User talk:Not So Stephanian
July 2020
[edit] Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 17:51, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 17:53, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. Salvio 17:54, 25 July 2020 (UTC)- Salvio, they have actually spammed links to their site. This should be a spamublock. ◊PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•A•C) This message was left at 17:56, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Prahlad balaji: not necessarily. Administrators are empowered to use discretion to determine whether a soft block or a hard one is more appropriate. In this case, in my evaluation, a soft block was enough, in the light of the limited nature of this user's spamming, especially considering that the template points out that promotional editing is not acceptable.
