Dave McKenna (stunt rider) - suspected WP:BIAS

[edit]

I note your revert of my edit of Dave McKenna (stunt rider), but also having noted your edit pattern strongly suspect that you have WP:BIAS with regards this subject. Please advise of your relationship to the subject? Much as though I accept that the subject passes WP:NOTAB, Wikipedia is NOT an advertising platform but an encyclopaedia. All I did was cut back the poorly created piece of advertising (ie: Official Sponsors and Represented Brands - both clear breaches of WP:ADVERT) to what was actually referenced. Dear Trident13: My only bias on this subject is that I have worked quite hard to write the article after taking an interest in the subject. It was rather arduous to get it approved (being my first published wiki). Please trust that I acknowledge and appreciate your contribution, my reverting of your edits was only because I thought them to be too severe. I am well prepared to rewrite the article as per your notes. Until then I would prefer the piece to remain the previous version whilst I reconstruct the article. I am in no way ignoring your comments and suggestions and will be more than happy to have you review and provide feedback on an amended version. This article was/is not intended to be an advertising piece and will remove what's been deem offending material in the course of the next week, however written in my way.. I hope you can understand where I am coming from. Thank you -- Niccikwoo (talk) 10:34, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message! The problem with the old version is that (1) opens "Professional athlete", (2) includes list of Sponsors, and (3) Represented brands. It there breaks WP:ADVERT, and doesn't comply with WP:MOS. If you confirm that you are not related to or paid for by the subject to create or manage the article, then I am more than happy - as a fellow biker myself - to help you construct a far better version. But accusing me of making mistakes when all I did was cut back to what was ref'd??? Look forward to your hopefully positive reply. Rgds, --Trident13 (talk) 10:52, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Trident13 - I understand your concerns. I will leave the article as you have undone it, until I can come up with a revision. I am definitely not related / being paid by the subject to create and manage the article. It is of my own topic of interest and my own painstaking writeup, though having met and spoken to the subject to get more info I guess the error I was referring to was the mention of him being born in Ballarat, vs growing up there. However I've noticed this is actually incorrectly stated by a news article referenced, as I was sure I had not written this particular detail. I have spent quite a bit of time getting information as well as reaching out to the rider as well who was kind enough to indulge my questions. Having had my eyes opened on street bike stunting in Aus I've become a pretty big fan of the sport. I am happy you have not taken my actions and response personally and would actually appreciate assistance constructing a better version. Niccikwoo (talk) 11:21, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Start up a stubpage, or take a copy down into your sandbox. I use stubpages, as you can make them unviewable from Google/quite private. You can see one of mine here, which in rewriting it is how I found Dave. On a stubpage you can drag in what ever input/what others may see as junk that you want. Wikipedia has rules on all content, but as its a personal stubpage you can get away with a bit more. Plus I'll show you some tricks on how to hide what would be seen as bad/against the rules content, but may be useful whilst in creation mode. I also think the article is desperate need of an infobox, but we can chat about that later. So why not create http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Niccikwoo/DaveMcKenna and lets get going!
