Variations

[edit]

Mearsault - I would be very interested in your opinion of -Nothofer, Bernd Dialektgeographische Untersuchungen in West-Java und im westlichen Zentral-Java - Wiesbaden : Harrassowitz, 1980 - is it still relevant? is it accurate in showing the differences? I get quite frustrated by bland generalisations from less detailed sources - and myself used to always refer to "south central Java rather than larger areas - and was absolutely enthused to find a food display in the mid 90's where some people at one of the universities in Yogya had separated "favourite foods" - separating villages or group of villages by their favourite groups of food - with differences sometimes no more than 20km in distance. I do hope it is not too complicated a question! SatuSuro 15:11, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response - because my understanding of german is limited - the Nothofer text is difficult for me - and I enjoy reading Uhlenbeck (what a relief it is in english translation) - but my big problem is how to utilise the information for an article - the Ron Hatley 'other java's away from the kraton' text smaller also helps - I suppose I am thinking of 'regional variations' in javanese culture- because the differences are more than west, central and east - they can be at a district level as well with language, food, etc - or at least in the past... I do not know what changes might have occurred in the last decade though.... Thanks again SatuSuro 15:42, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The whole direction of my current thinking is of course in the opposite direction to my work when I was in Yogya - which was trying to understand what the local people thought of the 'centre' - the royal palaces - and the royal graveyards! I promise you I will get back to my royal graveyard articles - and I will no doubt ask for your help when I get to them! SatuSuro 02:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Tambora is on FAC

[edit]

Hi, sorry for this spam. I've submitted Mount Tambora on FAC. Perhaps you can give some comments or vote there. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 16:21, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your support. I am trying to expand the Archeological evidence section, but other reviewers want more about other angles. So I have expanded the article for Eruptive History, Monitoring and Ecosystem sections. It has now growth into almost more than 32kB. So I think the Archeological section is more or less enough by now. Perhaps I can added more in Sumbawa or Sasak articles. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 10:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for your support for Mount Tambora at its article's FAC entry. The article is now featured. It's the first real Indonesia-related article to become featured.

Hi again, Meursault2004/archive-2006-II! This fortnight we've chosen: >>>Majapahit Kingdom<<<. Please help in referencing, check my newly added headings, improve prose, diagrams, but most importantly is RESEARCH so we can actually grow the article. Any other suggestions for improvement, please leave on the article's talk page. Yes, please discuss on talk page!
Also, can you please post suggestions for the following fortnight's collaboration. Please leave your suggestions at the bottom of this page. Hopefully i will remember to remind you to vote in about a week (someone else remind me!).--Merbabu 14:23, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. thankd for your message. I understand you might speak Dutch? I've been doing some research for Indonesian architecture and much of the internet sources appear to be in Dutch. perhaps you could help me out one day? I will try to put them through Babelfish and ask if I have a specific question. Also, may I ask you to take some photos if you have time? I am particularly after a pic of the old Bank Indonesia building in jakarat? I will mention it soon in the article. Here is a pic[1]. Do you know this building? --Merbabu 04:42, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Meursault2004/archive-2006-II. For the next two weeks we have chosen >>>Indonesian War of Independence<<< for the Indonesia Collab. Also, please vote for the next fortnight. Maybe we should chose a stub article. So far, we have had already longish articles and they are therfore hard to expand. Here's a list of Indonesian underdeveloped articles: [2]. Please let me know if you have any suggestions (or if you do not want me to message you about the collabs). kind regards --Merbabu 12:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. This fortnight's Indonesia Collaboration is > > > Indonesian language < < <. Please contribute! Please nominate for the next collab here. What about choosing one the shorter Indonesia stubs this time? kind regards Merbabu 15:23, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your message. And thanks for posting it at the village pump. Merbabu 10:05, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Id wikipedia

[edit]

Hi Meursault, I have a favour to ask. On the Indonesian wikipedia the Minangkabau article is called Suku_Minang. I think it would be better renamed to be Suku_Minangkabau, to bring it into line with the same article on every other edition of wikipedia. The term Minangkabau is the formal term, and Minang is just an abbreviation. Would you be able to move the article? Thanks. (Caniago 02:49, 27 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks, much appreciated. Happy holidays to you too. (Caniago 09:52, 27 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

You're a celebrity now ;-)

[edit]

Hi, I found one article at Kompas: [3], about you. Great work man! Keep id wikipedia alive. Oh, if fellow id wikipedians have a lot of spare times to create high quality english version at EN, then it would be great. :-) Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 18:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gosh, you're really a heroic person. Just curious, how many javanese readers for jv version? :P Oh, I'm not in Australia, I'm very close with where you live, but I prefer not to tell my exact location (though I bet you can easily check my whereabout). — Indon (reply) — 19:19, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nee, dat is niet het goede antwoord. :D Okay, good luck with the jv version. Perhaps you might want to invite SatuSuro. — Indon (reply) — 19:38, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, what do you think about List of volcanoes in Indonesia article that is now in featured list candidates? — Indon (reply) — 19:48, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maaf, saya bukan orang jawa - orang oz-tralian - with limited knowledge of javanese language! Fortunately the article in Kompas tentang saya cannot be found - they dont archive that far back in time (phew!) . SatuSuro 15:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - maybe you should email me! SatuSuro 16:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
