Illinois articles

[edit]

Hello Kenallen, I noticed that you've created several articles on towns in Illinois. You have to actually put something in the articles; otherwise they'll be deleted on sight. You could put something as simple as "(Thisplace) is a town in southern Illinois." And that would probably be enough. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you. --Fang Aili talk 21:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New WikiProject Illinois Collaboration Division

[edit]

Hey, saw you were a participant in the Illinois WikiProject. I thought I would let you know that there is a new Collaboration Division up for the project. The goal of the division is to select an article or articles for improvement to Good article standard or higher. There is a simple nomination process, which you can check out on the division subpage, to make sure each candidate for collaboration has enough interested editors. This is a good way to get a lot of articles to a quality status quickly. Please consider participating. More details can be seen at the division subpage. IvoShandor 11:20, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Your Edit of Lincoln, IL

[edit]

If they do not have a wiki article, they are not notable. I suggest that you add an article for each of them or they will be removed again. There is no point in listing names of people if they do not have articles.--Kranar drogin 02:17, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:LoganCountyMap.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.co.logan.il.us/img/highway/county_map_large.jpg in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:LoganCountyMap.jpg with a link to where we can find that note;
 • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Image:LoganCountyMap.jpg with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a hangon tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Image:LoganCountyMap.jpg saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:13, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:IllinoisStateRedbirds.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:IllinoisStateRedbirds.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. fuzzy510 19:13, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image has been orphaned because you replaced it, User:Fuzzy510. The new image is Image:IllinoisStateRedbirds.png, which is a fine alternative. Kenallen 17:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SpreadTheRed.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SpreadTheRed.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Logan County, Illinois, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 2010 census (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
