Why HALO there!
[edit]Was surprised to stumble across your name both in the BattleMaster Wiki [1] and the DotA page. You would know me as "Jezralhm". --Rchan89 13:21, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- I started playing BattleMaster because I had seen the entry on here. I think someone had added it as another example of a text MMORPG and I checked out the article because of it and figured it sounded interesting. --Habap 14:54, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
So here I am...
[edit]I am obsessed with completing a CEFEO OOB that includes their arrival and departure date during the First Indochina war. During my foolish quest I have picked up a small bit of knowledge and a bunch of books. I would enjoy assisting you in any Indochina war projects you may have. Doc smith 09:28, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
9/11/06
[edit]It's 9/11 and I am set to leave for work within the hour. I will be driving past the Pentagon around 9:17 - four years, 364 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes after the attack. Yesterday, while visiting the memorial and gravesite for some of the 184 victims in Arlington National Cemetery, 4 military jets flew right over us, executing the missing man formation right overhead.... --Habap 12:14, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
'nuff Said ?? If not ...
[edit]No personal cars
I chuckled when reading the "no personal cars" at all. I doubt that Americans would be willing to give up the feeling of freedom that comes with car ownership. While people who live on Manhattan or in Tokyo may find owning a car a hindrance, someone out on Long Island or in Akron, Ohio or Detroit, Michigan would probably tell you that "you can have my car when you pry the keys from my cold, dead fingers." Similarly, I doubt Germans would give them up. Heck, Finns, Norwegians and Swedes would probably hate to lose one of the ways of getting around their countries too. The "no personal cars at all" is so pie-in-the-sky silly that I am tempted to remove it or slap a POV tag on this article. It simply won't happen in any of our lifetimes. --Habap 13:54, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
--Keep Chuckling--
You are now 9 years old and live in Kitty Hawk. Orville and Wilbur have just landed. In twenty-five years, you will be an airline pilot flying the DC-3. Is that "'nuff said" for you ?? If not, it is now 40 years later and your son has just landed on the moon. "One giant step ...
- Well, someone who was 9 years old in 1903 couldn't have been piloting a DC-3 in 1928, since they hadn't been built yet. It would have been at best 1935, when the Douglas DC-3 first flew. Now, 1969 was 66 years after the Wright's flight, so our 75-year-old man might have a son born in 1930 (like the entire Apollo 11 crew), when he was 36. Of course, 75 years was longer than the average male lifespan in the US at the time (though my own grandfather was 4 in 1903 and died in 1983).
- While I am certain there will be technology that enables it (as there has been for airplanes for some time), I cannot imagine everyone giving up control of their cars in the next 30 or 40 years. If you expand it to 65 years, well, that's beyond the expected lifetime of most people reading this.... So, I stand by my statement. "It simply won't happen in any of our lifetimes." --Habap 12:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Cat:ACW
[edit]We have been taking this parent cat out of articles as they are better served by subcats. For example, we replaced cat:ACW with cat:Ohio in the Civil War for Hundred Days Men. Please try not to use this parent cat where it has already been omitted. And feel free to join the Civil War Task Force for an overview of the "policies" and guidelines. Regards!!! 20:53, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, Scott. I saw a new user removing cats and replacing them, and assumed it was someone deciding to re-categorize Wikipedia in their first few days. --Habap 21:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Removal of Ryzom references
[edit]Curious as to why Ryzom was removed from the MMORPG listing. Thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Burnman (talk • contribs)
- Since we already have examples of each of the facets, adding another example is not particularly useful. If we allow every game (including MANY independent games) to be added in every place in which it is an example of a facet of MMORPGs, then it stops being a readable article. In order to avoid showing favoritism, we stick with the first or the first couple examples added to the article to explain the facet and the regular editors tend to remove additional examples. Now, if there are aspects of the game that are unique (not in any other MMORPG), then we should add a sentence explaining the unique feature. Preferably, it would be first discussed on the talk page, so that we all know why it is being added and can ensure that the article still flows well. Your contributions are welcome, but there are many random people who want to replace existing examples with their own favorite game. --Habap 22:05, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I see your point, though Ryzom's release did predate EQ2 and I believe WoW, and includes some features not found in other games. I am very new to Wikipedia, and still pretty shakey on Wiki formating, but I'll see if I can put something acceptable together and introduce it to the talk page. ;) Thank you for the response. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Burnman (talk • contribs)
- No problem. Always good to welcome a new editor! --Habap 17:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Excuse Me..
