As always, thanks to Mirlen for being so kind as to make the best userpage and discussion pages on Wikipedia for me. — Ryu Kaze 03:07, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on FF7!

[edit]

Hey, congrats on FA for Final Fantasy VII. Maybe you could do the honors of adding the FA star (if no one else has by now)? Wonderful job. ^_^ Axem Titanium 23:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow Ryu, another one ? You rock Mr.!!!! Renmiri 00:30, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha. I try. ;) I'd give you a barnstar but I don't know how. Anyway, as the resident FA god, would you mind giving an "apprentice" editor a few tips on making a good article? Axem Titanium 02:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good job! Now that we know what you're truly capable of, let's try to get Template:Final Fantasy series featured right away! LOL, j/k. Seriously, man, you're incredible. ~ Hibana 02:27, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tips. But what was that something I heard somewhere about you leaving after getting Final Fantasy VII to FA, or something? Axem Titanium 02:44, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. Well that's unfortunate, although you're probably in some dire need of rest after the last few weeks of craziness. Have fun and enjoy, I wish you the best. <Insert some stupid fortune cookie saying here>. Axem Titanium 02:53, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Take care and see you around. Axem Titanium 15:27, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Time for classes ?

[edit]
Good luck with classes and family. My 5 year old starts Kindergarten on Monday. They grow up so fast!!! Renmiri 02:51, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you ever consider expanding into other branches, the Anime project is pitiful!! 200 editors, hundreds of articles and only 3 FA. I couldn't resist gloating about our project [1] there! Renmiri 02:51, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, they do seem to be a bunch of stuck up folks. Downgrading the article. Sheesh! Felt good rubbing "our" FA in their face Renmiri 22:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! How un-wiki of me.. < blushes >. Meh.. My pet peeve here is those people who go out of their way to crush a n00bs spirit. Grrrr Renmiri 22:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • On other news, the gall of this guy complaining about you and the FVII FA! It sure did seem like he was withdrawing to me. And he definitely did not "Assume good faith". His objection of FFVII not being a "FAC Subject" is the height of hypocrisy. His much advertised(see below) FA page was Cheers for christ's sake! How come a game is not FA material and a TV series about a bar is ? Hehe... I'm much too short tempered for an FA review, as you can see, but this guy would irritate a Yevon monk!
BTW, I liked his FA box. You can definitely put it on your page for what.. 6 FA's already ? I'll put it for 2, X and X-2 and (sigh) the old Mythology page if one day it gets there... Renmiri 23:22, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't understand why it was suddenly archived: I, for one, was just about to change to "support". Leaving for a while? That's a pity. Come back soon. Tony 16:10, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FF VII comment

[edit]

Rlverse left me this message on my talk page, but I'm not really sure how to respond yet. Any comments you have on the situation would be helpful. Raul654 21:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Odd. I'm quite shocked that this is being handled immediately after the promotion of the article, instead of two days ago. I had to make a comment, especially since I was essensially addressed in that user's side of the debate, as well. The FA will obviously stand, it's just a matter of settling the fallout. — Deckiller 02:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, you guys are being way too nice with this guy. He flat out accused you of stuff, violating WP:CIVIL and half a dozen other policies, trying to stain your reputation at Wikipedia. I would complain about him to people takes care of this kind of slanderous jerks. Patience and politeness are good, but you don't have to take his slander in stride. He is a big boy and should respond for his bad actions. Renmiri 16:55, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, well, there's always the chance he was really sincere. I personally doubt it extensively, but I'm not going to make a big issue of it. If he says the case is closed with him, then I think we should all forget it too. Ryu Kaze 17:18, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I bow to your wisdom. You truly are an "Angel Wikipedian" with the patience of Job ;-) I'd be spitting fire by now.... Renmiri 01:57, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha. Thanks for saying so, Renmiri. There's probably a fair many people who'd disagree, but I'll take the compliment graciously nonetheless. Ryu Kaze 02:33, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Final Fantasy V

[edit]

Hey there. Final Fantasy V has been a challenge. As I stated on the main project talk page, I've researched and researched and am coming up with the same Wikipedia linkfarm and forum information. I believe I've cited it enough from the web, but one thing bothers me: I've stated that this is Hironobu Sakaguchi's last game as a director, and can only properly source this with IMDB.com (which really feels wrong) and one of your sources from the introduction of the Final Fantasy VI article, namely a Famitsu interview with him that I can't find anywhere else on the web. I wanted to use that reference for the information I included, but I'm afraid it will look too much like the FFVI article, as though I was trying copy its quality. Like I said, FFV is obscure, and little information exists. ~ Hibana 14:32, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Final Fantasy VII

[edit]

Some user wants to put the article on FAR becuase it has spoilers. Immaturity comes with the immature nature of the article; FF7 is a childish, kiddie RPG, and, well, yeah. — Deckiller 17:33, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diary of a Camper FAC

[edit]

