Recent declining of redirect requests

Hello. You have recently declined my redirect requests Jewjitsu, Jew-jutsu, Jewjutsu, Jew-jitsu, Jew jutsu, Jew Jitsu, Jew-Jitsu, Jew Jutsu, and Jew-Jutsu, citing that they are unlikely search terms for Krav Maga. I wish to know, why is Jew jitsu allowed, but these suggestions are not? Yyannako (talk) 03:40, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yyannako, apologies for the late response.

Even though the redirect Jew jitsu was made many years ago, it doesn't mean that these redirects you suggest should be added. For one, it seems that standards and policies have become more strict over time; it was created in 2011 and I personally wouldn't have created such a redirect in 2024. For another, it seems that the redirect was created for another purpose, and was more recently revised to send a reader to Krav Maga, even when it might not have been the original intention.

Short descriptions

Thanks for spotting that error. All the MLS draft-related short descriptions I've changed have been set to "College draft for soccer teams", which I can now tell should be restricted to the SuperDrafts and College Drafts.

Soon, I might modify supplemental drafts, expansion drafts, and Re-Entry Drafts to simply say "Drafts for soccer players in the US". What do you think? Cheers. LR.127 (talk) 02:22, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The drafts are not restricted to US players or US teams (as there are 3 MLS teams in Canada). It's best to just use the league's name in the description. Sounder Bruce 06:48, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Double redirect declines at WP:AFC/R

I don't think declining redirects because they're submitted as double redirects is helpful. Likely, the user submitting them doesn't know that double redirects break things, and they're trying to submit a redirect that leads to the eventual target. Often, those redirects are helpful. I've created two that are currently listed as declined (Airrecu and Dniester Moldovan Republic) by targeting them to the target of the redirect they were targeting, and tagging them with {{R avoided double redirect}} if needed (sorry if this sentence is a little confusing, I couldn't figure out how to word it better).
