Salty Kids saga

[edit]

Nice to know I get one right every so often. :) Also, a nice bit of "fluffery" on your part, I have to admit. Funny stuff, man! I'm extremely glad you've created an account, Josh. Welcome to the wacki wiki! For a site that requires such dry and technical editing on the main space, there are a lot of interesting characters lurking about. Anyone who enjoys writing and obviously does it well like you do is in heaven when logged on. I have a feeling you'll like it here. Thanks for owning up to the hoax. Best, Lucky 6.9 14:17, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I copied the page to /Salty in case you want it. It was rather funny and better than most hoaxes we get. Thanks for understanding why this doesn't belong in the article space, though. Friday (talk) 14:23, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

BTW, here's a standard welcome message with useful links. Important to note is the bit at the bottom about how to sign your comments. (Also, don't sign edits to articles, only talk pages).

Welcome!

Hello, Schalicto, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Friday (talk) 15:19, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted this image because it had no source tag listed, which is now cause to speedy delete an image: most of these images are copyright violations. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 16:22, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page needs less Image:Cowbell2.gif

[edit]

You have the image Image:Cowbell2.gif on your user page; this image is copyrighted and used in the Will Ferrell article under Wikipedia:Fair use. The use on your user page of that image is unlikely to be covered by use however, and as such is probably a Copyright violation. Could you remove the image from your user page? Thanks. --fvw* 23:39, 24 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ian Punnett

[edit]

You said on the Ian Punnett talk page that you were the one who emailed a link to Punnett to the Coast-to-Coast AM article in which it said he had politically liberal views. What was the date of that version of the article? I think we might want to make note of this as a citation of Wikipedia. Also, because it gives a clue into his actual political views, it is worthy to be part of the website, though it also may be construed as a self-reference which we try to avoid. If you could post the text of the email, either here or to the article, I think that might be worthy of being included. Theshibboleth 06:04, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lonelyisland.jpeg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. --cohesiontalk 07:11, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I don't know if I did something wrong when I upped the lonely island image but in the comments I clearly stated that the image is avb from the thelonelyisland.com under a creative common lisence and it is free to distribute. I don't know what I need to do to make that clear so it doesn't get deleted. -- Schalicto 18:10, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From their website it says "All materials are copyright © 2000-2005 Snuglar Entertainment. Some of the content may be redistributed, sampled, and remixed under this Creative Commons License." But it doesn't make clear which is full copyright and which can be redistributed. Regardless the creative commons license they picked does not allow for commercial redistribution, and is not compatible with the GFDL. Wikipedia is non-commercial, but the GFDL allows people to use content for commercial reasons as long as they retain the license. That's how places like about.com and the other million mirrors are legal. So, I don't know, If you actually know these people maybe you could get them to release it under gfdl, or the creative commons By-Sa-2.5 license, if they would rather stick with creative commons. They would only have to change the license on this one image, not their whole site or anything, and an email saying that was the case to you would be fine :D Hope it works out! - cohesiontalk 20:59, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Commandobear2000.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. -- Carnildo 07:48, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re : The Usuals

[edit]

It was deleted via prod, in which the reason given by its nominator was that it did not appear to pass WP:BAND. Would you like to contest its deletion? - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 03:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Jim Taylor (Film Maker)

[edit]

An editor has nominated Jim Taylor (Film Maker), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jim Taylor (Film Maker) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 02:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ornament and Crime (album)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ornament and Crime (album), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Ornament and Crime (album). Notability of The Usuals

[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Usuals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mdsummermsw (talk) 19:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Jack Ringca for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Jack Ringca, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jack Ringca until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:56, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
