Can I create a NAHB Research Center that does not get redirected to NAHB?

[edit]

{{helpme}} I was given the task of creating a Wikipedia article for the NAHB Research Center. It may seem like a conflict of interest, but nobody else seems interested enough to write an article for us. We just want to briefly explain who we are and how we differ from our parent company, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Can someone tell me how to publish this information without it being deleted every time? Can I use the content below? --Nahbrc (talk) 13:22, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I can't help; it's just SO difficult to be neutral with a conflict of interest. The article below is unsuitable for a number of reasons - mostly, because it depends on primary sources.
If the company is sufficiently notable then, eventually, someone will write about it. It will need to show significant coverage in independent reliable sources.
If you want to help us build an encyclopaedia by writing about other things, then great - I can certainly help with that, in any way I can. Sorry I couldn't be more positive, but this is the policy regarding such things - Wikipedia is not a directory.  Chzz  ►  13:37, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The NAHB Research Center was created in 1964 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to test and evaluate building materials in the laboratory, rather than on the construction site. They are located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Research Center consulting services include:

  • Research on housing construction and development issues
  • Product testing and certification
  • Market research and focus groups
  • Building standards development

The Research Center manages several programs and websites, including:

  • ToolBase Services[1]
  • EnergyValue Housing Award[2]
  • National Consortium of Housing Research Centers[3]
  • Green Approved Products for the National Green Building Standard[4]
  • National Green Building Certification[5] for NAHB's National Green Building Program (NAHBGreen)

Welcome

Hello, Nahbrc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then get me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that if more than one person is using this account to edit, then unfortunately it will be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Tikiwont (talk) 17:01, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
