Userpage

[edit]

Welcome/bienvenue. I noticed that you created the page Utilisateur:Philh-591. Unfortunately, the French word "Utilisateur" is not a valid namespace on English Wikipedia... "User" is the equivalent here. You may wish to copy any content you want to keep from Utilisateur:Philh-591 and paste it into User:Philh-591, your userpage. It's likely that the former page will be deleted. Thanks/merci. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:38, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Utilisateur:Philh-591, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Utilisateur:Philh-591 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Utilisateur:Philh-591 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:39, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My oops!

[edit]

I forgot to take account of the different terms for User: when setting up convenient links between my English and French user pages. User:Philh-591

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hello, Philh-591

Thank you for creating Sir Alan Hilary Moore, 2nd Baronet.

Good start. Of course it needs more references. Happy editing!

@North8000: Thank you for the note. It's actually the book that is more significant and notable. It's an interesting historical view of the state of sail. I'd added the book as further reading at Sailing ship and Sail plan and as references at Davit and Preussen (ship) so readers can be aware of it. The book may warrant its own page, particularly in a few years when it drops out of copyright and its illustrations can be quoted more freely. Conveniently, the illustrator is on the same copyright schedule.

The book may be the only significant thing the 2nd. Baronet ever did, but as his page was a missing link between the 1st. and 3rd. Baronets (his father and son, both of whom seem to be more notable) it only seemed reasonable to put in at least a skimpy page to tie them all together and to the book. The baronetcy pages have next and previous sequencing links, so omitting the 2nd. Baronet makes for a red-linked gap.

Hmmm. I see I need to fix previous sequencing link on the 3rd. Baronet's page. I'd only fixed the 1st. Baronet's forward link. And I need to add the baronetcy sequencing to the 2nd. Baronet's page.

Cool. Thanks for the detailed explanation. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 18:04, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Additions to dab pages

[edit]

Hallo, Thanks for adding Henry Wood (scholar) to the Henry Wood (disambiguation) page, but please note:

  • "a" or "an" aren't used when listing people in dab pages
  • we don't say "wa/is ..." in the entries (except for the primary topic at the top), we just add name, dates in brackets, comma, description
  • we don't end each entry with a full stop

If in doubt, please follow the pattern of the existing entries. I've tweaked your scholar to fit the pattern (as laid down in MOS:DAB).

I also trimmed the note about the Primary Topic HW,at the top: readers won't be likely to land on the dab page wanting content about him, as the most likely route to the dab page is from the primary topic, his own article, so brevity seems a virtue here. PamD 14:14, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
