License tagging for Image:Forbushdefeated.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Forbushdefeated.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Ultimate Spider-Man (story arcs). Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Schutz 16:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the images you added to Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness, they really help the reader get an idea of what they can expect, that's what I wanted since I created the page so thanks for the additions!- Dark Dragon Flame 23:22, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimate Spider-Man (story arcs)‎

Hello. People have been trying to delete/redirect Ultimate story arc pages after there has been a consensus to not do so. Maybe we should both keep an eye on the situation and contact each other as appropriate. - Peregrinefisher 10:04, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3rr warning

[edit]

Actually Exvicious is entirely right to add the 3rr warning to your page - any user can do so and they do not have to be an administrator to perform the action. Your recent actions have breached WP:3RR, if he had not reported you - I would have done so. I suggest that you try to communicate on the talkpage of the article why you feel one picture should be used over another, in addition, I would suggest that you refrain from leaving this type of message. --Larry laptop 11:54, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A warning is a message telling you of improper behavior. I merely saying if you keep up this behavior you'll be banned. (not by me.) You may be right (although you're not), but you're going about it the wrong way. Immediately reverting Larry's edit back under an IP doesn't really help your cause either.

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 01:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For future reference

[edit]

Comic pages should be updated after the issue has hit the stands, NOT after you look at your shop's preview edition. One, your edits will be unverifiable to most readers and editors, and two, it's spiteful spoilering to edit in such a way. Editing for future info like that is done to show 'I know it before you all'. That's hardly the spirit of Wikipedia. ThuranX 14:48, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AOD2MarvelZombies.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AOD2MarvelZombies.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:57, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You might find that you catch more flies with honey thanb with vinegar. Your edit summary regarding the Wonder Woman sword were a bit uncivil, and unwarranted. You might think its Wonder Woman's sword, but unless you have a reputable citation that says it is, it is only your informed opinion that it is her's. Provide a citation saying it is, and it can remain. Without it, it cannot stay. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:53, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your pov about the nonsense that goes on, but that's sorta like asking, 'since the world is nothing but shit, why bother wiping your ass?' It doesn't matter if others are rude w/out cause; it shouldn't be a guide for you.
As far as the Wonder Woman thing goes: we aren't writing WP for folks familiar to DC comics (it isn't a fan forum). Until someone citable says it's Wonder Woman's sword, and not Walt Whitman's, it doesn't get said. That's the way it works. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 19:07, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:1602Sandman.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Fair use disputed for Image:GLCRayner.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GLCRayner.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You have tagged this image for speedy deletions by virtue of it's lacking a fair use rationale. However, the image description page includes a tag to the effect that the artist is releasing it into the public domain. Public domain images are free content, and thus don't require a fair use rationale. I have removed the speedy tag, but please message me if there is something I've missed here. Also, to clarify: I understand that these are drawings of copyrighted characters, but I believe they would qualify as deriviative works, which have their own copyright. Natalie 18:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:MonarchWTF.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

A tag has been placed on Image:DoYouFearMeNow.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

The source links to another image

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:DoYouFearMeNow.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DrBat 18:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cyborg Superman

[edit]

Listen, why can't you just give the website where you found the image, instead of getting into this edit war? --DrBat 03:00, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note on this. I am not an admin and can't lock the image but I think DrBat just wants a link to the source. I see you actually gave it when you first uploaded the image and so I have added the link into the FUR which, I hope, should satisfy everyone. If not please raise this on the Comics Project and we'll try and hammer out a resolution to this. (Emperor 13:44, 18 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I knew it wouldn't be that easy. I'm not 100% comfortable with just linking to the photobucket account as a final source but add it in for now. I'd guess the image was circulated as part of the issue solicitations so will check that now. (Emperor 13:57, 18 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I've had a look around and the solicitations all carry the image as given in the DC preview [1] and [2]. The red tint seems to be something added after just before it went to print and appears not to have been widely circulated. A few possibilities: The photobucket account is from a member of the production staff, it has been circulated but only spread around a few people or the person tinted it themselves to match the version printed as a cover.
So solutions:
  • Use the widely circulated preview image as it is "unfinished" only in it lacks the tint used for the cover but is the version used for publicity so DC must have been happy with it.
  • Ask about using the photobucket account as a source on the Comics Project talk page and see what people think.
If it was me I'd go with the first option and I assume this would address the concerns raised. (Emperor 14:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]
OK cool - the important thing is that it shows a clear representation of his costume and the digital "post-production" work on the image (presumably so it "pops" as a cover) isn't really needed for our purposes and if it can't be properly sourced I'd be uncomfortable with using it. (Emperor 14:32, 18 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

