A little request!

[edit]

Hi there!

I have upload new pic of Priscila Perales. Please help me add this pic into her main article.

Thank you so much!

Good work

[edit]

Good work undoing the crud you're fixing at the moment! You may be interested in this. It remains to be seen whether the editor will heed this though. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 09:41, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should give a second change for him because I think his contributions are "good-faith"! But I will add the final warning if he is still change country name again. Thank you! Angelo De La Paz (talk) 10:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I wasn't warning him as in "stop or you'll be blocked"... who knows, he might not even know what he's doing isn't how we do things. Just a gentle and friendly reminder :) PageantUpdater talkcontribs 10:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merging tag

[edit]

Hi Pageant Updater. I have traced that you were the one who suggested the merging of Carousel Productions Inc. article to Miss Earth. I have indicated my thoughts in the article’s discussion page [1]. I made several revisions of the article, please do check if there’s anything you can add to improve the article’s editorial, since I’m a greenhorn with Wikipedia editing. Although I’m not the original creator of the article, I recommend to retain the article for the reasons I have stated in the article’s discussion page. I have looked at your editing and you should be nominated as an administrator. Thank you.--Johnsoul (talk) 16:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the quick action. I thought of nominating you with your permission, because I've never seen an administrator for pageantry, and I guess you have learned your lesson in the past (hotheadedness), plus you’re the most qualified among the pageant editors based on your edit history. Anyway, I will be asking your thoughts about this matter some other time when you’re ready. Have a great weekend!--Johnsoul (talk) 21:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for granting my request by uploading Miss Earth-related pictures. I'm planning to contact Carousel Productions to obtain permission to use the Miss Earth logo, including their annual logos and other related pictures in their website and I will need definitely your expertise with this matter once I get the approval or do you want me to give you the contact info of the person to get in touch with?--Richie Campbell (talk) 03:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]
  • I represent the Official University of Florida Wikiproject, and I was wondering if you could help us out? As you probably know UF has produced a large number of Pageant winners for the State of Florida and beyond. I was hoping that you may have access to pictures of these pagent winners, and if so was hoping that you would upload to them into their proper pages?

Thanks for your support

[edit]
  • We at the University of Florida are very proud of our Pageant winners. If you know of any others that we are missing, then please let me know, and I will create their page with much haste. Once again, Thanks for your support! Jccort (talk) 23:15, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS

[edit]

I processed most of your OTRS emails today, so you will see a bunch of replies in your inbox. Please be sure to read each one carefully; for some of them, I needed a little more information, so please take care of those. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 17:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MUO/Miss Universe templates

[edit]

Can you please weigh in at Template:Miss_Universe]]? Kanabekobaton (talk · contribs) is edit warring the template and Miss USA and refuses to discuss the issue. I, quite frankly, think his edits are ridiculous but I've exhausted my 3 reverts on the template. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 23:42, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi girl, as I can see that he has removed Template:Miss_Universe out of the main articles of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. There is no big problem now. I am with you because I think so that is very superfluous (Template:Miss_Universe in Miss USA or Miss Teen USA).

I will addthese articles into my watchlist soon!

Bye! See ya! Angelo De La Paz (talk) 08:02, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add Miss Universe 2008 into your watchlist as soon as possible.

[edit]

Now, I have got some problems with a Puerto Rican nationalist about some names of Hispanic contestants. You can see it in my talk page and in the History section of Miss Universe 2008 article.

Please weigh it. Thank you so much, good luck!

Naming conventions

[edit]

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it, I guess what you did is the responsible thing to do. I have had problems with User: Angelo de la Paz, because he had accused me twice of vandalism after providing citations and sources to the edits that I've made, and his messages seems to be rude; I was checking his user talk and I guess most of the entries are about discomfort against his actions or edits, he apparently don't learn. Again, thanks for the explanation :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.237.223.253 (talk) 21:04, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change of results for Miss Universe pages.

It was not difficult to read, but the form I created was much clear to read, it is in a list format, rather than a paragraph.

Please delete this article

Hi!

Please delete Miss Tourism Queen International 2008 as soon as possible because this article is really un-needed and it sounds as a Chinese Communist colonization of Major International beauty pageants (Miss World, Miss International, etc)

A new problem.