Thanks for your feedback, Ryu. I've actually expanded (and hopefully clarified) the article a bit to show why exactly the film is notable enough to warrant its own article, in my opinion (I agree that most, if not all, of the other four films could probably be merged). Would you mind reviewing the expanded article and my comments on the FAC page to see whether that's sufficient to address your concerns? Thanks. — TKD::Talk 01:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, a little side comment: You might be more familiar with machinima than you think. Any 3D game engine that uses its own engine in real-time for cutscenes is making machinima, though some people prefer those cutscenes to be separated from the context of the game itself before they're really considered "machinima". I don't know, off the top of my head, whether any of the Square Enix games do this (they prefer FMVs, don't they?), but some notable examples of this are Anachronox, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Metal Gear Solid. — TKD::Talk 02:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your suppotr; glad I was able to address your concerns. I took a look at this image, as an example, and it does appear to be machinima (rendered in real-time). Don't forget that the game engine encompasses the graphics rendering, physics computations, etc., not just the ostensibly interactive bits. :) — TKD::Talk 09:56, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
glad that you found it interesting. Assuming that nothing substantially more than what I currently know about the other four films shows up (I haven;t read all of the reviews in a while), they'll probably end up merged into the URF article. Not that they're completely worthles, but they haven't had the same attention that Diary of a Camper has gotten. One of them, Torn Apart 2 was the first to introduce actual spoken dialogue. Incidentally, after Diary of a Camper, URF is well-known for the tortuous history over the partially-released Ranger Gone Bad 3. It was early machinima's variant of Duke Nukem Forever. There's a fairly long write-up about it here.
As for that screenshot, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 would actually be capable of rendering that in real-time. Modern gaming system are getting up there. Have you seen the Halo 3 trailer? (If you haven't, screenshots are here. Bungie says that it was done in real-time. — TKD::Talk 01:04, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heck, I remember being impressed by the pseudo-3D environments of Wolfenstein 3D and the like in the early 1990s. — TKD::Talk 06:53, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dien Bien Phu

[edit]

Just a heads up; historical entires on Wikipedia are wordeda a lot differently than video game articles. Usually, it takes different wording (which often forces some awkwardness). — Deckiller 02:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks again for making the effort to provide comments and feedback on the US housing bubble article. As summarized at the page Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Response_to_objections_raised_above, I believe that all the objections and issues raised have been addressed. Would you please have a look and consider supporting this for "featured article" status? Especially given the (unfortunate) recent news (see, e.g., today's New York Times "most-emailed" Op-Ed "Housing Gets Ugly" here), this would be an especially timely featured article, and help "Wiki" live up to its speedy name. Common practice

[edit]

Hey, just noticed that you double spaced the story section of Final Fantasy VIII. I use Internet Explorer, and double spacing appears to have no effect on the structure of the actual article (even though it shows up in the edit function). In fact, you can put as many spaces as you want between two words and it still appears as one space on the article. Do you, and other people I've seen doing this, use another browser that double spaces show up on? ~ Hibana 17:25, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, sorry, I noticed a few and thought you were adding them. I think it's a pretty pointless process (adding them that is, not removing them). If one space counts as a character, all it will do is increase the size (i.e. kilobytes) of the article. ~ Hibana 17:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They were added by a user named Sonic Shadow. If you look at his/her talk page, you'll see I mentioned it to them several months ago. Apparently, they didn't read it or don't care. ~ Hibana 17:44, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Klepacki

[edit]

Someone delisted the nom (apparently from inactivity), so I've relisted it. Can you add your support again? Thank you. --Zeality 18:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, and thanks. I'm going to be busy wtih WP:CVG/Magazines for a while. Organizing information on all those old games make me dream of a subproject for retroactively filling in stubs and creating needed CVG articles. --Zeality 21:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Things seem to be going great lately with FK and the CVG Magazine Project taking off. FF4 / Red Alert are next! I've been bitten by the selfish bug of wanting my own interests recognized on Wikipedia. --Zeality 16:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unless I've forgotten anything, this article now has everything it needs in terms of content and references for an FAC (OK, there's a couple of {{fact}} tags that need sorting out, and some of the images lack FU rationales, but that's minor). However, the article is in desperate need of copyediting. Would it be possible for you to have a look at it sometime? Any help is appreciated. -- Steel 16:50, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the prose is really sloppy, but there's no hurry. -- Steel 17:05, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thanks for saying so on the FA on the Thai king. I have another, Gilwell Park, at the bottom of the FAC list now. I'm fixing all I can right now, I'm working on a custom info box as I can't find one I like that quite fits. If you want to look it over, feel free. You do some good work yourself. Rlevse 13:08, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just dropped the custom infobox into Gilwell Park, let me know if it's better with it or without it.Rlevse 13:37, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your support. That's 7-1 and I've fixed of the concerns of 1. So hopefully it'll work out. Let me know when you have another FAC and I'll help where I can on it. Rlevse 01:14, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CVG Guide

[edit]

