Clarification on COI Restriction

[edit]

@Only: Hi Only. I am respecting the guidelines you set forth in granting my appeal. Working on a variety of pages. Not just Chippendales. Declaring my COI on my user page and in the Chippendales Talk. Using the request edit template. Keeping a good will attitude and open discussion towards my fellow editors. Just for clarification: Am I allowed to make uncontroversial edits as outlined in the COI page? Thank you again for giving me another chance. Ericmalibu 22:17, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Making uncontroversial edits Shortcuts WP:COIADVICE WP:COIU Editors who have a general conflict of interest may make unambiguously uncontroversial edits (but see WP:FINANCIALCOI). They may: remove spam and unambiguous vandalism, remove unambiguous violations of the biography of living persons policy, fix spelling and grammatical errors, repair broken links, remove their own COI edits, and add independent reliable sources when another editor has requested them, although it is better to supply them on the talk page for others to add. If another editor objects for any reason, it is not an uncontroversial edit. Edits not covered by the above should be discussed on the article's talk page. If an article has few uninvolved editors, ask at the talk page of a related Wikiproject or at the COI noticeboard. Also see WP:COITALK.

Yes, you can, but make sure you're 100% certain that the edit you're making satisfies one of those categories. only (talk) 12:39, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Only: Thank you again for giving me a chance. I am enjoying working on my California and Malibu history. I never really understood how Wikipedia works until now. It’s fun. Thanks 🙏 Ericmalibu 13:56, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Central Business District

[edit]

Your attention is called to the addition of this display to the article on the Central Business District, Los Angeles (1880s-1890s). Do you have any feelings, for or against? Discussion should take place on that article's Talk page. Thanks. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 05:23, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for inviting me. Ericmalibu 10:58, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chippendales

[edit]

Hi, apologies for dropping out of the discussion on the talk page recently. I've not lost interest but have been tied up with other things lately. Regards --John B123 (talk) 22:41, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@John B123: Thank you and no worries. I understand this is a voluntary endeavor. I like your Wikipedia tastes. Hookers and motorcycles. I use to live in Amsterdam and one of my favorite books is "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert Pirsig. There's a book written by a British journalist about his travels to the bordellos of the world during the 70's called "All The Girls". Interesting book because it's a serious examination of the cultural differences through prostitution. Thanks for your prompt attention. Message me anytime. Ericmalibu 23:00, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I read "Zen" a long time ago (possibly in the 1980s). "All The Girls" sounds like it's worth a read. Regards --John B123 (talk) 18:09, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@John B123: I tried to buy the film rights to the book "Zen" from Mr Pirsig who was living on a barge in Paris at the time. I also lived in the Redlight District of Amsterdam or "A'dam" as the locals refer to it and that was interesting. It was a re-gentrified canal neighborhood across from the Oudekirk. To watch different cultures interact with the prostitutes was interesting. Ericmalibu 19:08, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the red light districts have been/are in the process of gentrification. In my youth, London Soho had about 30 strip clubs and over 100 walk ups. Today there is one lap dancing club, 4 or 5 walk ups and a few Chinese massage parlours. Brussels Bruxelles-Nord station rld has disappeared except for part of Rue d'Aerschot The EL Raval rld in Barelona was demolished and the Filmoteca de Catalunya, a hotel and flats built there. I've never been to Amsterdam, one of those places I've always intended to go but never quite make it. Regards --John B123 (talk) 20:35, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@John B123: wow. That's surprising. That you have never been to Amsterdam. I was working there in advertising and my girlfriend was a Dutch local whose hair salon was in the Nieuwmarkt area which is close to the Redlight District. She just wanted to find me a nearby apartment. It happened to be there. A fashionable canal street called Oudezijds Vorburgwal. Touristy mix of British pubs and window bordellos that resemble Victoria Secret stores. The prostitutes were organized and very decent. In fact, I would often stop off to chat on my way home from work. Like talking to a regular neighbor. And they were. The Dutch have such an open attitude about sex, there was nothing dirty or weird about living in the Redlight District. It was refreshing. I was just there last October and sadly like everything else pre-Covid, tourism really saturated that canal street. But I do remember the Soho area of London in the late 80's. The clubs and casinos. The red phone booths that had escort services papered over the interior. Ericmalibu 00:07, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The "tart cards" are still there but the red phone boxes have mostly replaced by more modern booths. --John B123 (talk) 15:37, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I love those old English phone booths. I only saw one when I was in London last fall. Those "tart cards" were more erotic than anything I ever saw in Amsterdam.Ericmalibu 22:48, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@John B123: What are your favorite bikes from the 70's? Ericmalibu 00:58, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Individuals with COI on Chippenales History Page Vandalized with Self Promotion and Unreferenced Statements

[edit]
@John B123:

Hi John B123. Unfortunately certain individuals have come back to the Chippenales History Page and vandalized the narrative with an emphasis on their COI roles. Sometimes adding IMBD links. The users have no history and deactivated their account. How should I proceed? I placed a notice to restore the page to August 29, 2020 when it was previously restored by another senior editor. Thank you Ericmalibu 14:22, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eric, I see another editor has restored to a previous version. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 14:30, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
