Thank you today for Porlock Stone Circle, "about one of two surviving stone circles dating from the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age that are located in Exmoor, southwestern England"! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:59, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

... and today for Rastafari, "about one of the world's best-known, if often misunderstood, religious movements"! - You are amazing, have a good new year! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:44, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wanted to pop by and say thank you for today's TFA. Such an important topic! Sincerely, Ovinus (talk) 09:29, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Could you spare some time and review my nomination of this article? Thanks. isento (talk) 10:31, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there Midnightblueowl, hope you're doing well. Chiswick Chap and I have been working on this article (currently at User:Usernameunique/Martin Rundkvist), and given your work on articles about other archaeologists, I wonder if you might be interested in giving it a quick read? We're planning on bringing it to mainspace with a concurrent good-article nomination, but given that it's been on the losing end of trial-by-AfD twice already, having your eyes on it would help to ensure it's in the best possible shape this time. Thanks, --Usernameunique (talk) 02:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Usernameunique: Thanks for your message, and for your work on the article on Runkvist - it's looking in petty good shape. There are a few minor prose issues I'd comment on ("rich finds to the West" for instance should probably be "rich finds to the west"; "doubling as his dissertation" should perhaps be more precise, i.e. "PhD dissertation" or whatever it may be) but other than that I'd say it looks good to go. I think you've got enough non-primary sources to avoid a future deletion, which is not always the easiest task when writing about living academics. All the best! Midnightblueowl (talk) 10:49, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for giving it a read! I've adopted your two suggestions. Yes, fingers crossed for take three; as you say, finding sources for living academics is not always easy. --Usernameunique (talk) 22:49, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for Evelyn Mase, the "fairly short article is about Nelson Mandela's first wife"! You deserve February flowers ;) - Perhaps you can take a look at (the somewhat similar) Doris Stockhausen. I wonder if we should include - and if yes how - the interview by a school girl mentioned in the press. I hope she's still alive, - she was in 2013, pictured in the source. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:40, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Early life of Fidel Castro

[edit]

Hi, Midnightblueowl! I'm translating your Early life of Fidel Castro article to Portuguese and Spanish, which might I say, is phenomenal. However, I encountered an ambiguous phrase, and since you were the one who created this article I'm opening a new section here on your talk page.

Although Ángel's business ventures prospered, he ensured that Fidel grew up alongside the children of the farm's workforce, many of whom were Haitian economic migrants of African descent

By this, you meant that Fidel grew up alongside the children who worked on the farm, or the children of the (adult) workforce? Thanks! BunnyyHop (talk) 20:08, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@BunnyyHop: Thanks for your message; in this context it means the children of the adult workforce, I believe. Midnightblueowl (talk) 09:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks for your response! :) --BunnyyHop (talk) 21:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New image proposal for Fidel Castro

[edit]

Hey Midnightblueowl! :) I'm HandIsNotNookls, and I was the original editor who placed this edit on the Fidel Castro article. I just wanted to invite you to take place in this talk page discussion I've started to possibly establish a consensus for changing or keeping the page's infobox. Feel free to give your opinion!

Cheers. Have a great day. :) -HandIsNotNookls (talk) 00:44, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Theosophy template at Helena Blavatsky

[edit]

Here you removed the Theosophy template in the article of a major figure in theosophy because it was "messy". Please explain. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 18:03, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I usually don't template regulars, but since you can't be bothered to explain your edit, here's your warning:

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Helena Blavatsky, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 00:44, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I have not been on Wikipedia much over the past week or so. With this edit I was mostly concerned by the mass addition of images to that right hand side; the template was part of those recent additions that I thought unnecessary, but I take less issue with its inclusion. Midnightblueowl (talk) 09:25, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. I hope "I take less issue" means you take no issue with the template. If that's not the case, what is wrong with inclusion of the theosophy template in the article of a major figure in theosophy? I certainly understand if you removed it carelessly; that can happen to any of us, including myself. But I hope the removal wasn't intentional. Sundayclose (talk) 15:55, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Like a lot of editors, I think sidebars are detrimental to Wikipedia, but this particular one isn't causing too many problems to the flow and structure of the article. Midnightblueowl (talk) 08:36, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your right to your opinion, but you don't have the authority to make such a unilateral decision without discussion. You were wrong, but thanks for your comments here. Have a good day. Sundayclose (talk) 16:48, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Caustic3

[edit]

Hey there, the Boris Yeltin article has come under constant revision by user Caustic3. I reverted what I believed to be edits by that user that made the article take a vindictive tone against Yeltsin and portrayed him as a cartoon villain. I made two edits from the IP 146.115.73.211. The first was an undo of a section Caustic3 definitely added in. The second was an undo of a paragraph I very much suspect was written by that user. Feel free to check my edits as there is a chance some good information got caught up in there. I think that Caustic3 should not be allowed to edit that page anymore, however that works. I do not have a positive view of Yeltsin myself, but it is jarring to see any article on wikipedia that has a vindictive, negative tone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.115.73.211 (talk) 01:42, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A question of an article

[edit]

Hi, Midnightblueowl -- big fan of the good work. I've recently massively overhauled the article Prehistoric religion, which is rather in your wheelhouse, and have brought it to GA. I'm now in the long slog of improving the article between GA and a potential future FAC, which will take some time itself, and I'd be happy if you could look at the article and share your thoughts on it. Vaticidalprophet 07:04, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message, Vaticidalprophet. Will try and take a look in a bit. Midnightblueowl (talk) 10:58, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Santería scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 25 August, 2021. Please check that the article needs no amendments. A coordinator will draft a blurb - based on your draft if the TFA came via TFA requests, or from an existing blurb on the FAC talk page if one has been posted. Feel free to comment on this. We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:54, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for the article, "about a religion that formed in Cuba, drawing upon both traditional West African religions (primarily those of the Yoruba) with elements of Roman Catholicism.