[edit]

Hi there!

We've have a new problem here from one person whose IP addresses come from Puerto Rico Telephone Company (its another IP addresses 64.237.213.173, 64.237.223.253, 72.50.5.73, 72.50.12.67 and etc) who is totally a patriot and a Caribbean nationalist (always edit full names of mostly Hispanic contestants before and now, that is country names).

I think you could help because your English skill was better than mine so far. And let him/her know more about Wikipedia rules and laws, remind him/her this is not VoyForums or any silly message boards.

Thank you so much. Good luck!

Angelo De La Paz (talk) 08:04, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look at the page but we cannot use the picture because it is copyrighted. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 08:17, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I applaud your effort to get more free images, but can you please make sure that before you take a high resolution, 2.35 MB, nicely colored photograph at the Tribeca Film Festival and replace it with a low-resolution, off-color, 99KB headshot, please think twice. The goal on here is to get the best quality photo on the article. Hence, my Kevin Bacon is not in the lead. My Sean Combs is not in the lead. If you like an image you have obtained, perhaps it works better somewhere else in the article if the lead is good quality (and most certainly if it is better than the one you have on offer). If you come across a better Susie Castillo, feel free to replace mine, or move mine down. But the best photo we have should be in the lead. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Thanks. Dave --David Shankbone 14:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are about to go over the 3RR limit on this article, which is an automatic block. --David Shankbone 14:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to have to report you for 3RR. --David Shankbone 14:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know the 3RR and I have not broken it. I have reverted three times, not four. Perhaps I should warn you about the rule too? PageantUpdater talkcontribs 14:43, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FYI --David Shankbone 14:44, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked.

[edit]

For edit warring on the Susie Castillo article over images. Please use discussion in future disagreements (but let's hope you won't have any!). ScarianCall me Pat! 14:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

CJinoz (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

This is ludicrous and clearly the blocking admin has not checked the diffs. The first diff is not a revert but a constructive edit. Only the three "reverts" after that can be classed as such. I have reverted three times, David Shankbone has reverted three times. Why should I be blocked?

Decline reason:

Clear edit warring. WP:3RR does not guarantee you three reverts in a day. As to whether or not David Shankbone should be blocked, that has no bearing on this block. — Yamla (talk) 15:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

{{unblock|Per my further reasoning below. I took a number of possible steps to seek third opinions. If it was edit warring, which I take issue with, I should at most have been given a warning before being blocked}} Dammit can't get the template to work. I wanted to add:

