Banu Nadir

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and seems like you are quite passionate. We are actually having severe problem with the Banu Nadir article. This article had been pushing Jewish POV, we discussed a lot of things on its talk page but the other party simply couldn't agree. So we decided to make our own version, Banu Nadir/mpov, "mpov" stands for "multiple point of view", with the understanding that mpov will ultimately achieve NPOV. Somehow, a few days ago, the protection over the article was released from editing, and we uploaded our "mpov" version and then article was protected again. Our Jewish friends are a bit angry about that. Now it is our version on Banu Nadir, although we are still making improvements on Banu Nadir/mpov. Other articles which are suffering from the same problem are Muhammad as warrior and some others. I have also put my point of view at various points in talk:Banu Nadir and talk:Banu Nadir/mpov, which includes my proposal of adding a new article in wikipedia that would deal with the theories or concepts which Islamic scholars have in defence of early prosecutions of Muslims, and then a link to this article can be given on every subsequent article. I am a firm believer that these prosecutions are part of Islamic history but have specific meanings, which we need to put over the internet for a novice reader, otherwise it is causing voilence/anger in some Muslims and propaganda from some Non-Muslims, which we see all around us. Jaza-ka-Allah! --SaadSaleem 14:04, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must say that you are quick and doing well. I appreciate your concern and I am also worried that because our Jewish friends are not part of mediation or they don't want to participate, maybe what we are doing might end up in their favour because their claim is that they cited books from someone who has a very well known reputation for Judeo-Islamic history, Norman Stillman. Many of our claims, like Upon discovering these events, Muhammad married Safiyya bint Huyayy to encourage other people to behave more humanely with women and children who were victims of armed conflict and defiance of Constitution of Medina by Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf is still unsourced. And then explanations for giving Banu Qaynuqa the choice between Islam and death, and then for saying Muhammad needed a victory to regain his prestige is still not given on behalf of Islamic scholars. I do agree that every article on Wikipedia is in process of improvement but our Jewish friends will not agree unless we fill out these or even some more gaps in the article. Thanks again for your effort. --SaadSaleem 13:51, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should also have a look at Banu Qaynuqa. It is amazing that as soon as protection is lifted, they have put their own old version again. --SaadSaleem 14:52, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
good on you, mate! --SaadSaleem 07:51, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal

[edit]

I was thinking that if there is an article about Muhammad as a warrior, why can't we write more articles on Prophet Muhammad such as Muhammad as a teacher, Muhammad as a father and husband, and Muhammad as social reformer. The main problem with Islam is that we have so much information (especially hadith), which can be right, wrong, or incomplete, that people don't miss even a single chance to defame Islam. So I think, to balance it out, we need to put other stuff also which would show the other side of the picture as well. Would like to have your comments. --SaadSaleem 06:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i think these are very imaginative ideas. "Muhammad as a diplomat" would be a great one to start off with. citable events include : constitution of medinah, treaty of hudaybiyyah, 'aqabah pledges, oath at the tree, letters and envoys sent to the various world leaders of persia, byzantine (envoy to heraculus), abyssinia (negotiating with the negus of abyssinia in assigning a temporary place of refuge for muslims), making peace between the rivalling tribes of aws and khazraj (some specific incidences are notable), journey to meet the leaders of ta'if... there are a large number of citable incidents. we should concentrate on compiling a number of useful published books and secondary sources (compliant with RS) in order to pool all the available information and not run into OR problems later on. one excellent and extremely relevant publication is "the sealed nectar" by mubarakpuri... i guess if we could get our hands on other contemporary seerah works like that of dr. lings et al or if necessary early works like that ibn hisham (eng trns) and bidaayah wa an-nihaayah of ibn katheer. we should really concentrate on obtaining these kind of works which will be useful not only for this article but all kinds of islam-related articles that need improvement. "Muhammad as a religious teacher" could work too and there are loads of citable incidences. thank you. --ITAQALLAH 14:34, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic Barnstar Award

[edit]

Please offer your opinion, vote, or whatever about your choice for the image to be used with the Islamic Barnstar Award at the Barnstar proposals page. Although there is consensus for the concept of an Islamic Barnstar Award, some editors would like to change the image for the award. I was just thinking you should be aware of this discussion because you have contributed to Islamic-related articles, received the Islamic Barnstar Award, or have contributed to the Islam-related Wikiprojects, etc.--JuanMuslim 1m 16:17, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please have a look at this as well. I am trying to convert Women in Muslim societies to Women in Islam, so that we can have a better NPOV version of this article. For more details please look at the talk page of former article. Thanks. Cheers! TruthSpreaderTalk 10:38, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Innocence of Muslims film trailer

[edit]

Hi, I'm writing because you are listed in Category:Translators ar-en. It was recently pointed out at Talk:Innocence of Muslims#ARABIC Wikipedia version that the English Wikipedia article on the deliberately inflammatory film trailer Innocence of Muslims contains very much more detailed information about the deliberate deceit on the part of the filmmakers to try to obscure their identity and the nature of the trailers which has not yet been added to the Arabic version at ar:براءة_المسلمين which is getting about 8,000 page views per day presently. Would you please consider adding some of the details which might help Arabic readers understand some of the missing details of the trailers? Thank you for your consideration. —Cupco 22:12, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
