Notability of TakeOut Comedy Club of Hong Kong
[edit]A tag has been placed on TakeOut Comedy Club of Hong Kong requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Adolphus79 (talk) 06:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Chris Musni
[edit]An article that you have been involved in editing, Chris Musni, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Musni. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:50, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Chris, you may want to read WP:BIO; it has guidelines for who is notable enough to include in Wikipedia. Short version - you have little press coverage (as in newspapers and so on), haven't won major awards, don't have a large following, etc. If you disagree, feel free to go to the AfD page to make your case. Best, --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:55, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I can't remove the tag. The nomination process has to end. I'd add a comment to the AfD saying you revised the article, and follow the discussion to see what kind of response you get. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:26, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Are you Chris? --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:33, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- I am not Chris Musni Gchuva (talk) 05:40, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, here is the scoop. The newspaper articles didn't mention Chris by name. The two blogs did, but blogs generally don't mean much as far as notability. I'm sure Chris is a great guy, and very funny, but you should come up with something more concrete. I stay by my opinion, but it is just my opinion, and not my decision. Best of luck. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:41, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Please see WP:MEATPUPPET and WP:CANVASS. Corvus cornixtalk 23:55, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, Gchuva, if you sent a notice that was a limited posting, neutral, nonpartisan, and open, then it was perfectly acceptable. See WP:CANVASS Also, Wikipedia assumes good faith especially for new users. If you didn't recruit the new editor solely for the purpose of influencing this survey, then there was nothing wrong with alerting someone who is an expert in this limitied field of Chris Musni. What you should have done is left a note here at the discussion itself that you sent out such a friendly notice. The term meatpuppet is considered derogatory and should be used only with care. Not everyone on here bites, only you know what your intent was in noticing the other editor, I assume good faith unles shown otherwise, some editors presume bad faith, but that's not how Wikipedia should work. Stay on here and keep editing, almost all new content comes from new users. Established editors just improve on what the newcomers bring, but they get outsized as to their importance.--2008Olympian chitchatseemywork 00:43, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi there. I've removed your addition of a reference to the comedy club as it isn't relevant for the Hong Kong summary article. This main article should only give a basic outline of the different topics, as detailed at WP:Summary, while more in-depth content can be put into subarticles. Perhaps you would like to write a paragraph on the comedy club in the article Culture of Hong Kong, for which it is more than suitable? Regards, --Joowwww (talk) 17:27, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

A gentle reminder
[edit]Hi Gchuva, if you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, whereby an editor forego advancing the aims of Wikipedia in order to advance outside interests, that editor stands in a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, i.e. The Takeout Comedy [1], [2], [3] (Edit history can't be blanked out as one like here), are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- Editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with
- Participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors
- Linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam)
- You must always avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, attribution, and autobiography
Such cases may be refered to the COI Notice Board when they cause disruption to the encyclopedia, which may caused embarrassment for the individuals and groups who were being promoted, and may lead to one's account being blocked as well. Thank you. -- Kulikah (talk) 00:31, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
The article Idolatry (blog) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Doesn't seem notable. Most magazines host multiple blogs, what's special about this?
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Prezbo (talk) 01:33, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Festival Poster.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Festival Poster.jpg, which you've sourced to Jami Gong. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:06, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited David Dodds (fantasy football analyst), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fantasy football (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