OK I see its not for 3RR. But if you think I was edit warring, why would I go out of my way to seek a third opinion on the issue. If I am going to be blocked, so should David Shankbone. This was a pretty premature action, and I think a warning would have been more appropriate. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:05, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the question is: why are you edit warring over a poor quality image? You are uploading a bunch of Craig Hurst photos, and that's great when we don't have any, but they are very low quality. You can barely see Danielle Lacourse. The only argument you have to stand on for Courtney Barnas is that the other photo was essentially a thumbnail; otherwise, to replace the photo with the Craig Hurst photo would have been travesty. The photos you are obtaining are really low quality. Again - I applaud your efforts, as I did when I first came on this talk page, but it's a little astounding you are edit-warring over such low quality. --David Shankbone 15:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The answer to that is simple... a guy I know through pageant circles has very kindly offered to release his images to us. I'm uploading the highest resolution available. Its either take it or leave it, apart from the Susie Castillo image in pretty much all the other cases, these were the first free images available. And I have already explained why I believe the Susie Castillo image should stay in the infobox and I stand by that opinion. If either Howcheng or the other guy or anyone else give an opinion I'll agree to that decision, but I think you were the one who was overly jumpy from the beginning. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, good for Craig Hurst. Some of us buy expensive equipment and spend hours going to festivals and other events to obtain the images we obtain for this site. In the case of Courtney Barnas, it wasn't the first free image. But more to the point: you are edit-warring over low quality. In the case of Barnas, I think you only have a marginally better argument. Regardless, I have other photos of Castillo that are full on face shots that, once I'm home, I'll upload. But the edit-warring over such low quality, when I approached you on your talk page, explained my reasoning in the edit-summary, and then discussed it on the Castillo Talk page, is poor form. --David Shankbone 15:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I didn't realise at all that the quality of the image was such a big deal, as I have explaned a million times it feels like, I was focussing mainly on the proportions and the angle and thought that the head-on photo was more suitable. I still do think its more suitable. I honestly didn't expect there to be any problems with this. If you have more images, great, add them to the commons. Btw I'm not a newbie at adding images by any means, if you check out my upload log on the Commons you'll see that I have uploaded hundreds of free images. Not that that really means a thing but I don't want you to think that I'm totally clueless when it comes to the use of images. I got into trouble about eighteen months ago over the use of non-free media and since all that has cleared up I have devoted a lot of time to getting as many useful images as I can and have almost singlehandedly doubled the amount of images of USA pageant titleholders on the Commons. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:25, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I should also wish to add that I thought it prudent to keep both images up whilst the issue was up for discussion at the talk page, Howcheng's talk page (both initiated by me) and User talk:Durova? Why would I also have asked David Shankbone if he could point me towards relevant policies/guidelines on the issue? I really think this was unwarranted and baseless. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You initially removed my image. And both images *were* displayed in my versions. --David Shankbone 15:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This was edit warring, but I concur that you and Shankbone are equally guilty. Since Scarian is the one who blocked you but only warned him, I'm asked him about it. Bear with us. Mangojuicetalk 15:11, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
'In regards to David Shankbone's claim that he was not being intentionally misleading over the 3RR - see the subject above when he purports to "warn" me over this and I let him know that there had been three reverts not four. Surely that should have alerted him to the potential issue? PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Let me try to get discussion moving in a more productive way. I see arguments on either side for which image is preferable. David has been saying that his image is higher quality -- I agree, it's higher resolution, more in focus. However, I can also see why we might prefer to have just a head shot as the image in the infobox; it has better detail on her face and she is looking straight at the camera. There is no guideline or policy, as far as I know, that would make one version acceptable while the other is not -- this is up to you guys to try to resolve by building consensus, bringing in outside parties if needed. Mangojuicetalk 15:31, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In the meantime, PU: you haven't specifically said, but will you agree to stop reverting and engage in productive discussion over this image? Mangojuicetalk 15:31, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of course I'll agree to stop reverting. And as I have said, I have already taken steps to engage in discussion over it by asking Howcheng for an opinion and bringing it up on the talk page (and I did this early on - David's message to Durova was basically parroting me). And as I have said, If other editors beleive it should be one way or the other, I am more than willing to agree to that. I just feel its something that should not be decided either way by either of us, because we both have our own views about which way it should be. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay then. I've unblocked; problem solved as far as I'm concerned. Mangojuicetalk 15:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please unblock my ip too? Thanks. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 15:53, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've posted at WP:3O about the dispute; let's move all remaining conversation on the issue to Talk:Susie Castillo. Mangojuicetalk 15:41, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hola from Mexico

[edit]

Hum... Hi!

Well, English is not my native lenguage, but I trying to understand you, and that you understand me.

My name is Alex, from Mexico. I want to ask you, what is your criteria for deleted something, or not, in the Miss Universe 2008 Article?

Sometimes you look very radical about what yes and what no. Other times, you'll be very selective... why, if not have a source, Misses Georgia, Israel, for example, are on the list, and others no? I don't understand why certains sites could't be a reference? why the activities of the pageant are not worthies to be in this article (alleging Wikipedia is not a fansite)? I can't understand... sorry...

I can remember, the last year, you insisted put on the article the marriage of Mario Lopez with Ali Landry. We discussed about that, and finally, this trivial data was deleted. But it is still a contradiction about your attitude.

My intention is not fight with you, only understand what happened. Maybe i'm not cleary about wikipedia rules, or maybe i'm traslating the rules to my convenience and the things i'm think are fine... or maybe you do it. I don't know.

Saludos de Mexico...

