Wick and Wick Bay

[edit]

Wondering why exactly you have merged Wick Bay with Wick, Caithness. I would prefer to keep them as separate articles, as Thurso and Thurso Bay now are. Laurel Bush 11:17, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC).

I have added a reference to Wick Bay in the second paragraph of Wick, Caithness. Laurel Bush 11:27, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC).

Also, Im now thinking Old Wick Castle deserves an article of its own, with a link from Wick, Caithness. Laurel Bush 14:45, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC).

Sorry if you think I've messed up your article! It just seemed more cohesive to have them as the same article. I was in two minds whether to do that or just link it in some way but when I read the Wikipedia article it just seemed the right thing.

Same for Wick Castle, I just thought it'd fill out the Wick article a bit more. Plus I like my photos :-)

Yes. The photo looks could. But I still think town, bay and castle deserve separate articles. Dont know what sort of photo would best represent the town. Laurel Bush 15:54, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC).

And I am wondering how the bay might look in a photo from North Head or South Head. Laurel Bush 15:56, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC).

That might be a good photo of the bay. As for the town, I was thinking maybe looking up the river from Sommerfield's carpark toward Bridge Street?

RGLE, etc.

[edit]

I think that your comment in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Regular Grand Lodge of England probably sums the matter up perfectly. While tidying up after them, I deleted the link to bessel.org from Regular Masonic jurisdictions because it looked a bit out of place.

Believe it or not, it has taken me three hours to realise that you were responsible for both! I have no objection to your putting back a link or links to bessel.org. But:

Thanks for your support. Sadly, today's deletions are probably not the end of the matter, please watch the title - yes, you can watch a page that does not exist! I am not of the craft but having seen the RGLE article appear in July, I was simply following the matter up for the sake of Wikipedia. Also I strongly object to a few foreigners coming here and so arrogantly telling English people how to behave. -- RHaworth 11:39, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Untagged image

[edit]

An image you uploaded, Image:UGLEArms.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 00:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Photo of Bridge of Wick File:WickCaithness.jpg

[edit]

Hello: Could you explain this photograph to me? This is probably a dumb question, but I can't fit it into the landscape. In the Wick article, it is captioned as looking downriver toward the Bridge of Wick, with Bridge Street crossing it. A look at Google Maps Satellite View raised my question -- I can't find the the Georgian building prominent in the center of the photo on the Google Maps view. It would have to be at the east side of the south end of the bridge, but the building there (between River Street and Cliff Road) is triangular. Also I can find a likely candidate for the prominent steeple (the building at the north end of Malcolm Street), I cannot find a good candidate for the large building on the skyline at the left.

I thought for a moment that it might be a view facing up river, since there is a square building with many roof details at the northwest corner of the bridge, but there are no trees at the northeast corner. (I like to keep discussions in one place, so please respond here.) Thanks, . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 14:52, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wiki.x.io/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 22:52, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maunsell Army Fort

[edit]

You have uploaded two pictures of a Maunsell fort, one of several towers of an installation and one closeup. http://de.wiki.x.io/wiki/Datei:Maunsell1.jpg and http://de.wiki.x.io/wiki/Datei:Maunsell2.jpg. Do you remember what fort it is? --Matthiask de (talk) 11:19, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