[edit]Hi. I'm ASDFGHJKL. You said not in stating whether you want an article to be deleted, was not right. I started this article, and someone edited my statment for the reason why I suggested for it to be deleted. I think the IP adress 24.17.56.98 changed this. I had just fixed it when I found your message. Thanks! --ASDFGHJKL 00:13, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I thought it odd that the anon had placed his vote at the top and yours looked wrong. I hadn't remembered it being not before. Sorry for the confusion! --Habap 15:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
That's alright. --ASDFGHJKL 21:25, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the correction, was on a reverting spree, this one slipped through the crack. Lincher 16:12, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I was just fortunate to remember and be able to double-check on it. --Habap 16:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Speedy on Olav Duun
[edit][Britannica] think this author is one of the most important norwegian writers of the 20th century. I am removing the speedy tags. If you still want it deleted, take it to the AfD's. Amists 15:34, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Can you check?
[edit]Can you check this site (i can't) Trypants Day of Defeat: Source Competitive Community Network, let me know if this is just someone trying to get his or her site seen
- Yes, it is. Lots of space for content, but most of it marked "Coming Soon". Only 750 forum users. Not yet notable. It does remind me of folks from the old DoD Battle for Europe campaign who had the tagline "Pants are for Axis!" --Habap 16:58, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Im going to delete it then thanks (also how do you use the popups) i thought it was good so i "installed" it im trying to use the rv thing well its the end of the day ill check you out later

Pov
[edit]What do you find pov about the Battle Hymns (Suicide Machines album) article? Dark jedi requiem 00:29, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- It continued in the vein of their breakthrough debut Destruction By Definition, but made it louder, harder and faster. Songs like "Hating Hate" and "DDT" owe more to 80s hardcore bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat than Operation Ivy.
- If we provide a source for that opinion, no problem. Otherwise, it's POV. --Habap 19:26, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Genres are rarely opinion... Take for instance:
- Music from the Film More which reads: "mostly acoustic folk ballads, an unusual genre for Pink Floyd"
- Nevermind which reads: "The album draws a lot of influence from punk rock and alternative rock, as well as other genres."
- Blonde on Blonde which reads: "It is notable for injecting Dylan's brand of rock'n'roll, fully established on Highway 61 Revisited and heavily rooted in blues, with a more eclectic sound"
- None of the these are considered POV. These are all popular albums and have been edited by countless editors. Describing a genre, unless contested, generally doesn't get a npov tag.
- If it said: "It continued in the vein of their breakthrough debut Destruction By Definition, but made it louder, harder, faster and better. Songs like "Hating Hate" and "DDT" owe more to 80s hardcore bands like the great Black Flag and Minor Threat than Operation Ivy." Than it would deserve a NPOV tag. War Article Sizes
[edit]First off, Thank you for helping convince other people that the WWII article is too long. Secondly, would you an/or the Military History Wikiproject like to help, collectively? Or at least endorse my efforts? I think I could do it myself, but it would take awhile, and I don't know if I could manage it while dealing with everybody getting mad at me because they're too lazy to read an explanation on the talk page. Thanks! Ahudson 02:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oops, you just reverted one of my posts on the World War II talk page... I'll put it back. Ahudson 16:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about that - was smacking a vandal! --Habap 16:53, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's alright, I fixed it. No hard feelings. Ahudson 17:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Cindy Sheehan
[edit]Cindy Sheehan -- I should've read the text preceding the quote. I thought the article was quoting something she said, rather than typed. My mistake! --jeffrey elliot 07:10, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. --Habap 14:47, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
WWII News site
[edit]I think World War II News site http://hitlernews.cloudworth.com/ would be a good addition to World War II - page. It's been running years, and have thousands of articles.
- Since it's a pay site, listing it would smack of advertising. --Habap 14:45, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
5th Marines and Iraq
[edit]The regimental headquarters is there and running the show but the battalions are rotating through. With the MAGTF concept any battalions can be plugged and placed. The command relationships remain the same. Hope this makes sense--Looper5920 23:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, that does make sense. --Habap 14:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Hey Habap! Are you co-framer of article World War II?? I have question in relation to it. --Mahal11 13:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Mostly, I spend time on the Talk page, not on the article itself. You can certainly ask a question and I will try to answer. --Habap 14:05, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Regarding this edit, I was wondering why you removed those 2 links, since you provided no helpful info in the edit summary... Cheers -- ricmitch 16:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I forgot to put an edit summary. I removed them as clan websites. If we put all clan websites on there, we'd have hundreds or thousands. Both are also relatively new sites, so not established as communities. --Habap 13:29, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