You're the one making this personal, not me. I've tried being polite with you. It wasn't personal until you started saying stuff like "Your petty will does not represent the majority of Wikipedian opinion" over an image dispute, or "That guy is a true villain if he can cause misfortune int he real world." And even after that, I've refrained from insulting you like you have me.

You also accused me, saying "I suspect his true motive is that he seems to have a evndetta against every edit I make ever since the controversy surrounding the Cyborg Superman article header." Since when am I going after all your edits? This is still related to the original dispute over the Cyborg Superman article. I'm not going after any of your other edits (though I have a feeling you tried getting that Warbound image deleted over an edit I made on it, even though I wasn't even the one who had uploaded it). --DrBat 17:55, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is worth bearing in mind that we do ask people to be [{WP:CIVIL|civil]] even/especially in their edit summaries. Things like this are unhelpful, especially as (from what I can say analysing the edits) DrBat is only working to guidelines and general consensus. Obviously even then there can be friction but if you find that you are reverting or changing editors back then the best thing is to take a step back and if you can't resolve it between you then the Comics Project will always be happy to try and help work out a solution. Hope that helps fix things in the future. (Emperor 19:08, 18 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I know you're a good/respectable guy, so could you go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mister Negative to post something to help keep the article alive? Pyro

[edit]

If I understand things correctly, you are the one that added in the info speculating that Loeb screwed up the Ultimate Pyro character. While I perfectly agree the character has some weirdness now, it is explicitly forbidden, in Wikipedia rules, to post what has been posted, namely speculation that Loeb screwed up. Loeb is a real person and thus falls under special Wikipedia rules. Lots42 (talk) 12:16, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I respect your opinion on Loeb, but I just want to make one thing clear: You cannot accuse a real person of being that stupid unless you have absolute and inconvertible proof. Pyro acting weird in the Savage Land is not enough. Lots42 (talk) 18:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Something has gone weird; the article -still- stated that Loeb is too stupid to tell the difference between Ultimate Pyro and Earth 616 Pyro. I had to remove that, Wikipedia demands this type of vigilance in regards to real people. Lots42 (talk) 18:40, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In the end it is all about what we can demonstrate through reliable sources. What was added there was personal speculation and opinion and was rightly removed. If you can find a review that can be used to highlight some of the discrepancies in the character then add in a quote from that (try Comics Bulletin as they have a big archive of reviews) but without an interview or an expert's opinion, explaining why this happened. So if the problem is off widespread note then you could explain "what", "why" may not be so easy. (Emperor (talk) 20:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Oh I know the feeling - a lot of niggles can grow until you want to bang your head on the table. Still we need to give a balanced and well sourced overview. Given the recent death of his son we could suspect that he could be off his game (and prone to wax a lyrical in eulogies) but again it is an opinion.
I'm afraid that your recent edit can't stand - none of them come close to being classed as reliable sources and as you are drawing on blogs these are explicitly not allowed, even as external links.
I suppose if you feel you can't be objective and balanced on this then take the pages off your watchlist until you can. (Emperor (talk) 22:07, 2 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Non-free rationale for File:Southpaw.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Southpaw.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. And regarding your comment on the Talk page (which, at the moment, has not yet been deleted) for your future reference when editing Wikipedia, IMDB is not an allowed source. See the WP reliable source guidelines. — al-Shimoni (talk) 17:09, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
