AfD nomination of Heat and affinity

[edit]

Heat and affinity, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Heat and affinity satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heat and affinity and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Heat and affinity during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. — Coren (talk) 02:41, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:NG-cover-Feb-06.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NG-cover-Feb-06.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:18, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite block

[edit]

The evidence presented at WP:ANI is overwhelming, see this discussion as it existed at the time the block was applied. This account was apparently used to run an Internet marketing campaign within Wikipedia to promote the owner's book, website and fringe theories. - Jehochman Talk 05:25, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been indefinitely blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for long term, subtle vandalism, spamming, and conflict of interest editing. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.
As mentioned here, I have overturned this block as inappropriate and not supported by the evidence cited. This doesn't mean you should be spamming WP to promote your own book, as it appears you have been doing recently. Physchim62 (talk) 16:16, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Sadi but I have reblocked your account. There is quite clearly community consensus on ANI for the block. You are still free to edit your talk page and I would strongly recommend you post your side of the story here on your talk page and an unblock request, if you wish the block to be reviewed. Listen up

[edit]

You have been blocked, and unblocked, and reblocked, for your behavior and your contributions.

The point is, you have been a very useful contributor in some areas, but also a very unhelpful contributor in other areas. You were blocked for your work in those other areas... and you were unblocked, not just because you have done good work in articles on the history of science, but because you had not previously been told to stop.

So. You are now being told to stop. Don't do any more stuff about material that's so controversial that the Mainstream Scientific Establishment Is Afraid To Touch It And Only You Are Brave Enough To Publish Material About It. Stuff that you have published, stuff that you have discovered, stuff that you have deduced or created or otherwise made...

Don't write about it. Don't books that you've published as references. Don't spam. Or you'll be blocked.

This message may be futile, since I have no idea whether you'll return to the project after your article on "human chemistry" was deleted. If you do, I hope you choose to behave. DS 22:45, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been named in a request for arbitration titled Sadi Carnot. Please visit Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration and consider making a statement per the instructions there. Thank you. - Jehochman Talk 00:40, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Sadi Carnot. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Sadi Carnot/Evidence. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Sadi Carnot/Workshop.

Enemies list

[edit]

Keeping "enemies lists", as you have done at User:Sadi_Carnot/Users, is not in the cooperative spirit of Wikipedia. I've deleted the section on bad users though the rest of the page is OK. Please don't re-add material like that. Raymond Arritt 01:55, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This arbitration case has now closed and the decision may be found at the link above. Sadi Carnot is banned for one year, and the remaining parties are encouraged to "move forward from this unfortunate incident with a spirit of mutual understanding and forgiveness". For the arbitration committee, David Mestel(Talk) 12:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In accordance with the decision, you have been blocked for one year by KFP. David Mestel(Talk) 12:45, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lemery's corpuscular views

[edit]

Dear User,

I am currently interested in the article dedicated to Nicolas Lemery and I have seen that your are responsible for editing some parts of this article. Among others, you seem to have added the corpuscular image of acid and alkali combination. May I ask you were you have found such an image in Lemery's works? I indeed have leafed through Lemery's Appendix to a Course of Chemistry and unfortunately could not find any images. It seems that all that Lemery did is describing particles with words, but not graphically. Did you therefore design the image yourself in order to bring a complement to Lemery's discourse?

Yours sincerely, --Finkit (talk) 09:47, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Limerence

[edit]

An editor has nominated Limerence, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Limerence and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Feynman-book-cover-pic.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Feynman-book-cover-pic.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Speedy deletion of Image:Lewis-bond.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Lewis-bond.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Lewis-bond.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You are now unbanned

[edit]

Hello Sadi Carnot. Your one year ban has expired. I have removed you from WP:BANNED and restored your page. I have also left Physchim62 a note because, according to Jehochman's statement at WP:RFARB/Sadi Carnot, he'll offer to mentor you if you would return. I hope you will, by the way. As several people on the Evidence page noted, you were not merely a noxious spammer. I hope you see this message, and consider a comeback. We could use people like you. The article Cold feet (metaphor) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Dictionary definition

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

File source problem with File:Gibbs-governor.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Gibbs-governor.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Your upload of File:Bohr model.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Notice

Unused. Superseded by File:Bohr atom model English.svg.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
