Week 5 / Garnix L
In the first article, I edited the Institutional investor on Wikipedia by adding information on how institutional investors' unique organizational structures and regulatory frameworks enhance their ability to enforce better corporate governance practices and a citation titled “Institutional Investors and Corporate Governance” to support my explanation. The link is here diff. Through this process, I learned that institutional investors' roles as financial intermediaries not only position them differently from individual block holders but also provide them with distinct advantages in influencing corporate governance through their size and expertise.
In the second article, I edited the Shadow banking system on Wikipedia by adding a sentence highlighting the increased reliance on private equity and venture capital funding for early-stage high-tech companies due to changes in market expectations and provided a relative journal as a citation. The link is here diff. From this editing process, I learned that shadow banking in China is intricately linked to commercial banks and is subject to weaker regulatory oversight compared to traditional banking activities, which underscores the complexity and unique characteristics of the Chinese financial system. Week 6/ Ryan1232378
In Week 6, the first article I edited was about Denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. Here is the diff. In the History section of this article, I added information about a significant DDoS attack that occurred in early 2024 targeting an Asian hosting provider. The attack, utilizing a Mirai-variant botnet, reached a peak traffic volume of 2 terabits per second (Tbps), highlighting the increased capabilities of modern botnets and the substantial threat they pose to critical infrastructure.
The second article that I edited was about Real Estate bubble, added content about post-COVID-19 U.S. Real Estate Market Trends. Here is the diff. In this article, I discussed the significant rise in home prices following the pandemic, driven by a supply-demand imbalance and increased borrowing costs due to Federal Reserve interest rate hikes.
I learned about the importance of addressing regulatory issues and the challenges involved in summarizing complex market trends while ensuring the credibility of the information by citing reliable sources.

- @Ryan1232378 Please remove the link to the DoS website you added and move that edit to a more appropriate spot on the article as it does not belong on the lead per WP:LEAD, which states that the top, or lead, of an article should identify the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points of the article, without including new information that is not covered in the remainder of the article. Ping me here when done and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 14:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- @FULBERT Professor, I selected new articles and wrote the content. For the Wikipedia page "History of CBDCs by Country," here is the diff. This update highlighted significant advancements in the practical use of e-CNY, marking an essential development in China's CBDC history. Through this editing process, I enhanced my understanding of how to effectively present complex financial technologies in an accessible and neutral manner.