--Alex Duilius (talk) 07:59, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Alex Duilius[reply]

Hi Alex... the short answer is, time! :) I actually did a major edit a couple of nights ago, removing delegates that I couldn't find references for (e.g. Georgia) and referencing those I found decent refs for (e.g. Israel). Problem being that my internet connection was dropped and I lost over two hours work :P Since then I've been "stemming the tide" by trying to maintain the article at its present standard (or better)... I'll go back and make the other fixes when I have time. Obviously, anyone else is welcome (and encouraged) to join in this process, as long as the references are reliable sources. Notability of Melissa Smith

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Melissa Smith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Edison (talk) 04:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Universe 2008

[edit]

It seems that you clamed ownership of the Miss Universe 2008 article. You frequently had eliminated information that is true, I'm making a list of your edits and if every information you had deleted turned out to be true information, I am going to set things straight. You probably don't know how to find or use a proper translator to check this article of the OFFICIAL MISS RUSSIA website (http://miss-russia.ru/news/item/63) where it clearly says that VERA KRASOVA will attend Miss Universe 2008 instead of the winner. Use Yahoo Babelfish to check the information, so you can realize that you had removed true information for a reliable source multiple times. A person that calls himself an expert and can't find information sources, definitely lies to himself. Don't bother to create a talkpage with this IP, lots of people use it. {{unblock|See below (I can't get it to work)}} PageantUpdater talkcontribs 22:55, 1 June 2008 (UTC) Yet again I get unfairly blocked in a 3RR dispute. Not only have I not been warned (academic, perhaps considering I am fully aware of the policy), I have not violated 3RR (and I am not the only person reverting Kaiwhakahaere [7]). Furthermore, my edits have been 100% in line with policy, whilst Kaiwhakahaere has been completely ignoring my efforts to make him aware of that policy. As well, I have been actively attempting to get neutral opinions on this subject, with one other editor suggesting my application of policy was correct: [8], [9], [[10]. This is unjustified and unfair. To say nothing of the fact that the last time I was blocked for 3RR others admitted that the result at that time was unfair. I've had problems with my temper in the past (this time last year, from memory) but these days I have been doing all I possibly can to actively seek neutral opinions and deal with things fairly, and what happens? I get blocked. This is ridiculous. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 23:03, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And I should add (although it isn't directly relevant to any 3RR discussion), that this should be considered in light of Kaiwhakahaere's personal attacks and incivility against me [11], [12], [13], [14]

Hello,

I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?

  1. I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
  2. I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.

The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.

Sincerely

Hello, thanks a lot for your help on filling out the questions on the pretest and questionnaire. In order for us to interpret the answers you gave, I have three additional questions to ask you. In the questionnaire, you check ‘free’ for the compensation of answering the question. Now there are some scenarios:

  1. If the users need to pay for asking questions through our knowledge service, will you still answer the questions for free?
  2. If the users pay a certain fee for each of his/her questions being answered, will you receive the compensation for answering the question or allow us to donate it to the charitable institutions?
  3. Do you have any comments on the knowledge service which we plan to develop? In this knowledge service, we will allow users to ask their questions, and the system will forward these questions to the users who edited wikipedia and were identified by our system as the domain experts. Which business model do you think is more proper? The expert can be compensated by the fee paid by the seekers or do it for altruism with no charge.

Inappropriate edit summary

[edit]

I did not appreciate the tone you used in your edit summary on the Candice Sanders page. When I came upon the page, I saw that her birth date was not in the appropriate spot in the opening sentence. Instead, it was buried down in the references section. I moved it and in the process, saw that it was in the info box, but not showing up. I tried fixing it, but it didn't work, so I just removed it from there. At least it alerted you to it so that you could fix it. So saying things like "wtf" and using that tone is completely inappropriate and violates the spirit of Wikipedia in keeping things civil. - Maximusveritas (talk) 05:21, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I have been adding content to the Miss Universe 2008 page. Even though the Resutls TBD sections I've been adding may seem to be at first too much, however I was attempting to save myself time to add the information into the formats during the pageant, which is tomorrow anyway. Because there has been unfounded protest against it, I am not going to protest it any longer. I will just spend the three hours during the pageant it took me to type all of Wiki markups.

However, what makes me angry is that not only the TBDs are removed, but the cited sources of information which I spent quite some time researching on the Miss Universe official Web site were also removed (the judges information, the hosts and performers, etc.). So I since put the information back in again, and I appreciate that they have yet to be removed again.

