Draft article

[edit]

I like what you wrote...the problem will be that much of it is Original Research WP:OR, and Wikipedia does not allow for that. I made a few comments. You might want to find sources for your OR statements, or just see if you can delete them and still have a good article. I'll be glad to help from time to time. Very nice work. DPetersontalk 22:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC) from time to time. Very nice work. DPetersontalk 22:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, its more intended as a collation of work from wikipedia (et al) and other ideas which came up in a discussion- its not a draft article per se, merely an essay- its hard to explain. I'd hoped that i'd not made any leaps in reasoning and that it made sense from the standpoint of someone like your self- that i wasn't advocating nor condemning paedophiles, just stating that ultimately it comes down to a treatable illness if society stops stigmatising paedophilia and paedophiles, and makes sure its safe for them to come forth before they do harm. Thanks a lot for your input- i really appreciate it. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 22:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, in that case, give me a few days to read it over and think about it...I'll be glad to help.DPetersontalk 22:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, i'd be interested for your personal views, too- but yeah, take a look and get back to me whenever you have chance- no need to go out of your way. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 22:46, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CSD-A7 would have probably been more appropriate here, either way the page will be deleted, but its far simpler for whoever is looking at it to ascertain whats wrong if the tag is correct. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 20:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the text of the article, though, I thought that is was more nonsense than lack of notability (if that is what CSD-A7 is, I'm still new here). I mean, what could be more notable than "the firt (sic) person on jupiter and [becoming] it's supreme overlord enslaving all it's people"??? :P Thanks for the help, though!  DangerousNerd  talk 20:59, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and helping me out with my edits. I really appreciate it! PS: Good luck with Ubuntu! I've been a user for a long time now and have never looked back.  DangerousNerd  talk 21:03, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreliable sources

[edit]

In reply to your last; I've been tracing the sources for a number of dubious astronomical claims at Talk:History of astronomy#common misconceptions. In the course of doing so I've identified a number of sources that publish undocumented claims that fly in the face of the consensus among historians of science and the primary texts.

I'm finally moving ahead and deleting this material. --SteveMcCluskey 16:26, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Giselle (Disney). Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 03:28, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

The template says: "If you can address this concern by improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming or merging the page, please edit this page and do so. You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to its deletion for any reason. To avoid confusion, it helps to explain why you object to the deletion, either in the edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, it should not be replaced." I improved, sourced, and renamed parts of the page. Because I did so and objected to the deletion, I removed the template. I believe that was the only thing I removed from the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.62.217 (talk) 03:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Compassvale.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Compassvale.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Compassvale.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 21:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but all the other songs (bar the singles) are non-notable. See also this AfD. indopug (talk) 18:17, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I placed the notabiltiy tag on because the notability guidelines suggest that a subject must have received (preferably multiple) significant coverage from independent, reliable sources. Since the article doesn't present anything like this, I'm baffled as to why you were baffled. In what way does the article meet the guidelines? Marasmusine (talk) 10:10, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

IMO, using a level 4im warning as a first warning is generally a bit harsh, unless it is a vandalism edit by an obvious sockpuppet, or a long term vandal. You could use {{uw-bv}} or {{uw-v2}} to start with if they've made an obvious bad faith edit. Cheers and happy editing,--Ashbey…whisper… 00:19, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow

[edit]

AFD IS a discussion about the notability of articles because AFD is for debating what articles should stay or go (Look at other AFDs and you will see that you are wrong.) WP:N IS important to AFD because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and AFD is about debating what article belongs and doesn't belong in this encyclopedia. Significant coverage in WP:N is NOT the same as verifiability. You verifed it, but you did NOT show notability. If download sites showed notability, then every software would have an article. A tutorial is NOT significant coverage because it is not commentary on the software. It just tells people how to use the software. You DON'T understand AFD. Heck, you don't even understand the notability guidelines even though you have been a member since 2006. Having a lot of people does NOT show notability if it doesn't have significant coverage. I did search for sources which is what I said in my nomination and I did say it in my own words. Joe Chill (talk) 19:04, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You misunderstood significant coverage and I didn't (as the hundreds of AFDs that I have participated in show). Those are trivial mentions because they don't go into detail on the software. Download sites don't show notability and a tutorial doesn't show notability (which is all that you listed). All that I saw in searches were download sites and tuturials which has never been enough for notability. And AFD is not a vote, it is a debate so you don't have to go to the editor's talk page. (ask any active AFD user and they will tell you that). Joe Chill (talk) 19:30, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Now please stop saying that I'm doing it wrong when I have have participated in many AFDs, I got many articles deleted for the reasons that I stated above, and you are not active in AFD. Joe Chill (talk) 19:44, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see what you've done, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em eh? Something on the talkpage would've been helpful. Have articles that long, old and with so many links to other articles (which would essentially be orphaned) really been deleted due to your tags? How sad. (the fact that they were deleted that is, not you, although I don't see why anyone would think that.) Feudonym (talk) 12:09, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
