How does hangon tag work and how do you refute quick delete?

[edit]

{{helpme}} My article has been challenged under section G11. The information related in the article is factual. There have been articles written by objective third parties about my photography including The Chicago Tribune, Foto Scene and Loupe Magazine. Do I just list these publications with the article dates as references? Would this take care of the objection? If not, what else would I need to do to keep the Wikipedia article in place?

Thanks. --Karen980 (talk) 22:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you should list those sources, and try using "inline citations"--see this guide on how.  fetchcomms 22:15, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Karen980, also, please note - even if it is deleted, don't worry. There is no deadline. If deleted, you can get a copy of the article put into your own user space, where you can take your time improving it - it's called WP:USERFY.  Chzz  ►  22:20, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But also bear in mind that articles which someone has written about themselves are very strongly discouraged, and frequently subject to deletion as self-promotion, even when written with the best of intentions. The general rule of thumb is that if you are notable, someone will eventually write an article about you, but you should not be that person. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 02:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Karen Hirsch, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:22, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Karen Hirsch. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Erpert (let's talk about it) 19:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Karen Hirsch. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. I have nominated Karen Hirsch, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karen Hirsch. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:13, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