I can't find it at the moment, but I recall you left a neato guide on someone's talk page. Would that have a place somewhere in WP:CVG? Or is it generally left on user pages and such? If so, perhaps you can make something like User:Ryu_Kaze/CVG_Advice and we can link to it. The advice seems pretty helpful to new editors, and I'm hoping to tap into it while preparing FF4 for FAC. --Zeality 00:35, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely! It'll be a good tool. It's like completing the tutorial for CVG articles by elaborating on the finer points of the FAC process that are only learned through first-hand experience. I've just completed an expendable WIP at User:Zeality/GuideWIP with a couple new notes just for reference. --Zeality 02:09, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help requested on Unreal Tournament 2007

[edit]

Hey there, User:SandyGeorgia referred me to you for some assistance with the Unreal Tournament 2007 article, as her forte is not games. She states that it's in rough shape and I was hoping for some assistance with cleanup. The game has not released, and details aren't in great supply. Citations are hard to come by, since Epic and Midway have been giving little teasers and tidbits to a variety of news sources. This has made compiling all the information on this upcoming release difficult, to put it mildly.

I know the largest compilations of info on UTx are at BeyondUnreal and PlanetUnreal, but there are interviews and articles all over the map, and not everyone is on the same page for the state of development.

Think you can assist in getting this article up to par?

Thanks,

Final Fantasy IV is up for FAC

[edit]

In case you didn't know. I think it may be the first FF FA we're doing without you. I wonder if you could come and check it out? Sir Crazyswordsman 22:22, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious; what should we do about that Geocities thing? I'm inclined to argue more that games spawn fansites, and fansites are likely to have detailed information like this, but he seems pretty set on interpreting the self-published rule conservatively. What if we just dropped that reference? Can it pass with a "citation needed"? As for the print reviews objection, I guess we'll have to go digging for someone who has an old copy of EGM. If EGM even existed in 1991... --Zeality 20:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's #70, or this. It's the only thing that I could find after some serious searching on Google that pointed this fact out. I guess the fact that the easytype is even easier than the US version could speak for itself, and the reference could go. Nonetheless, it seems wasteful to just discard it like that. Frank Klepacki's commentary was self-published, yet passed FA due to its integral importance. Oh uh...by the way. I might try to make a Zeal themed user page. Every time I come here, it's like "ah! what a sanctuary!" --Zeality 02:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit Episode IV

[edit]

Hey dude, I was wondering if you would copyedit Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. I loved the way you copyedited The Phantom Menace and I was hoping you'd do the same for this article. If you have any suggestions for the article to get up to FA status, just leave them in my talk page or the talk page for the article. :) The Filmaker 04:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You know what, you might want to hold off on your copyedit. I asked Huntred to copyedit, and he's agreed only he's going to use sometype of program where he's going to do the whole copyedit in one giant edit. So anything changed from now, till he's done (within the next couple days), will just be overwritten. I'll let you know when he's done. :) The Filmaker 13:41, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh god no, absolutely no offense taken :) Ryu and myself are like one person anyway ^_^. He's not really into star wars, that's why I pointed that out. — Deckiller 02:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute on Tifa Lockhart's talk page

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you could comment on an ongoing dispute on the Tifa Lockhart talk page. The dispute is on whether or not a certain reverted edit comprises OR, and on what information should be included under the "Love" section in the article. Narutokun37 suggested we bring you into the discussion to provide NPOV. Thanks! -ryand 14:42, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you tightened the prose a little, it'd be a featured article. But as it stands, I've made three appeals to WP:CVG for help and even some personal requests, and I haven't gotten even a look in this direction besides votes on the FAC and work with Hanchen / the Magazine Project. I could make this work but I feel I should let it fail and announce why on the WP:CVG talk page. It disgusts me that no one wants to help an easy FAC pass by taking a look at text; I know you would if you were active right now. So I'm just leaving this as a note here since I don't know when I will be back. If you want an easy FA nomination to your credit, MNSG is ripe. --Zeality 00:45, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ryu! I saw whatyou did to Megatokyo, and I thought maybe you would like to have a look to the Lain article. I've done some work on it to push it through GA, then FA, and now the only thing holding it from passing the Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Serial Experiments Lain seems to be the poor text quality. I'm not sure if you're around at the moment, but if not, well, welcome back!--SidiLemine 15:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I do hope things are going well with you, and happy editting. I thought it best if I said hello while on my way through the "neighborhood". Best wishes. -Randall Brackett 20:31, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:YunaTidusreunited.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:YunaTidusreunited.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I have tagged Image:FFXcrashingwedding.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Heya

[edit]

What's up? You remember me, right? I need your assistance with something. It isn't related to any of the projects that you work on, but you will be able to help me regardless. I know that you've added plenty of references during your time here, and I need help with this. I have tried on multiple occasions to add some references to Characters in Chobits, only to have the code crap out of me each time. Even though I follow the instructions to the letter, it just won't work. Everything keeps getting mixed up. This article is close to being good article material, so I really want to get this done. If you could possibly show me what I am doing wrong, I will be eternally grateful.PiccoloNamek 12:28, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Yuna3.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Yuna3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:24, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:X-2Rikkusmall.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:X-2Rikkusmall.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Thanks for uploading Image:FFVIIfieldmapexample.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 02:28, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Replaceable non-free use File:Ffxmap.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ffxmap.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 22:21, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
