracking up and making mistakes during takes. Makes harrowing listening really. TreveXtalk 01:08, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks! My edits are generally a form of quick cleanup that, believe it or not, occacsionally earn me scolding and other angry responses. Excellent work on the articles you've created. Paul 14:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Paulette Goddard image
[edit]Hi, I really like the image you found for Paulette Goddard. It's great to see such a good quality public domain image. I have uploaded it into Commons. I wasn't sure how to do that without renaming it, so I have renamed it, and then linked into the Paulette Goddard article straight from Commons. Rossrs 14:30, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- I applaud you. I've been locating images where I can and have found several - they are here if you're interested. I put the Goddard one in because I like it so much, but I did not attempt to claim credit :-) Good luck with the Shaw, Astaire and Meredith images - the more we can find, the better. Cheers Rossrs 15:55, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Stage Door Canteen
[edit]Hi, Thanks for your comments - I'm glad you like the images. To answer your question they come from a very cheaply produced DVD. Getting the screenshots has been very difficult because even within the film there are vast differences in quality between scenes. Some are reasonably crisp and others are blurry and faded. There's several people in it that I just can't get a usable image for but not to worry. It's a start, and I think even a blurry image is better than nothing. I've got about another 6 to upload when time permits. I agree it's satisfying finding PD images - it's a bit like being a detective. Rossrs 13:27, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi SeanO, I tried to fix the image you changed, but I accidentally undid some of your subsequent edits. I'll stop messing with that page for now. ;) Happy editing. Robotman1974 21:34, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Benny
[edit]I have just been looking around the internet and some places say he was of Hungarian-Jewish ancestry, others say simply that his parents left Russia to escape pogroms. Here are more sources for the Hungarian side of things: [1] [2] and more reference for Benő Guttman [3] [4]. Also, the Serbian and Esperanto Wikipedias both say he was of Hungarian Jewish descent. Others say his parents were Russian Jews, most just say they were Jews, with no reference to nationality. K. Lásztocska 20:49, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Another thought--is it possible to find out where his parents came from exactly? The Russian Empire was enormous back then, Ukraine was under their control and I think it even stretched into the edge of Transylvania and perhaps even modern Hungary. So they could have been Hungarians, but a few miles in the right (wrong?) direction made them "Russians." Just a theory. K. Lásztocska 20:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Eh, OK. I'll keep looking around from time to time (maybe even in real books, not on the internet :)) and if I find anything else, I'll let you know and we can try and figure it out. K. Lásztocska 14:45, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