However, I am not hear to complain, because I do appreciate your comments in the user history. So when the information that can be cited was removed, I responded with proof in kind when I replaced them back (i.e. Telemundo was being removed when in actuality it can be verified that they are also broadcasting and distributing the pageant). I work in the US broadcast industry, so I definitely know the ins and outs of shows being broadcast and aired.

However, I think we have a common foe on the Miss Universe 2008 page. As I read further up on your User talk page, User:Kanabekobaton has been a thorn on yours and many others' sides. He has deleted all of my information several times out of nuisance and has gone on my User talk page and has vandalized it. I have sent three warnings to him, and in kind he does his crap again and sent me one in spite.

I've also just noticed that he removed content that I placed on the Miss USA special awards four months ago that was ALL accurate information I found on several sources. So he definitely doing stuff maliciously.

So, instead of me being your enemy, I'd rather be your ally in making sure he doesn't keep trying to get away with it. I am just trying to put correct information and upcoming information on the page when it will actually occur. I thank you once again you explaining your decisions to remove information. However, I don't think Kanabekobaton is as civil as you are when he makes revisions and uses the minor edit feature to falsely justify his removals.

So, what do you think? I welcome your thoughts. Noahknows (talk) 02:12, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Universe

[edit]

I have removed an unsourced info that you have added to Miss Universe article as follows: “Miss Universe is the most known major international beauty pageant and the most expensive beauty pageant in the world.” The threshold for inclusion of any information in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiable" in this context means that readers should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source By the way, I have noticed that most of your edits are very informative and helpful to readers and likewise to editors. Actually I have read most of it before writing this message.--Ped Admi (talk) 02:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miss America 2003

[edit]

I noticed that the Awards section you added to Miss America 2003 actually refers to Miss America 2002 (the sole difference being that someone came along and changed the name of Oregon's preliminary talent winner from Katie Harman to Brita Stream).

I would make the changes myself, but I see that the preliminary winners are not listed in alphabetical order (which is how I would have listed them); I'm guessing that they're listed chronologically, and, although I was there, I no longer remember who won what on which night.

Thanks for all your work on pageant-related articles. ForDorothy (talk) 13:25, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Errors in the placements of Miss Universe 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2002 listed on Wikipedia

[edit]

All of Miss Universe 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2002 placements can be found on the official Miss Universe link http://www.missuniverse.com/press/index.html and they all have different placements than the ones listed on Wikipedia respective articles for each year. In some of them there isn't any source cited for the rankings, on others is cited only unofficial sources known for their errors http://www.pageantopolis.com/international/universe_2006.htm and http://www.pageant-almanac.com/miss-universe/semi-finalists.php

The general official site is given, but not the direct link http://www.missuniverse.com/press/index.html with all the information about the ranking in the above years.

The source http://www.pageant-almanac.com/miss-universe/semi-finalists.php is unreliable because they have listed the rankings for the rest of the top 15 in Miss Universe 2005, but the official site http://www.missuniverse.com/press/05.30.05.html doesn't have them even listed(they have only 10 listed).

Wikipedia's verifiability policy states that the standard is verifiability, meaning, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, and this reliable source is http://www.missuniverse.com/press/05.30.05.html, not the websites of pageantpolis and pageantalmanac.

Questions about placements in Miss Universe

[edit]

Hello PageantUpdater, I posted this message already on the "Miss Universe 2006" article discussion forum, but I am posting it here again just in case you're not alerted about my answer there. (I am new and not sure if I am doing everything right). I always enjoy reading your talk page because you always try to be as neutral as possible and to provide the most reliable sources.

In regards to what you said in your answer "Making the assumption that they are in placement order is thus effectively original research" I agree with.

But isn't it original research also if you make the opposite assumption that they are not in placement order? At least if the contestants were listed in Wikipedia in the same order as on the official site http://www.missuniverse.com/press/index.html, there wouldn't be any confusion because if people wanted to know more they could contact the original source (Miss Universe Organization, http://www.missuniverse.com/press/index.html).

Please, take a look at the Reference part of "Miss Universe 2006" article for example. You will see that one of the editors has made all kinds of assumptions, he/she even listed "evidence" on the "Miss Universe 2006" article discussion forum which I think represents original research and as you pointed out not acceptable, right? Is it an acceptable source if a contestant from any of the MU years has mentioned her placement in an interview with a news organization in a video or article?
